boots
# Oct 28 2002 at 2:27 AM Rating: Excellent
i turned in the silk and the 3 gems and got my boots at level 39, they have a 9 second casting time exactly and i have found them very useful when charming as an enchanter.
Casting time?
# Apr 21 2002 at 5:49 PM Rating: Decent
Can anyone verify the casting time on the invis effect?
RE: Casting time?
# Jul 03 2002 at 2:59 PM Rating: Decent
Its an 8 second cast,no mana needed good if you dont need to speed cast invis

ya, that's a nice find, especially since torn enchanted boots ONLY drop in Kael Drekkel. Good luck getting anything out of those boots 8oP

Loam Encrusted Lined Shoes: Wt 0.70. +4 AC, +8 Agi, +8 Dex, +8 Cha, +10 vsPos, +15 Mana

Beguiler's Slippers: Wt 0.50. +5 AC, +4 Cha, +2 vsMg, +2 vsFire, +2 vsCold, +2 vsPos, +2 vsDis, +35 Mana, MAGIC NODROP Effect of Invisibility

An interesting comparision.

Weight:
Shoes: 28 coins
Slippers: 20 coins
Small, but 8pp is almost the price of a peridot. And higher level Enchanters can always use more coin for peridots.

Armor Class:
Shoes: 4AC +8 AGI
Slippers: 5AC
As much as I would like to believe that the addition of 8 Agility would add significantly to Armor Class, Verant has given me little reason to have faith in such a conclusion. In addition, extensive studies done have shown that AC has a greater importance than Agility varients of +/- 40 or more.

Charisma:
Shoes: +8 CHA
Slippers: +4 CHA
The Shoes would seen to be the easy winner.
Until taken in relativity for the normal level range in aquiring these items. Post-50, with gear and Buffs, Charisma in excess of 210 is easily gained and maintained. Assuming standard programming practice, unless effecting Charisma by a factor of 5 or 10 (ie, dropping from a 206 to a 201; or a 211 to a 207) four points are irrelevant. Lacking solid study information on the significance of Charisma in excess of 200, this may be a moot point until concrete data has been gathered.

Resistances:
Shoes: +10 Poison
Slippers: +2 vsMagic, +2 vsFire, +2 vsCold, +2 vsPoison, +2 vsDisease
The Shoes would have the advantage if facing shamans regularly. Commonly, you can face almost any type of caster from one day to the next. While small, the Resistances from the Slippers are significance greater taken as a total with additional pieces of Beguiler's or a full set.

Mana:
Shoes +15 Mana
Slippers: +35 Mana
No contest. More mana gives greater chance to prevent being OOM. Even if not completely drained of mana, you may not have enough mana left to cast the spell you NEED to cast to save the day. Every bit of mana addition helps.

Dexterity:
Shoes: +8 DEX
Slippers: None
While I would like to hold to the old wive's tale of Dexterity aiding in being able to cast through interrupts; Verant has stated that it is based on the Channeling Skill.

Additional Attributes:
Shoes: Lootable
Slippers: NODROP Effect: Invisibility
The value of keeping what you have gained through your efforts is paramount. NODROP wins for PvP servers.
While in the Post-51 range an Enchanter will commonly be using their own Improved Invisibilty for themselves with the comfort of its guarenteed 10 minute timer, there are others to think of. Invis'ing an entire group or Raid has advantages of saving mana with a Click Effect. In addition, an Enchanter can ensure partymembers stay invis as they drop and still cover themselves by using their own Improved Invisibility. With the timer on Invisibility having the potential to exceed Improved Invisibilty, their is the chance that partymembers can outlast your own ImpInvis.
Having the ability to release a Charmed pet without having to flip open your book and exposing yourself to a triple or quad maximum damage hit when Charm breaks saves your Cleric mana. Saving your Cleric's mana helps keep your entire team/Raid alive.

