Scars of VeliousIt is all very well some of you guys saying 'Why use this item when you can have another with 500 Charisma and 200 Dex plus a get out of jail card' but not everyone has unlimited money and acess to the whole shopping list :)
I am an untwinked level 17 Mage with no access to the Bazaar so finding one of these in West Commonlands for 210pp was a cause for celebration. I have managed to find reasonable enhanced items (ie extra int or save magic whatever) for every slot except the face. It was only last week that I managed to upgrade from a 1 AC cloth veil to a 2 AC silk veil and that was only because I made it myself :) As a find it ranks just behind getting an Oracle Robe for 47pp from a vendor.

i looked at the pricing and it says 493p....thats pretty good....and id say accurate....
but i went into oasis to get rid of some greater lightstones tht were cluttering my inv(at 43 i dont know why i had em) and when i looked thru the merchant list as i always do i saw this item for sale. i thought it would be a great upgrade from my 5dex5cha veil....and for only 211pp from vendor

I miss at Alakhazam the best monk item at all. It calls Monks brain.
It was once a common drop, but just for short time(not sure if any ever looted it), and for some reason they nerfed it, long long time ago.
I hope Verant will take this cool Monk item back, than I want to farm it, and sell for 10k at east commons. I am sure, i will get the richest person of norrath.

i dont know about much on other servers but on mine most chanters wear that velium veil that gives 10 cha/10 dex. Well at least the one in my guild does...not saying it is better, just my 2cp.

Every time someone sees an item with charisma they scream enchanter and bard item! OMFG! EVERY bard and enchanter MUST OWNZ ONE OF DEEZ R0X0R PH@T L3WT ITEMZ!!! And then some cheese for brains looks at the weight and shouts that this ITEM IZ K3WL 4 MONKZ! What all you posers fail to understand is that real enchanters, bards and monks look at the items available to their respective classes that are much better than what you are looking at (incandescent mask, guise of deceiver and any of a gazillion face items that weigh under 1.0 for a monk.) Then they wonder how long ago you came from UO and how far below level 15 your main is and if your that same idiot who thought that it was impossible to level a wizard unless you begged for cash and bought all the level 1 spells before you were level 2 and got a port to commons because toxxula or steamfont were just too hard to fight in...
Some random guy who can get to level 2 with 2 spells and a robe or a guild tunic and a sword and thinks this item would be handy for his necro to carry in a bag for when he visits the vendors...

and then there's always the idiot that doesn't really know what he's talking about. this happens to be a damn nice face item for both a monk and a chanter. granted it's not as good as some items but for those of us who play on a pvp server and can't readily go into upper guk to get what's required for the incandescent mask. hell i was lucky to escape without a very long CR from freeport when i went after the golden rod for the rod of insidious glamour quest (which happens to drop in an area which is perfect for evading an onslaught of attackers from any direction. as for stats, for a monk's face, at the lvl required to obtain this item well this gives around 5ac total. 4 dex 3 agi is awesome for a face item at this lvl and fire and disease resist are very nice (esp since for the monk epic one of the first fights is in a pool of lava, FR becomes really handy). as for a chanter, 8cha is pretty damn good as far as i remember from looking up stuff for mine. and the resists, a definate plus. and my friend, it's obvious that this item wasn't made for any class really that can wear plate. rogues normally wear their illusion masks, and casters for the most part have a veil with int/wis on it. so other than just an accessory, this really does boil down to a chanter/bard item that's pretty nice for monks/rogues that aren't wearing the deception masks.
so basically the moral of the story is think about what you say before you say it.

Yeah, I have two +7 cha bracers that Fae carries with him at all times to equip before selling to vendors. Of course I'm much to flakey to remember to equip them before I sell, but still, on the off chance that I DID remember, they'd be there.

After clearing the 5th floor last night about 10-12 times, we only had one Laced Veil drop off Daman. How can this be considered common? Anyway, nice stats on it, although I didn't win the roll for it. I did get the Diamond Wedding Ring though, so won out in the end anyway. I'm not sure if Nosja drops this as well as Daman though.

The Incadescent Mask is monk wearable also.
So I suppose this veil would probably be comparable to that. Enchanter would get better use out of both the veil and the mask though due to the high CHA bonus.

Actually, I use the veil simply because of the 1 more point of cha. I have a 219 int when buffed, but only a 199 with incan mask for cha

This item is a typical monk item with Enchanter and Bard overtones. Expect this item to retain a good market value for resale. Its very versitle. Now all I have to do is get one hehe.

more like enchanter item period. just as usual monks think every item should be theirs. take for example... crown of king tranix ac13 cha15 RM20 weight0.5 every time on a naggy raid this drops all the monks put in for it even tho its clearly a chanter item . save your breath ive heard the argument "its an awsome monk head peice" how about going to lower guk and kill the king his common drops a crown ac12 RF20 RC20 weight1.0 . the reason i bring this point up is because everytime i goto EC trying to buy a trannix crown its always a monk who is selling it well 8 out of 10 times the other 2 times its a chanter who finally won the insideous in hate. 2 times the monk who was selling it was the same monk who had won it at the last naggy raid(ahhh feels much better now that i vented)
Because to use your example frogy crown has 1 less ac and weighs 2x as much.
