I got very lucky. Went to zone and he was up with weapon. Killed Aug. 2, 2010 8:00 PM central

Ya i just got it 3-10-10 about 8:10 pm CT. This was after a Game update. So thinking it is best to be there after a update to get the drop.

Does anyone have any info on his Spawn Timer?
Got mine finally! Have checked on Vaniki spawn 100's of times, with no luck. Finally earlier this week she was up, and dropped it and her heart. Overkill with 82 rogue (me) and 82 druid. Thanks to Rondor, King of Willsappers, for running out and tracking her (I don't know how many times) and porting me to zone line, for an easy trip.
Great week. Anklesmasher dropped for me just now!

Killed on Povar 9:05pm, after 3 weeks of 24/7 camping. buddy and I camped on shifts. NEVER AGAIN! I am now a proud owner if the Willsapper. This was done with solo with 71 SK no mercs. Did use HT maxed at level. Never fell below 70% with the 2 other mobs also on me.

This is the sort of thing you only hear about from reading alla or the EQ forums, but today it happened to me. I was camping the Anklesmasher guy in Chardok and wasn't having much luck spawning the named. So I figured, what the hell, I'll head to DN to see if Vaniki is up. I head into the caves, kill some spiders on my way, and enter rat land. I couldn't believe my eyes. There he was, standing in the middle of the large middle cave, holding a Willsapper. I pretty much went nuts on guild say.
I'm now a proud owner of a Willsapper, folks, got the T-shirt too. I guess everyone gets lucky eventually, because I *never* do.

Ok So I camped him about 10 days straight since patch was done. I finally found him standing near where warmaster or warmarshal pops. Which was in the rat city up the big ladder to the left. Was standing in the middle over looking ledge. I had 1 rat add and a dragon construct on me. WARNING he is a under con . He is very soloable but . I am a 80 pally. .I Think i had like 19 to 20k hp and 3100ac atm with self buffs. Had to use 1 heal potion and burnt threw my 13.1k mana without c8 . Had 20 percent mana left when he died. didnt use lay hands. But he is abit tough. Zlandicar is easier then him . I only have like 280aa so maybe if your aa are high he will be easier for you. I did get a heart and a WillSapper . : )
Just posting if you think he gonna be easy and you a lower lvl.. Bring a alt or back up.

Came in, 11.7k HP 2.3k AC Unbuffed (Rogue!) was just scoutin around really and saw Vaniki up by Zlandicar's spawn point. Pulled him and his two cronies... Hit assassins disc, owned the adds then proceeded with Vaniki. His Lifetap is nasty, hit me 4 times in 2 rounds (450hp per shot unresisted) but i just used Frenzied Stabbing disc while he casted and he ate my backstabs. Wasnt too hard, used 3 healing poitons in all.
Dropped Willsapper / Heart of Vaniki. Looked up heart and got the Skelly proc 1hb.

With the help of 2 (75) Druids we invised through rat caves and Vaniki was up a tall ladder standing right next to Warmaster Utvara. They see inv. LOL. Really didn't start touching Vaniki's hp's until Druid's finished off the Warmaster then started stacking the Dot's. As others have said...he flurries alot and HT's (sub 1khp). No real danger, Ward of Tunare spell really helped with the flurries etc.

Got it today .. was by the horders just in front of Zlandi's cave .. a chanter was killing zlandi.. so I offered to give a hand as he was fighting it right in front of the horders/vaniki ... smoked the dragon .. (butcuss for loot) and carried on to put the beat down on my mouse.. was dead in minutes .. Very very happy been after this mouse for quite some time ..

Just got this today, decided a few weeks ago that it would be nice for my SK to have a slowing item so had her run to Dragon Nec and just log on every few days and check the spawns. He randomly spawns in the place of named PHs, so no need to kill things to get him to pop. Just check for him every so often.
The second day I logged on for a few minutes and to my surprise he was up, in the rat village with the ladder and the pools. He was near the middle, so I pulled his rat *** and himself and about 10 others came running at me. I died to all the added damage, so grabbed a quick port from a druid, ran thru SG and back to DN... I wasnt going to let this elusive spawn get away wihtout a fight.
I headed back in and parked my pet on the top side of the rat tunnels entrance and headed down. I noticed that Vaniki was in the same spot where i died at, so I pulled him back to the top and FD. After the enemies forgot me, all of the adds wandered off and it was just him. Pulled him and it was roughly a 7-8 minute fight, but an easy one. Dont think I got below 70% at any time and that was with a spider add. He runs at 15% or so but I didnt get any more adds. Killed him and looted the willsapper, heart, a pristine emerald, and monster summoning 3 spell. Great item to have for soloing, he only spawns in a few spots so just park a rogue or something in DN and check every few days and you'll eventually get him.

