Can't believe what I'm seeing on these posts. Why would anyone sell their talons to an NPC or at all? After such a long camp accompanied by fighting through the constant amount of people who kill lodizal on sight, it should be a collector's item of the quest. I have one of these talons on 5 of my melee characters, and as such an eyepatch on each of them. Too bad no one can appreciate them...

Good Deal!
# May 08 2003 at 8:09 AM Rating: Decent
I just bought this item from an NPC vendor in POK on The Rathe server.
At the time, my Necro bought it because I was looking to upgrade my Rangers gear and the necro had the cash. I paid 18pp. for it and came here to see if I had paid too much.
After reading these posts, I think I lucked out!

Did I get a good deal paying only 700pp for these? Or is the price really an average of 1,900?

on par with Grim?
# Jan 29 2002 at 5:00 AM Rating: Decent
was thinking of camping this guy to twink my new ranger. Grimfeather is a daisy to me at this point, just wondering if Storm is about the same difficulty level? although kiting him through a pile of cougars may prove interesting on its own...

Anyway, easy kill for a 44 druid with good gear?
RE: on par with Grim?

One thing to remind you all that dont get a dispell magic spell. Have a crystallized pumice on you, and cast it twice on any snow griffon type you encounter. When the griffons spawn they cast 3 buffs.. 1 - sow , 2 - damage shield, 3 - not sure. But its always that order. If you are soloing and dont have a dispell magic.. ( like a beastlord for instance ) dispell him twice.. no more sow, no more damage shield killing your pet or other tank faster. Also if things go south of cheese you will be able to run from it now. Cause the griffons sow is more uber than any sow I can cast. ( ive got shawl # 4, i spent a great deal of time killing these griffons )

Peace.

Well, although I can't say that I know a whole lot about how tough Stormfeather is when compared to Grimfeather, you mentioned kiting him through all the cougars on that island. Unless you are a peck (halfling) and their faction with cougars is different than mine, you shouldn't be aggroed by cougars when kiting him. All the cougars (even Midnight) are dubious to me all the time even in wolf form. Besides, if I'm not mistaken, he spawns right up on the corner of the island, and the rocky area next to the water is prime kiting area away from cougars even if they are aggro. Now, the gnomes on the other hand, don't like wolf form.

FYI halffers do not seem to have problems with aggro from the cougars. I've been camping SF for my warrior for days it seems with no troubles. Might have some troubles if you are around the cougars level or lower /shrug "glowers dubiously" faction.

EASY!
# Jan 02 2002 at 3:46 PM Rating: Good
LONG spawn on this guy... but once you got him snared, it's easy. Anyone who can solo Midnight can take this bird down with a little more effort. I smoked this griff monday morning with my 35 Ranger using a Silver Swiftblade, Trueshot Longbow, and some Wood Hooked Class 2 arrows. It was a long battle but the prize is worth it. Anyone who solos Snow Cougars should keep an eye out for this one. When I got there, he was coming down past the gnomes shootin craps.

Snare, back up while firing arrows, stinging swarm, back up while firing arrows, panic animal, whack and chase until fear breaks... not too complicated. Just make sure you have a fresh SoW, you keep Stinging Swarm going which can be hard on the mana bar, and keep snare on him the whole time... these claws and the piece of map will be yours.

If you are not a Druid or Ranger, be VERY careful... I had a High Elf Enchanter friend get rushed by 7 cougars one time and all he did was walk past the three under the tree.

Does anybody have any definite details on the Lynx Claws rumour please? They have been mentioned in several posts, but with no clue how to get them - I assume they are something to do with the SF Talons.
Meantime, I will do some digging on Saryrn and if I get any info, will post it here for all to see.

Um, yes. How is it even a question? These are faster (slightly), add some stats, and your Yak won't proc until 37. Seems pretty straightforward to me.

