Why no apostrophe? My friend told me to search for the embalmber's skinning knife on here, so I did a search, and it kept coming up with nothing... until finally I asked in the bazaar and they told me what happened... Embalmbers! ARGH!
Additionally, they should let Berserkers use this... sure it's not a 2 hander, but every melee class but berserkers can use it.. for the effect obviously.
Just for those wondering, If you already have a pile of bandages on your cursor, this will still proc and subsequet piles will be there untill tou empty the piles to your invantory. So if it procs 3 times in a battle there will be 3 piles to be put into invantory. Yes I personally verified this
Pile = whatever amount you get per proc. It seems the amount you get is level bassed. Formula is Level/2 rounded up. So a level 11 (11/2 = 5.5 rounded up = 6) and a level 12 (12/2 = 6) will get 6 bandages per proc. Level 39+ will proc a Stack (20 bandages). Yes my observations verify this
Knife has to be weilded, so check pic above to see if your class is there, if it is not then this knife will be usless for you to use. Yes i have tried clicking, nothing, only worked in battle with something, greens as good as reds - greens just dont last as long. :)
I do not use this as my primary, just have it for the bandages
The commens below basicly say the same as here - no need read any further. :) Happy hunting.
Primary or secondary hand isn't a big deal. If you want lower DPS for a while, secondary. If you want even lower DPS but for a shorter time, primary hand.
Personally, I'd just put it in Primary and take some smacks at some weak MOBs. That'd be the fastest and least painful way to get some bandages from it.
Next time you see a rogue over 50th level ask him to link his weapons please. This weapon is probably THE most commonly seen item rogues all cross EQ have. It procs the one skill rogues have mastered by 40th and Warriors(that think they heal faster standing up haven't). Chances are you run into any warrior and he'll say something negative about this weapon. Then ask him/her what their Bind Wound Skill is and you may get mastered but you'll probably get "duh I haven't really used it much"
If you played a warrior you would know that this is standard issue to warriors and kept handy to almost all but the most raid heavy tank. it does lose its usefullness after lvl ~60. difficult and time consuming to bandage up 10K hps. warriors have NO utility spells or abilities. so clickies and beneficial procs are always on a warriors want list. AND ALL classes regen faster sitting.
i read somewhere else once that if you equip this item and start attacking a corpse that it would proc. sure enough last night i bought one and targeted another player's corpse. it doesn't look like you are doing anything but give it some time it should proc and poof free bandages!! i'm off to buy my beastlord one!
tested this on Vazaelle today (see above date) and it DOES NOT WORK ... just fyi ... I attacked a PC's corpse for about 10 mins w/o any bandages ... killed a greenie for 2 procs ... works great w/ new patch allowing everyone to bandage up to 70% health and WHILE you meditate too ... love it when soloing my lil enchanter ...
If I were to give this to a charmed pet, then sent him into battle for a while, then broke charm and killed him, would I find a lot of bandages on his body? I also curious about lupine dagger procs on charmed (or summoned) mobs. Would that allow me to have a Hill Giant disguised as a wolf in Oasis? THAT WOULD BE FUN! Especially when charm wears off and hes rooted by the docks :P <Maniacle Laughter>
An interesting idea, but I seriously doubt it would work. I could hear this thing proccing while I was fighting Cara, but she had none on her once she was dead.
This item is ideal for worken up your bind wounds skill. If you got two of them, even better. Sure, the damage isn't great (exspecially for rogue types), but you can't beat free bandages. I usually log on, kill several green mobs, enough to produce a bag or backpack full of bandage stacks. Then I'm off to do my thing. When I log off I make sure to hand out whatever is left over to those in need (being No-Rent and all). Again, I say you can't beat the convenience of this or two of these knives.
The fact that this procs in combat makes this knife much less useful. I do a LOT of bandaging, so I bought one of these, not fulling knowing how the effect worked (thought it was right-click)
Anyway, despite my angst, while sitting in KC, I pulled the knife out and started poking train mobs, and other people's pulls. It procs well enough, and the 20 bandages per proc is nice to have.
Altogether, a nice item, but severely hampered by it's Combat Proccing only. Not like it's already hard enough for us pure melee to get HP back, they seem to always want to make it harder. Oh well, Bind Wound (151) so I do ok either way...
This doesn't make it harder. Having bandages summoned through random proc makes it easier than having no bandages at all. The proc isn't extremely useful, I'll grant, but it still of some use.
This was a very nice present for me, a darkelf. I can't heal myself and it isn't easy to buy bandages since there aren't a lot of merchants willing to watch my inky face. I wouldn't have the money to buy as much as I need to level in this skill anyway. Now, it's all for free, and yes, we darkelves like 'for free'. An amazing weapon. Hehe, who would guess anyone would give a darkelf a gift!!!!

