What does this look like? Does it look good with barbed ringmail, and barbed ringmail legs on a wood elf ranger. I hate looking goofy.
Anyway about the nbg stuff below. If I wanted this I would buy it, I would not come here expecting an nbg default, that would take to long. My reasoning is this item is a prize for exping here. Everyone in the group helped win that prize. If it were a GUILD raid nbg/merit/dkp would be a better choice.
Ok i've read this entire forum and mostly what i see (and added too) is a debate about looting morals. Lets ask a question that ACTUALLY pertains to this item.
I see it says lvl to attain 41. does that mean a group of 41's? Or can a mid 30's Paladin join a group for it and be beneficial?
Ignore the 41, you wont be getting anywhere near this guy short of 55+ unless someone brings you there to loot the kill. i.e. not gonna happen as its droppable and if for some reason they were gonna give it away they could loot if for you.

To reply to fistanidu, HAve you played a Pally? or SK? Yes we are considered hybrid, BUT as a Pally/SK main job is Tanking, anyone that says our job is damage is dilusional, next to ranger HA! and vice versa anyone that says rangers are tankers LOL I laugh at your pitiful insight. Hybrids are still for a specific purpose only with small benefits. I dont know about anyone else but to consider us a caster class is rediculous.
I totally agree with you. When I made my SK I made him with Tank Stats, not caster, and got him Tank gear(well made him tank gear. Ogre war plate is Awesome!). And I might add I do quite a good job as MA in groups. Even with just Clarity I never run out of mana. On a raid I would not expect to be MA. Simply for /disc defensive.

All depends on how you choose to play your hybrid. As a human SK I'd rather watch someone else tank and take the damage, while I kick back and gain my exp without too much hassle. But then again...I also do a lot of soloing.
A few people asked for the price of these bad boys and no-one answered yet, so here goes. On Saryrn they go for between 3.5 to 5k, depending how lucky you are. I was very lucky, and they are awesome - a very sexy etched silver plate look on my Wood Elf Ranger. So sexy in fact, that I'm gonna stick around and get some more bits!
These go for 3.5 to 5k on Bristlebane also. I used to be like "Who cares about how an item LOOKS?!?!? If it is good, keep it!" Until recently when I fell into some money, and aquired these on my Elf Ranger, and now I want to get rid of all of my Ivy armor! Arms and Boots look sweet on her!
yah these came off a spider in frenzy....ack ...I hate when there is upgradeble items..for your class. and a druid or enchanter or something like that wins them .. uggg. 58th lvl paladin with rygor sleeves
In a pickup group full of people I've never met, I'm going for greed before need. If I'm in a group with friends or guildies, of couse I'm doing need before greed. Some people will sound righteous saying that they'll let a complete stranger loot an item that you could sell for 2.5k+ and buy something better for yourself. For those that don't have tons of cash in the bank, this is how better items are bought for our character. That's my view, some will agree some won't. Oh well.
Yep, I've lost out on 5 of these and I'm still using Rygorr arms. Velks is a very selfish zone. But when a CC shield drops you usually give it to the Priest class. Why is that?
P.S. I'm a Shaman, and it still baffles me.... I'd rather use a WIS arm item, but the best one out there that's obtainable and not no-drop is nathsar. I'd take the 18ac over those anyday
I joined a group then ran it for 15 hours in velks (marathon session).
20 minutes after a "change of the guard", these fell and the new warrior in the group decided he wanted them.
I'm a big fan of need before greed but there was a 2 AC difference between these and what he had on so I called for a roll (3 of us rolled -- 2 druids and 1 warrior). For a change of pace I won a roll.
I'm a Druid. These are 18 AC higher than my arms and I only lost 3 wisdom by switching to them so, a tad over 30 mana for a 2 increase in str, 5 increase in sta (now 100) and the 10 hp... first equipment upgrade in a long time for me and the first arm upgrade since 18th level.
My reaction to your "hate it when a druid..." is -- I could use them, I immediately switched to them so...
** bite me **
At the level it takes to hunt velks, there are extremely few warrior types with lower class armor.
I completely agree with you and when i read your post i was like AMEN BROTHER. I am a very big advocate of "Need Before Greed" and i make sure that i am almost 100% of the time the leader of any group i'm in. When something drops, say an item for a melee class, but a caster class picks it up, i immediately look at the warriors in the group. If they all already have better, then i call for a roll and leave it up for everyone in the group. If one of the warriors can use it then i ask the group if only the warriors can roll for it. Yes i know, now your thinking well now the casters are chumped. In my opinion its just something they have to deal with. Its the same if where in an area where caster items drops. Casters get first dibbs obviously. There is nothing i hate more than some greedy punk who ninja loots something and refuses to give it to who can use it. I make it my personal goal to make sure those people die over and over again. I just can't get the image out of my mind of some fat overwieght 13 year old, face all pimped hair unkept and smelling like he hasn't showered in 3 weeks sitting behind his computer. No friends what so ever so what does he care if anyone likes him in the game so he just played not caring who he upsets or how idiotic his actions are. Ninja looting and taking everything he can and blowing others off and going about his business. Anyone who behaves like this gets this imprint on them in my mind and suddenly get blacklisted on every guild i can contact.
Ninja looting and need before greed are two seperate issue altogether. Ninja looters are eq's least popular people everyone except the looters themselves realise this. need before greed however is argued about in a friendly manner with only the truely greedy causing problems , i have no problem with people in a pickup group calling for a roll on a dropable item hell they could want to twink an alt or just sell it too get that spell they need or sword they have been looking at for weeks, if they controbute to the effort to kill the mob they deserve the chance to win the loot.
If you object to this 'need before greed' arguement i surgest that you join a guild and group with them and not in pickup groups.

