Um, duh, what slot do you think a BRACER would go in? Feet?! You haven't been playing long if you haven't figured out yet that bracers are wrist items.
Hey I put these bracers and gloves on in Oasis and was killing crocs with glee, then all of a sudden I started to take faction hits with the Orcs. I didnt face an orc all day and took 9 faction hits and I was being aggroed by orcs when I was near pillar one. Im serious every 5 minutes I would take a faction hit and an orc or a pair would come after me. Whats the Deal?
Actually it's not a Kunark/Velious only bug, helping anyone who is killing something with factions anywhere will cause you to also take a faction hit (it adds you to the hate list otherwise clerics could heal you all day and never aggro anything)...if you do this and that mob walks by another of it's kind then you are now on their hate list also, and if it walks by another... In Velious and Kunark this is more noticable because there are more mobs with faction wandering around in the well traveled zones and the zones are so big that mobs tend to stop chasing you if you get too far away, something that doesn't even seem to happen in the old world. Bards see it because they tend to 'help' their entire group roughly every 6 seconds, where as other casters only help one person at a time when they cast a heal or buff or whatever that lasts a lot longer. So basically you aggrod an orc somehow either by getting too close to one or casting on someone fighting one or some bug in the zone and it walked by all it's friends who walked by all their friends... Yes it's a bug but I try and use it to advantage...go nuke a goblin or sarnak in kunark and then run really far away but don't zone and watch the faction hits go by, or better yet bring a bard with you to one of the camps and after a short while you won't have to send someone out to pull. Gee that almost sounds like exploiting a bug but since that bug has exploited me to some very painful deaths and I now know about it I think I'll milk it until Verant is forced to 'nerf' it and then my bard or cleric can safely walk through kunark without every sarnak and his mother coming up and saying hi.
Edit Note: as of a recent patch, the 'aggro bug' seems to have been fixed and no longer do you get the faction hits all the time, the info that verant gave was that if you are out of a mob's aggro range it won't pass it's hate off to fellow mobs, this seems to have eliminated this bug or at least made it happen far less often.
Ok, in Velious and Kunark the hate lists work diffrently than the rest of the world. In the "old world" you kill something it dies good. In Kunark/Velious if you heal, buff, or help out some one killing a mob in any way then you have just put yourself on the hate list of any one on that faction. You kill/help kill/buff some one killing a giant and all giants will hate you. You may not notice it at first but after a while it builds up high enough that you start takeing faction hits, that is when it is time to zone/relog to clear you hate lists. I don't think that they have changed this in the old world but they may have. Now it's time to go rant about mages needing mana regen again, check in later, maybe.
Actually, I know what you were talking about but it's not the item's fault. It's yet another bug in the game... I was in oasis the other night and was killing crocs. All of a sudden my brother in law and I are are getting faction hits (negative) with orcs! Someone shouted out the same thing so everyone playing in that particular zone was gettting faction hits on orcs.
Anyhow, to sum up a long story, about 20 other people, along with myself petitioned about the problem. I didn't hear a word back from any GM (what else is new) and my faction with orcs stands untouched even after the hits... Which is dubious, but I'm not worried. Oasis orcs wouldn't want a piece of me anyhow, I'd eat their lunch. =)
When I was hunting in the Frontier Mountains, there were a could of times that I would get Burynai or Goblin faction hits for no reason at all... multiple times, in fact. Didn't have mobs appearing to attack me though, that's new.
Got two of these last night soloing Ulthorks to see what they drop. Got gloves and bracer off a hunter, and another bracer off a warrior. Seem to be very common, I killed about 5. These Ulthorks also drop the Walrus Tooth 6/22.
