I got one at the bazaar on Luclin server for 2pp, even though my kitty has nightvision, the stats are nice for a starting beastlord.

Yes, to confirm, my BST got one last night and it is a nice lightsource, no more GLS taking up an inventory slot! I also double checked to see if it is a lightsource because I died and then looted the skullcap first, and wow it got a lot brighter!

I am just now noticing with the new patch (July 24th 2002) that this is no longer a light source? Can anyone else confirm that?
Ahhh .. the lovely Foreman's skull cap looks like a black chain coif over the head and goes well with just about any armour. The light source is very bright, and should serve your new characters well. It is not a difficult item to aquire for levels 35ish, and just about anyone who hunts CC will get you one for a very very small fee (trolls will hunt it for food ... )
It makes a very decent helm for most of the useable classes through the mid twenties ('tis a bit heavy for monkies who tend to lose their balance when kicking as it makes them a bit top heavy). the 2 stamina is a pleasant suprise and helps to get you over the 100 min stamina for young melee classes and the plus 10 cold save made the item useful during my Lady Vox raiding days.

I dont know about other server so please dont flame me about what happens there...but on ECI you cannot get more than 100pp for one of these and that would be by shear luck. These are like the dwarven ringmail tunic of SoV.

why is this listed in the " updated items" its the same as it always has been..same goes for a lot of the items on the cover page..i think they just add these things to make ya think there doing something for our monthly prem.

its proly updated because its now beastlord and vah shir wearable (that where a lot of the updates are coming from)

BST can wear also...just sent in a correction. The black metal look is nice for a normally leather class.

i am off to cc all, this helm awaits my arrival! not only is it great stats such as str, it has a lightsource, even tho i can turn into a de, it can be used in un=evil places =)

I picked up one of these last night for 100p! As I entered E Commons Mall, I did an auction "Looking for a nice Pali Helm" and a guy shot me a tell offering it for 100p. I didn't even make it to the tunnel... It's a good fit for my character, until a Skull shaped Barbute or a BA Coif.

I wouldnt pay more than 300pp for one these if that. Because They sell for a bit less than 350pp on a vendor witch jack there prices why up as we all know.This was on A pirate vendor in the igloo camp when you get of boat.

I heard vendors sell lamentations for 50pp. Does that mean I should sell mine for 20?
I really think that vendor prices are never a good thing to go by, just sell them for what you want to. Usually the vendors are way higher. But sometimes they are way lower. Don't try to compare prices with them, it's just dumb. Oh yeah, I got mine for 250pp P.

Hell I bought a Polished Granite Tomahawk from an vendor on The Rathe for 5pp. I was so happy. It was great getting that deal from a vendor but too bad I was kos to all the guards in HHK. (Erudite Shadowknight) I remember losing 1 and a half lvls getting out of there...But my PGT saved my butt a few times while soloing the exp back.

I had some crazy good luck with a 38 monk,in 2hrs got a BCR to drop*sigh*already had 1:( and the foreman dropped the cap,great night with great xp:)MONK'S kick serious ***=)

I snagged one of these the other day. I would definately say that its an EQ version of a flashlight. I handed it off to my barbarian to use and damned if I cant see at night. (I'd estimate about 5 times greater than the light output of a greater lightstone.)
I've been toying with the light output on my barb warrior, and found that a GLS still gives off a tiny bit more light. Then again, I've also got a Split Paw Hide Mask as well as the Foreman's and the GLS... too bad lightsources don't stack in effect.
Either way, it makes it easier to see.

The Foreman was Blue to me at 36. So it can be obtained alot earlier than 40

Agreed. This guy alone is less than 40, but there might be difficulty in getting him by himself. More often than not, I've seen one of Foremen near a handful of other orcs (miners, watchmen, oracles, etc), and usually in the pit itself, which is no good for a single pull.
BUT, what I HAVE noticed, is that the orcs seem to spawn randomly at all of the spawn-spots in the orc zone. Being a druid, I entered CC for such items as the WIS belt and cloak, and was looking for the "other" orcs like the herbalist and the inspector.
So, it was quite a joy to see the herbalist pop at the very first spawn point once, and a Foreman at the second point, where they could easily be pulled alone. It seems that these are all considered unique MOBs, so if there is an herbalist up somewhere, it's not going to pop up in front of you elsewhere. Likewise, of course, with the Foremen.
Soloing the entrance was great EXP for me, was rather safe, and good for socializing with all who entered the caverns. And if the place is busy enough and people are clearing the Foremen and herbalists elsewhere, there's a chance you could get one of them right at the entrance, which I did. :)
Which means even a group or duo in their LOW 30s *could* pick one of these up!

I have to date seen two different Foreman in Crystal Caverns, Foreman Smason and Foreman Rixact.
I have kiled both many times, I looted the skullcap off of Foreman Smason, but both Foreman's drop them, other drops include Frozen Long Sword, Crystalized Sword, and velium weapons. Last night I killed the first one that was weilding a weapon and dropped the skullcap. (I had thought if they were weilding a weapon, they didn't drop the cap, which had been my experience with 7 foremen so far) Nice item for melee classes, just abit too heavy for my monk.