This dagger procs from level 1 onward. It summons a number of bandages equal to half your level rounded up. My lvl 36 warrior is getting 18 bandages everytime it procs now. I assume it caps at 20 per proc but I will have to level up a bit to find out hehe.
I have a lvl 40 warrior and first thing i do when logging on is equip my dagger and chase some greens for a few mins. I have a low dex (87) but it still procs on average once a mob (unless i pick really greens) and as people have said summons half your level rounding down max one stack of 20.
The bandages appear on your cursor and if you dont dump them in you inventory any further procs are lost as far as i can tell.
This bandages saves me a few pp a day which isnt much in the scheme of things but it does add up.
My advice is if you are a tank and you find you do use bandages (not all of us get groups with healers or even groups all the time) get one of these wether by buying it (last price i saw was about 200pp on vazaelle) or getting a group of friends to get it for you.
it has to be swung at the mobs for it to proc not sure if procs work on swings or hits, but either way 5 mins of slapping greens with this in offhand will get you some bandages.
Or if in a good group use it to improve your piercing skill.
All procs have a chance to go off on any swing, which is rather useful. If you're a caster with a proc'ing weapon you can stan well back and turn auto attack on, and even though you're out of melee range the proc will still hit (as long as you're within the proc effect range, consult the spell parser). The same is true of this knife.
i have a warrior friend who showed me this item and it really is great, my question is if im fighting a mob and just leave it in my range slot will it proc? or do i have to actually cause damage to the mob with my awful piercing skill.
Okay, so if I throw this thing at a mob, will the bandages appear in my hand, or will they appear on the weapon & then maybe somehow magically wrap themselves around the mob? Is this the famed-of-old Turn-Mob-Into-Mummy Dagger me grandpap always sang of? Oh my, I can hardly wait to try it out!
Don't throw this weapon around a Warrior, they may burst into tears. :P
If you toss it, you'll lose it, so if I ever got one, It would NOT be going into my range slot ever. I kinda like the idea of a weapon like this, however :)
some info, I read through about half the posts so not sure if this has been said....
Proc: It procs at lvl 1 and is not right clickable, it summons half your level in bandages. So if you are lvl 10 is summons 5 bandages, lvl34 summons 17 bandages .etc .etc
This is Cara's common drop and the 5 times I've killed her she has dropped this every time and the tome twice.
This is only true to a point. Post level40, you will only summon a stack of bandages, no more than a stack. But yes, Like the magician spell, you'll summon half your lvl up to 40.
well the first and most apparent is well ITS FREE and 2 is u don't have to travel to the nearest town saveing your grp from missing its tank (ps if u need bandaids in a grp get a clr fast) finnaly Num 3 think about the Evil Races, trolls, Ogres, Some DE's, i mean lets see for example, my troll warrior from 19 to current 21 is solo'ing the bard at the Wiz spires in NK, at lvl 19 when she spawned Red i was normally at 1 1/2 bubs to 2 bubs hp and the bandaids woulda helped (woulda pulled a low blue Borer beetle to get procs at lvl 19 bard would be to risky) i normally hada wait a x tra 2-3 min after she spawned to get full hp and i'm a TROLL (u know regen) think of Ogres and DE's w/o regen whats that prolly about a x tra 3-4 min after she spawned, i'm not flameing but when ppl Dis a great item like this its very annoying, i mean where are the Evil races gunna get Bandaids if they are KoS to anyone near them.

Well since it is NOT clickable you DO have to wield it to get it to PROC! The information here is incorrect and the effect is not triggered in the clicking sense. Calling people a "dumbass" under the guise of "Annonymous"... very brave of you.

Posted:May 03 2001 at 12:55 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Hey all, this knife sounds sweet, my character is a rogue, and well, I am sick of sitting around waiting for HP to go up, so if anyone would sell it cheap, 50pp or below to a lvl 12 Rogue I would be so appreciative, by the way I am on Sayryn Server, send me an E-mail Dan4440@hotmail.com or send a tell to Denala. Please if anyone could help me out with one of these, that would be great =)
heres an idea, instead of switching out a worthwhile weapon for this dagger, why not just dual someone in your group and proc it on them. then there is no loss in actual damage to mobs.