Your mind is like a parachute it only works if it's open 8o)
in all honesty, as a wizard, in a pickup group, I expect all/all rolls, considering there is no good caster loot ANYWHREE that exp groups go... I think that its only fair. I have a hard enough time getting a group as it is, and then to have someone tell me that we are going to make the only drops (which happen to be all melee) melee only. Sounds great for a melee... but the only good caster loot in velks is off velketor... Dont see many XP groups going after him. *shrugs*
And to agree with the wizard who expects all/all rolls, NBG always works out just great for melees. I can't remember the last time I was in a PICKUP group and something decent for wis or int casters dropped. And besides, with the high number of people who have multiple 50plus characters (against my measly one), NBG doesn't really apply as much as it used to. I mean in all fairness, does a person's third 50 plus char NEED to be better equipped than me?? May sound greedy, but I say NO. And selling the arms will maybe give me the oppurtunity to get decent caster stuff. And besides, in a strictly pick-up group, everyone shares the risk, so everyone should share (the chance) at the reward. If you want NBG, do what I did, get in a good guild where thats what you are supposed to do. In pick-up groups, don't expect strangers to want to equip you in some of the nicer shznit out there.
I believe in NBG as does my guild. While I agree that pure casters have less stuff drop in game, there is a very simple reason. There are less of there classes. Lets see, war, pal, sk, rng, bard, monk, rog, bst. thats 8 melee classes to only 4 pure casters. Wouldnt it make sense that there is more melee stuff? Now, you will run into people that truely dont need the items and just want to sell it, but if a person needs the item, it should go to them or be rolled on by all those that need on the character they brought, not a twink. If you dont believe in that, then why dont you camp something else? If you want a pickup group that you have a chance to get something you can use, then why dont you do a pickup group in Kael arena for armor? There is more melee drops becuase there is more melee in the game. As you could probably guess, I am a melee, a bard to be exact. If what drops would be an upgrade, then I will roll on it, if not, then I will let someone else have it. Also, if it is an upgrade, I will pass on the item I had to a member of the group since they are the ones that made it possible for me to have them, it is only fair. ***** this I could get better stuff from selling it crap. I am constantly broke and when I need something, I bust my **** to save up for it. Quit whining that I want that item cause I can sell it and make pp. If someone will use it, it should be theres first. Also, this ******** about others haveing more than 1 50+ character, play more, simple as that, you have a life? awesome, then dont complain that you cant play so much, you have something much better to be doing. Would you like it if I rolled on your epic piece? I mean, we all shared the risk.... I wont roll on something I cant use and will just sell unless no one else in group can use it either, thats the reason I am broke all the time, but I have my Honor.

I don't think you guys are gonna gimmi a bone caster robe if it drops. If you wanna be rich make a melee cause when melee armour drops its NBG, when caster stuff drops its all/all
I am in a very good guild and on raids we roll NBG and if it is caster only then only the casters roll, and we do not roll for alts. We had a robe drop on a raid and we went NBG, only 2 casters on the raid and they rolled between them. If it is Wis caster only then only wis casters roll, same for melee. If this is not the way your guild rolls NBG then it is just not a good guild.
seen these drop off some kind of crystaline spider... forgot which type heh, but the person that won was twinked majorly even being a 54 pally... cowl of mortality for gods sake! they won so was kinda gipped
Well, I hate to disagree with you Anon. But, I was with a group of peeps at the village on Friday December 8th. We did kill Topos and he did drop the cc arms. I'm on Druzzil Rho and I won the roll for the cc arms. I'm wearing them now. He also drops other armors including the barbed ringmail (didn't get those). Anyone that wants to see them can give me a tell in game.

Posted:Nov 08 2001 at 3:53 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ok lots of either A) misinformation or B) loot tables were updated and information was not. The CC Armplates are dropped off of crystaline hunters not Tpos. Tpos is a spawn in the village, and i've also been told he can spawn in the pit but i've never seen him spawn there, and he drops the barbed ringmail bp.
First, if you want to see what he looks like, click on the hotlink. Second, they say minimum level to attain is 41? I would just love to see a level 41 go against a level 58. LMAO one post says he did con as low as 53. But lets be realistic, even at 12 levels your senior, he would EAT YOU ALIVE. Well, just my 2cp.
Aye, I'm a 55 druid and we had two 58 warriors and a 57 cleric, a 60 shammy, and a 54 chanter, this guy is not ******** around. I was suprised to find the ac is better than the ToV arms, so I may be keeping these and trying to collect a few more pieces. 3 full groups of 41st lvl players would probably get eaten by these mobs...hehe. Honestly I would say min lvl to hunt (safely) would be aprox 50 give or take a lvl or two.
