The picture dosn't show it but these are magic, which for thouse of us who can kick these are a fairly inexpensive way to be able to kick gouls and wisps and such. I think I found mine on a vendor for like 8 plat. Sold em about 15 levles later for 20 plat so figure i made my self a nice litte investment.

My brother was fighting at orc 1 in ec and had a pair of these drop, does this seem strange to anyone else?

It means someone gave the boots to the orc so when someone killed him, they'd get the boots. A subtle way for people to give gifts. =)

I've personally done that before. Only with FS weapons and such from the Goblins, etc in Solusek. I gave bats, rats and snakes the stuff, and I figured that the newbs that started working for their stuff deserved it...
I'm a giving person, shut-up whoever knows me P, and I often (in EF mostly) put my old armor and stuff on newbie creatures. One time I put a Dwarven Ringmail tunic (a common item for me) on a polar bear cub in EF and later on heard a lvl 5 newbie shout, "I found an awsome tunic on this polar cub! Dwarven Ringamail, anyone wanna buy it from me for 10pp?" DOH! Stupid me, putting small items in a large zone.....oh well.