AFTER 37, then there's some debate. Basically, it boils down to stats vs. proc. The stats (SFT) will always help you. The proc (Yak) will increase damage but also increase taunt. Good for soloing, and grouped with a good taunter, or you're the main tank (in which case, put that Yak in mainhand!). But may not be appropriate for some groups (i.e. you want to avoid aggro).

Unfortunately its possible they were leaving a drop for another character. I have used that method to transfer goods between charcters myself. Nice interception though :P

Dropping bags in water is a great idea. I never thought of that. It would defintely keep anyone from noticing a bag laying on the ground.
RE: Stormfeather
# Mar 22 2003 at 5:04 AM Rating: Decent
Bah! I only wish I had thought of the water idea. When I "Ghetto Transfer" I do it by dropping my bag in a room in a bar or some other building no one ever goes into. 'Course, if you're in a guild there should be no reason you can't find someone trustworthy to help you out.
Solo?

Could a lvl 49 paladin solo this Stormfeather guy? I can solo all regular griffins (like the ones that torment the newbs in WC). I just need some of these claws for a twinked alt.

You collect four pieces of this map to turn in for the Eyepatch of Plunder (http://eqdb.allakhazam.com/item.html?item=4431), VERY nice item.

Linx Claws
# May 27 2001 at 12:00 AM Rating: Default
I'm curious too to see if anyone has any new information about these claws - I don't even care if the exact details about the quest are never posted, I'd just like a starting point of some variety. Has any figured out what zone this quest might start in? Maybe one of these days when I'm bored, I'll talk to all of the NPCs in Thurgadin and see if I can find anything there.
Linx Claws?!?!?!

I bought these yesterday for 500pp from someone knowing about the linx claws rumor. But, can anyone at all post about the claws? i would love a set on my warrior. And, when you guys saw them, where they off hand or primary? i hope primary.

I believe the lynx claws is a rumor. I have had a wizard friend of mine id these for me, and they only say Stormfeather Tallons. If the Lynx Claws do exist, this item has nothing to do with it, but I would like to see someone post something on them.

Total BS you're a little lvl 5 liar is what you are, your group would have gotten their asses handed to them and then when you tried to CR you would have gotten smoked again, so stop lying you newbie.
RE: Grin
# Jan 19 2002 at 12:09 PM Rating: Default
I have to agree the chances of a group that low taking him and not argoing the cougers onto them is slim to none. Therefore I doubt that you actually acomplished this feat with 3 mid 20's.

The time it takes just to get him to pop would have been enough to kill your little group.
At 39 the cougers were blue to mostly light blue, and on my Druid green at 40 prior to the SoL exspansion. At lvl 41 with my sk they are light blue to green with the occasional blue....

so.... at 25 they would be more or less yellow to red with a hunger for your blood and since storm is higher i doubt you could have landed a spell on him and hardly hit him.

unless u by some great miracle kept your group alive with your minor heal.....

I would have to agree that you sir are in fact a little liar.

Sorry, the facts don't lie...
RE: Grin
# Mar 20 2002 at 1:03 AM Rating: Decent
Actually cougars don't agro on rangers unless you are fighting one already. Since stormfeather is a griffin a ranger can fight it amongst cougars without any agro. As for 3 upper 20s killing Stormie, well this is possible if panic animal and snare sticks. Possible for the 28 ranger not being resisted that much. Or they could have pulled it to the docks and hate kited it if a snare took. Sorry, but it is possible.
RE: Grin
# May 02 2002 at 6:24 PM Rating: Decent
Interesting...as a Ranger, I've been killing snow cougars for 2 levels now to keep myself busy while waiting for Stormfeather to pop. They never aggro me unless I'm actively fighting one. After I get done kting one around and killing it, I sit my slightly wounded mana-depleted ranger self down and med. The snow cougars walk all around and over me, but don't aggro. Before anybody asks...no Camo, invis, sneak, or hide being used. Maybe it has something to do with race? Long shot probably, but wood elves don't seem to have a problem with snow cougar aggro.
Now shadow guardians :)...that's another story entirely...