Each item has its merits. And like an Enchanter's spell choices have different uses varying by situation.
Assuming a Charisma of 200+, the Slippers are a decisive winner. The addition of the Invisibilty Effect pushes them over the edge as the item of choice.
If lacking Charisma is a factor, the Shoes are the item of choice.
If seeking the maximum in options (and what Enchanter doesn't like having options?) carry both with one in a weight reducing container that is HotKeyed to an easily accessable HotKey Bank. Pop open the Conatiner, and you can even leave it open during combat if placed properly on your screen with a minimum of loss of screen real estate. Swap footwear out like your Buff Swap Slot and enjoy the best of both worlds. :-)

with everything you said .. I can see you have studied but not played ..

for one thing .. where are you getting your 20pp vs 28pp stuff from .. if you buy these on MQ then you will pay much more than 20pp ..

Invis effect .. this is GROUP ONLY .. you can't click on anyone outside your party .. and if you were to do group hopping to invis a raid - By the time you got to the last group .. most the others would be visible again ... as you said .. most enc would use their Improved Invis.

What the real benifit of these shoes is ... CHARM KITING .. with the Charm Kite exp nerf .. you can use this buff to break your mez on your pet .. then a quick root .. and a quick nuke later .. you have exp for both mobs ..

I do Charm Kiting ALOT in HoH as the south shrine .. thes shoes are a life saver for saving me a spell slot that I don't have to fill with an invis ...

I would rate these as a must for all charm kiting enchanters.

How do these compare with GEBS, i dont know what i should be going for...
RE: Comparison Shopping
# Jan 06 2002 at 11:31 AM Rating: Decent
Hehe! they are crap compared to gebs. The only thing about them that makes them not totally useless is the right click effect. Keep em in your inventory like jboots, use the effect when you need it, but you would never actually WEAR these things except perhaps on a dragon raid where resists are important. Gebs are same ac, but int 9, and with the stat caps softened up so that intelligence counts all the way to 250, gebs are definatly better.
RE: Comparison Shopping
# Jan 21 2003 at 12:51 PM Rating: Decent
Actually to any decently equipped high level enchanter GEBs are CRAP! The +int is absolutely worthless when you are already at 250+ int with KEI. The +mana and +resists from these boots are far more useful. Sure there are better boots than these, but GEBs are not better and are only good for newbie twinks.

what level
# Dec 15 2000 at 11:49 PM Rating: Decent
What is the minimum lvl to do this quest? Or is there none? I'm asumming at least 35 since velious is a lvl 35+ area.
thanks
RE: what level
# Jan 17 2001 at 6:21 PM Rating: Decent
Well the bits you need drop off 52+ (or 55+ can't quite remember) mobs in deep Kael.
So the quest is basically a clever ploy by the dwarves to make you kill lots of giants.

As if you need a clever ploy to make people do that =]

These are nice! Invisiblity effect to boot (pun intended). I don't see why someone would think these are lame.

I agree completely and utterly. For any chanter who uses charm alot, this is a godsend. I can now charm, and not have to sit and swap out a spell when i want to break my charm. If i could get any one peice, this would be it. The benefit far outweighs the stats for this poor lil Eru chanter.

Sorry to be sour grapes here, but I was excited to see there were new quest boots for enchanters, but now that I see what they are and <YAWN>

If you are the level required to get these you are high enough to get loam encrusted slippers which are much better for an enchanter.

Two things:
1) If these are like jboots they won't need to be worn to use the invis proc.

2) You must be either a DE (with hide) or not a charm using enchanter. I would kill for the ability to free a "pet" from my control at will. These are great if only for that use.

That is what I love about the Magi Earthen Boots, they have the effect Invis to Animals, which insta kills a pet if it gets out of control range and before it makes a hella train =)

Wrong, Enchanters get Improved Invis at lvl 50 with velious. It lasts WAAAY longer (but self only) I'd rather use the little mana for a long last invis for those long runs through kael, and look only a liiiiittle cha. come on, these dont even beat GEBs! By the time you get this you're probably over 50...Just an idea so dont go flameing on me cause you got nothing better to do
