Nice for a twinked low level char with not that much hp or strength. I got this for 100PP on The Tribunal.
Rediculous

Ok, I know this thing has decent str, but I still don't understand why you people get so worked up over things like this. I mean, yeah, I have on on my monkie, but I am understanding that str doesn't matter a hell of a lot if you don't have the dex to hit them with.

So the next logical step would be to increase dex if that is your issue.
From a Cleric's prespective:

On the whole warrior debate:

AC HP!!!! Please warriors! The person below who was arguing that strength was the most important stat for warriors took absolutely no consideration to how a healer will depend on him.

In any lvl 50+ group, if its a GOOD group, the only person being hit is the warrior (if there is one). As a Cleric, this is the only person I want to heal. If he has crappy ac/hp I don't wanna have to burn my mana complete healing him once or twice every fight! Leave damage to rogues and monks. If they're competent they'll know how to avoid aggro no matter how weak the warrior is.

Well anyways... this dropped earlier today for my bard. I replaced my 7dex 7agi necklace, pretty sure this is better, but still debating a little. Instead of warriors, I think this is a great great monk necklace (depending on lvl of course heh).

A friend of mine is a bard. He says the DEX helps with his songs, and I KNOW AGI helps you dodge hits. I think it's a matter of personal choice. You know better than anyone how you play your Bard, so you decide if it's better for you or not.

I have seen several people that keep several different items for the same slots because they switch out depending on what they are going to do at the time.

Ya i agree with u that warriors can deal a great about of damage but if u really want a damage dealer u should look into playing a rogue or a Monk at higher levels monks and rogues don't have ac for tanking they just give dmg, Rogues can do amazing damage at higher levels i got a level 37 rogue and he was bsing for about 220 and that is quite common per fight

Great for Rangers
# Dec 01 2001 at 5:42 AM Rating: Decent
This item is great for mid lvl rangers, str is good and rangers aren't meant for tanks and it takes that much longer to get enc, plus the fact that there is no neck ivy etched item, that 4 str also helps me to hit for almost 30 if not more w/ my yak, all in all this is one of the best items I have seen for a 34 ranger, and it's also affordable, if you get a deal at 150pp.
RE: Great for Rangers
# Aug 22 2002 at 2:44 PM Rating: Default
not realy for ranger. i have a 45 ranger and he has like 52 days playing time on him. i like to trade, have fun, talka lot and do quests and help others (i am former leader and now second in command of swift justice guild on AB server) and i think i am a pretty xperienced ranger player. Str isnt everything altho very nice. (mines has 182 self buffed hehe) we also REALLY need STA and AGI! sta for more HP and if u use weapons like centi LS or wurmy it helps so u dont run out of stamina ( sitting back to cast invigor is annoying and the tolans boot effect dont work til 45 and u should have better than centi LS and wurmy by then. i currently use defiance and Frostbringer) and also for HP. And agi is to help you avoid hits! the higher agi the more you will riposte and dodge etc. So str isnt everything. Altho of course if u always grop with ppl then go for it altho when u try to solo you will get it handed to you
AC v Stats

You have it wrong. AC is GOD. Str and HP are king. Go for AC, AC, AC, every little bit you can. Work up your Str and HP if you can, but concentrate on AC.

AC is king for a warrior. Plain and Simple. Anyone who says otherwise either has never played their warrior to high level, or thinks that warriors are meant to deal out damage. Warriors are meat shields and nothing more... be a tank...and be fast for taunt effect.

Anyone who thinks warriors can't deal out damage has no idea what a warrior is capable of.

I once hit a mob with two cripling blows that did a total of 340dmg. That's about as high as Wizard nuke around my level (31st). Not to mention adding up how much damage and I can duke out in a fight. Total it up afterwards and I do more than most casters. The difference being they can hit for hard damage at once.

My str is 188, AC and Str are King. No use trying to aggro something if your hitting like a wimp and if they aren't hitting you what's the point of having high ac, other than having enough time to get your **** out of the zone after the mob kills your casters.

If you have anything less than a fine plate collar, this is a good item to have.
RE: AC vs Stats
# Dec 25 2001 at 2:42 PM Rating: Decent
You have a long way to go from lvl31 Vykore.

You can deal damage, but overtime you will definitely fall behind monk, rogue, and wizzy.

Warrior discipline make warrior the best meatshield. AC is still the king. HP is next, STA close for a tank.

Seriously STR, AGI, DEX are nice, but they do not contribute to the combat as much as the above three.

Well I'm level 40 now and I'm still sticking with what I say. However my argument never was that Warrior's dish out the most damage, but that we can dish out great damage if we're equipped right and still take a beating. We'll always be the best at taking a beating but for us to aggro, you have to expect us to hit pretty hard and fast.

As for Stamina, as a Warrior, never ever worry about Stamina. It barely gives that much of a boost to your HP. Concentrate on 3 things as a Warrior. AC, Str and Resists.

If monks and rogues didn't have the capability to out damage a Warrior, the game would be pretty umbalanced. But never under estimate us.

Therefore if you ever did pick up this item and you were wearing something similar to a fine plate collar (8ac) Trust this warrior here. It's worth it to dump 4ac for 4str and 30hp. Doesn't make the world of difference, but it'll help.

"Well I'm level 40 now and I'm still sticking with what I say."

And you're still wrong. Strength contributes so little to damage output in this game it really isn't worthwhile to concentrate on it. It's obvious that you haven't done log parsing comparisons of your damage output with different strength amounts because if you did, you would be somewhat disheartened by how little effect strength has for your total damage output.