Dude, what have you been smokin? Cats aggro on rangers all the time. *Wolves* find us appealing and want to lick our faces. Cats want to claw our eyes out. :)
RE: Grin
# Sep 27 2002 at 5:48 AM Rating: Decent
Once again, just to be clear, the snow cougars do not aggro on me unless I am actively engaged with one. Want to see? I'm on the Luclin server, come on up and play. This might be something worth looking in to. Why don't the cats aggro me, but jump all over you? Is your race/class combo wood elf/ranger? If so, what other differences might there be to explain this <shrug>? Not that it really makes a difference, but it makes hunting them easier.

We had this guy on track yesterday and killed it with a full Lvl 30 to 38 group. This Griffin is tough and hit really hard ! So a caster would not stand long against him (hit me for 90s trippleattack) - so dont overburn on him ! He dropped those Weapon ! So could u tell me the regular price to sell it for ?
Spawn time
# May 11 2001 at 4:21 PM Rating: Good
Stormfeather is an 18.5 hour random spawn, he spawns by the three gambling gnomes on the gnome pirate island, the same island the boat lands on. Random spawn means that after 18.5 hours since his last spawn he may or may not show up, which makes camping him a pain in the ***. The map piece is used for the Eyepatch of plunder quest which is an amazing melee item, casts a haste spell on you, so it stacks with any haste items you may have. If you have no life and are looking to get a very nice item, spend a few days camping stormfeather, then spend a few more days camping Lodizal with your guild, the rest of the quest is easy.

I heard on lanys, that this was a quest item and that the quest gives Link claw, which has stats or 10/18, either hand, i did not believe, so they said ti go to mith marr sever, a guy by name of rahzek has them, so i did, and it was all true, i cant use then, but they are still vary cool, they had a blue glow to them, *droooool* wish i could use, heeheee

saw this post at 3am, so i went to mith mar to confirm. i was there from 4am to 4pm real time shouting if anyone know rahzek, and got one reply, so he is there, i have that much confirmed, from what they told me, he is on weekday nights, ill come back after i speak with him in a few days, and see if the rest is real

i did speak with him and i did see the weapon in his hand and in trade window. i do NOT mean to say your wrong, but you did get one thing right, the stats are 10 damage and 18 delay, that much is true. But the name of the claw is not link, its LINX CLAWS, and they were a dark purple , not blue, kinda like a black light. But let me tell you the rest of the stats.

Yes, you read that right, all/all. These ARE the wolverine claws, and they are NOT lore, OMG, i will look so sick. well, rahzek must be from another time zone, because it took me from 3am to 7am to find him this morn if that help anyone, go look at them and do it in a nice way, oh, and as for the quest, he will NOT tell me a thing, what could i expect, i wouldnt either i guess. Yes, the claws may be ALL/ALL, but only classes with the slashing ability can actually use them in combat. Otherwise, you're just pissing off a lot of tank-types by hoarding one damn nice 1HS just for the stats boosts.

I use these off hand with a Lammy, talk about great hits. Since i got these from a drood looking for a pair of Gauntlets of the Black (even trade). I dont even use my wurmslayer anymore. total combined weight of the two is 1.6, As a 45 warrior, I dont even have to use my taunt button to keep the mobs off the casters. As for the 15K price....Hmmmm well they go for about 2k on the Povar server. Good luck

23k for the map piece
# Jan 08 2001 at 5:40 AM Rating: Default
34 druid(me), 36 necro and a 33 cleric dropped Stormfeather the other day, he was flappin around by the 3 static coug spawns. He dropped the claw and the map. The necro won the claw and logged out, and this is when it gets good. A high lvl char offered to pay the cleric and I for the map piece, he forked over 23k in items and pp, we let him loot the map, and the cleric and I split up the loot and pp. Weapon may be nice but the pp and items were better.