After giving up and not looking for a month or 2, today I decided to have a peek. He was up in the big room with the 2 pools/waterfalls. I pulled him to the little cubby with the ladder and only got one add. I'm a 70 Paladin, had shammy and cleric buffs and was using clarity and haste potions. Took me less then 4 minutes to kill him.

Well after about 3 years of wanting one I finally got mine today. Thats only about 4 things left on my wish list and I can quit EQ happy :)
I tracked DN with my druid at top of rat ramp. Vaniki was on track so I decided to try and 3 box him with a 69 Pal, 70 Sham, 65 Ench. After the 3rd wipe (all to adds) I was just thinking about packing it in when some guy zones in 6 boxing. He was after Zland of course but said he would help. He didnt even want to roll for the sapper so I got one of my dreams handed to me :)
I tagged along for the Zland kill for fun as I havent seen Zland for about 2 years :)

Received one yesterday, November 25th. He spawned in Vaniki room on the ledge. I pulled him to the zone with 65 druid. Took him down with 65 druid, 65 warrior, 65 cleric, 65 enchanter, 63 shaman, and 61 wizard. Was a long fight because of our lack of dps. Took about an hour and half total with deaths from the puller and rezzing/buffing. Also with enchanter seiving the whole time he still had mana to gate, although stun and manaburn took care of that. Good luck to all trying to get this item

can you please tell me where vaniki ledge is?
Can anyone confirm if this still drops since the revamp? Interested in getting this toy as it's the only Pally useable weapon that has any type of Slow on it /grin

Not true; there is a pally usabel slowing weapon from SG...;) 20% slow but any type of slow is better than none........

Even in this day of overpowered eye candy gear courtesy of SOE... this dagger is still one of the top aggro-producers in the game.
Weapons which proc a slow or other debuff generally will always generate more aggro than a dmg proc will. Mobs hate it when you reduce their ability to defend themselves... in fact, they hate that a lot more than they hate simply being damaged. A Wizard can nuke a mob for 2000+ and get away with it, but a chanter or shammy casting a tash or slow debuff will often get whacked by the mob.
Giving this to a rogue would be suicide for the rogue... but if your Warriors and other MT's ever get a chance to loot one of these, it makes an excellent addition to your ******** The high taunt of a Willsapper has *still* not been significantly surpassed by any other weapons dropped in any other zones (PoP included) in the game... highly recommended for you tanks out there. Particularly handy on mobs such as the Emp (who wipes his own hate list clean at regular intervals), and any time when holding yourself at the top of that all-important hate list is tricky.

Emp does NOT self mem blur (an avatar of Plane of Air does, though)
he procs a debuff on MA, with like 3k DD + 90% agro reducer, this means MA's agro will suddenly greatly drop, and if some overnuking peeps are a bit too close to MA (agro wise) they'll get munched
And a BoWar is far better agro than a willsaper, + less ripostes (and you want less ripostes against 3k quadding mofos) and far higher dps
not even talking about a Darkblade of the Warlord here
But willsaper will still stay one of the best agro weapons until EBs

ok look whoever thinks that a rogue should have this is a dumbass warriors are the only ones that should have agro or a pally ( only if they have higher hp and ac wich they prob wont ). Warriors are the ones that need the agro so if a rogue gets it they will get smashed to a bloody pulp and then u have to waste mana rez'n it when if u warrior had it there is still a chance he could die but the agro is still on the warrior and there for when its done proc'n u can switch back to main weps that deal more dmg and have either hate procs or DD procs.

-I got a willsapper at lvl 43. Im not sure what lvl it procs tho. Im 45 now and it hasnt proc'd yet. My cuzins helped me kill vaniki in DN. There was a 65druid, 65pally, 2 65 rogues, and a 65 ench. they took him down pretty easily, but i think he lifetaps alot, not sure. They failed the first time b/c someone ran over the bones and spawned a dragon and aggroed some other mobs. They brought him to the front and zone, who ever else was alive. Then they dragged and rezzed corpses. This mob Corpse Camps, so he was still at front. Once everyone got back, they all got on Vaniki and took him down in bout 10min. Great loot, but i just want it to proc soon!

Anyone know how fast he hits untill slowed, and how hard his max hits are for? obviously this is a higher-end tank's job to hold aggro on this mighty-mouse, but with all the new Planes of Power stuff, im sure any lvl55+ warrior could tank him. hell, even High Guardians of Justice hit for mid 400's~ funny how damage table and tank abilities have changed so much - this would make a strong weapon for my warrior twink (i bet thats gonna **** a lotta people off) =D
maybe it would be better to stick a pally in front of him if reposte proc is a concern. I think a pally can chain stun (stun component prolly won't work but for aggro) and not swing weapon at all while keeping taunt. Nother suggestion if you going with warrior would be to use evasive.

I want to know what is the best progress for a guild team to equip their MT with aggro producing weapons starting at about level 50 guild without twinking/buying.