Not to mention that many quality warrior items, in addition to having high ac, +hp, etc., also have strength modifiers on them, so a warriors strength is generally going to be high regardless.

"As for Stamina, as a Warrior, never ever worry about Stamina. It barely gives that much of a boost to your HP. Concentrate on 3 things as a Warrior. AC, Str and Resists."

The person you replied to couldn't be more correct, and you couldn't be more wrong. AC and HP are king for a warrior. Yes, I know that you put AC first in that sentence, but you're advocating dropping 4ac for a measly 4 strength, so I don't believe that you have your stat priorities straight. The more damage you can take and mitigate, the better off you and your groupmates will be.

To put it another way, sacrificing 100 strength would have a miniscule effect on your damage output. Sacrificing 100AC, on the other hand, will have a major effect on your ability, or lack thereof, to mitigate damage.

The only stat worth pursuing for a pure melee is stamina, because as you get closer to level 60, stamina does have a big effect on your hit point totals, especially for a warrior.

Resists are only important for raids. It isn't worthwhile to sacrifice anything for resists for day-to-day hunting.

If you still don't believe what you have been told here, go to any warrior message board where high end warriors hang out and ask them. I GUARANTEE you that they will basically echo what you have been told here.

I could post my reply here but I think this is off topic but I invite you to take it to the Warrior boards if you actually want to argue it.

You say go to the warrior boards, I HIGHLY suggest you do. You may be in for a bit of a surprise you may not like. There have been many discussions not so much arguments on this topic many times.

Just to clarify...

The warrior is the damage taker (heehee... 'meat shield'... exactly). The God of damage dealing is the rogue. That's why warriors taunt to gain aggro and rogues evade to lose it. Sure, warriors can deal out nice damage... but their true role in an efficient group is to take the pain, allowing their rogue compatriots to wreak havoc from behind the mob.

Spawn area and other
# Aug 29 2001 at 10:51 AM Rating: Decent
This item is far better than the orc fang necklace. I was camping this creature with a monk friend of mine an it dropped. He had the orc fang necklace and I won the roll on this amulet...i opted to give it to him in trade for the orc fang necklace. The stats own!

Also, the life leach spawns near the geinoids, at the base of the ramp. I have only seen it once in like 3 hrs of camping

The corner at the base of the ramp is one of the leeches spawn spots, but not the only one. I've also seen it in the stalag hall.
Much Better . . .
# Aug 29 2001 at 7:41 AM Rating: Decent
This Item is much better than an Orc Fang Necklace, at least for Warriors. The reasons are:
Someone said that AC is King for Warriors. True, but Str and HP (Especially HP) are also King.
This thing is excellent because it is fairly common, cheap, easy to get. Someone said that orc fang, ry'gorr collar, and ruined lava pendent are better, because lava pendent has more str, and collar has more AC, but the great thing about this thing is that it has STR and HP in the same item. AC is a little better on Orc Fang and Ry'Gorr, but not enough to merit using them for a Warrior. The neck slot is not a big AC slot anyway, and 1 AC either way is NOT going to make a difference in a fight, although 30 HP might!
If you are trying to decide between this and Orc Fang, Take this one, Sta and Agi are not as important as the 4 STR and 30 HP.

Which would you suggest a warrior should wear, this or an Orc Fang Necklace? Any input is appreciated.

RE: Decisions
# Aug 07 2001 at 8:59 AM Rating: Decent
Chipped Velium Amulet AC: +4 Str: +4 HP: +30 wt 0.1
Orc Fang Necklace +5 AC +3 Strength +3 Stamina +3 Agility wt 1.0
The Orc Fang is superior in AC. As a warrior I'd go with the orc fang, especially if your stamina is below 100. Avoiding one hit with the extra point of AC is more important than the 30 HPs; I think eeven the bunnies in Eastern Wastes hit for 30. When your STA is above 100, you don't get stat penalties for being out of stamina. Monks may opt for the CVA to avoid the Orc Fang's weight.
If you are a warrior having encumbrance problems, the CVA may be the better choice because it offers more strength at much less weight to keep you agile longer. You don't want to use a full point of STR just to wear the Orc Fang when trying to solve the encumbrance issue.
AC is king. One less point of AC to solve an encumberance problem is one way to maintain your AC once the loot begins to pile up.
RE: Decisions
# Aug 29 2001 at 5:07 AM Rating: Default
As an alternative to either the Orc Fang or the Chipped Velium, I would highly recommend a Ry'gorr collar, which has a 9ac (much better than either of these). As a warrior, AC is be king (well, saves are regarded most highly as king as I am sure someone would mention at some point). The str of an item should never become a deciding factor over the AC on an item when the difference is this great, and when the stats on a Ry'gorr collar are still quite good.

I have never played a Warrior myself - but I believe this would be the better choice. This amulet is superior in the 3 key warrior stats (AC, STR, HPs). For tanks especially, these are king.

leaches are pretty common spawn and these drop ever single time!!!! we where giving them away after the 7th leach because they where lore and everyone in our group alrdy had one. These should not go for more then 100pp!!! There that common. Only class this is really good for is monk and you should be able to get a uthork hide collar 7ac 30hps or a runed lava pendent 6ac 5str over this crap.. But... Great twink item and ok for monk like I said. Just wouldnt pay more then 100pp because thats about how much the trip down to cc is worth to me:)

I have no idea what you are talking about. Suggesting that an item that thousands of people use every day is cursed or bugged is rediculous. It is far more likely that either YOU are cursed or bugged, or you are full of it, or you are mistaken. But it doesn't make any difference to me, so please refrain from posting obviously useless and misinformed crap like this on these boards. Thank You.
