New benefit...
# Jul 20 2004 at 5:47 PM Rating: Decent
Keep junk buff in first two or three slots. Once you get your truly beneficial buffs click the junk buffs off, go fight. If you manage to get some nasty spells(Malos/Tash come to mind)they will land in slots one or two. Instead of taking up your cleric or shammys spell slots for cure disease just switch your off hand weap with this and wait for a proc or two. If you did it right the malos or tash should go away. BTW this is only something I thought of, I will test it out on my warrior to see if it is useful for that.

Cancel magic won't get rid of Tash. Only removing poison counters will.

Since only the proc requires lvl. 45, it is a nice weapon until then (with excellent DEX). Just picked one up last night and gave it to friend's RNG alt.

Good idea. Especially since the weapon has no required level on stats, it's quite nice until you can proc it.
This sword looks TIGHT

I think this sword is a sweet looking sword, but overall the weapon is pretty bad. I'm just wondering if someone could tell me the names of a few more weapons that have the same graphic as this weapon, possibly a 1 handed slashing weapon plz?

Thx =)

PS- I know Black Blade of Tormenting has the same graphic as this one, im looking for something better.

I bought this sword because i thought it would dispell the buffs on the monster i was attacking. Took me a while to realize that it was dispellign MY OWN BUFFS.

What kind of weapon attacks its owner? Sheesh.

Only use I can see is if fighting caster mobs who dot a lot, and you are unbuffed.

Yes it removes detrimental spells as well as buffs. There were a few times my warrior was rooted running thru dreadlands, when he was younger, that he wished he had one of these.

If you cast identify on this it says "Spelleater the Cursed Blade". So I guess that explains things :) Quite nice to have some cursed items around, even if only for roleplay purposes.

Still... a cheap way to boost up dex when practicing picking locks etc.
Fletching

I got this sword when I was quite low in level, now I keep it for when I am fletching. The raised Dex, along with a Geerlock Planing Tool and I cut down on my failures, which matters alot when you are working with condensed subtances and acrylia shafts.....

However since before the last patch mine has become NO DROP on the FV server, anyone else having this problem? I had a friend hold it for me, and now I cannot get it back.

It is in fact no-drop looted one just a minute ago. The giant did not put an augment in it himself.
RE: Fletching
# Mar 12 2004 at 6:31 PM Rating: Decent
The fact that it been augmented is probably your problem.
RE: Fletching
# Feb 03 2004 at 5:42 PM Rating: Decent
I don't know about it being NO-DROP....sounds like your "freind" added an augmentation stone from LDoN and that made it NO-DROP.....have him remove the stone in the birdbath, then it'll be normal again

There has been a long running argument about whether or not Stats will help you reduce failures in tradeskills. The majority of folks have agreed that it will NOT help you reduce failures, only help your chances of geting skillups for non-trivial combines.

My personal experience has found that to be true (you won't succeed any more often), but I say 'Hey, it cant hurt to have skills up, as long as you are using a geerlok as well, if it makes you feel better'. Smiley: twocents

Check that your friend didn't put an aug from LDoN in it. Doing so makes any item NO DROP.
BARDS
# Oct 06 2003 at 1:39 PM Rating: Decent
This is also a great bard weapon....Not for soloing melee, but for duel wielding a drum and kiting. You don't have to worry about debuffing yourself as long as you don't slash anything with it. I use it all the time in addition to my Thunderous Drum of Karana, and I like the added DEX. When I get in a melee group, I use a different weapon.

I had this sword many levels ago and the +20 dex was nice. Since it started procing on me and removing my own buffs I dumped it. Now I am level 64 and am considering picking one of these up. Your joking you say?...
No. Most of the time in groups I use my bow. I can switch it out in my primary spot with my Disemboweler so I can max out my dex. Sometimes you group with only a necro in LDon missions, meaning no shaman no enchanter. So in this case 20 dex would increase my damage

The Focus Effect
# Jul 31 2003 at 10:52 AM Rating: Decent
I got this in the Bazar for 200pp and mostly for the Dex bonus for my Ranger. It seems like a good weapon. My question: I cannot get the focus effect to work. Every time it kicks in I get a message that says "You will is not strong enough to use this" or soemthing like that. I looked at the raw spell data and checked around, but I don't see what "my will" (WIS? INT?) is and how high is it suppose to be. Anyone know?

EDIT: Okay, I didn't notice the first time. But, I'm too low a level at this time to use the focus effect. So, nevermind.

# Oct 06 2003 at 1:37 PM Rating: Decent
Dude...Your "will" is the required LEVEL. And a lot of items have this. I don't know what THIS particular level req is, but some are low like level 20 and other high like 51...

-Lutelian
Use it right!
# Jun 30 2003 at 9:18 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, the obvious is use it untill 45 and then dump it unless using for craft skills only.
The next thing is that it is still fine for 45+ by a war who solos without buffs, as mentioned by some others here.(Boy do I love bandaids!)Also mentioned was for bow use. This also applies if you can use items for your buffs.
But for these folk it should be mentioned that it is a boon when getting debuffs cast on you, this is when you will just want to worship it.

I got this in Bazaar on an OOC for 300. I finally took the advice of putting the lo-er delay in the secondary slot. Shaded Blade is now in the bank. This and a Lammie help a 3footer to hand out some damage. It does effect as often as I see 'Your will is not sufficient to command this weapon'.....but, I have low Wisdom.....

while i realise 95% of the population of this game are bluebies this can actually be a decent wpn in a pvp battle...if you happen to be out of pumice stones whip this bad boy out till it procs a couple of times and bam your enemy is now quite a bit easier : )

i see this weapon in my hands post 45 for bow kiting. not many weapons with 20 dex on them unless your uber. going to get this wep just to put in my hand wile bow kiting at 55 plus. but im only 43atm so unless i happen to get some great uber gear before that ill be having this one in my hand. the proc sucks but while using the bow it shouldnt proc. if im wrong please let me know before i get myself killed.
RE: good for rangers
# Jan 13 2003 at 4:36 PM Rating: Decent
Exactly! Only reason I picked this sword up was for bow-kiting. Otherwise, it is a Shaman/Chanters nightmare (besides the rest of your group) when you finally dispell their cast to slow the mob. Play it safe and pick up a Jagged Blade of Mourning with the +10 Dex :)

Proc Vs. Magician Pets
# Dec 15 2002 at 5:30 PM Rating: Default
I was having a duel with a friend of mine who has this sword. I am a 53 high elf magician and he was a 24 ogre warrior. I summoned a vocarate fire pet thinking it would be easier since it only has about 900hp. I BO3'd and DS'd it, then sent it in to kill the ogre. Two seconds later POOF, no pet...both of us stop...wtf? Turns out that the sword proc'd and banished my pet, completely obliterated him. Pissed me off that a sword with such a weak proc could utterly destroy my pet with one hit.

That's funny, considering the wep doesnt proc until level 45, I really doubt your story.
This sword has a purpose
# Nov 25 2002 at 12:11 AM Rating: Decent
OK the dex is really nice and the proc suckd but if you have click effect buffs generally you put them on first incase a mob dispells you just do the same, also if your fighting something wiht a ds this is a grest proc.
900+ price?
# Oct 30 2002 at 11:44 PM Rating: Decent
Hmm, if it gives +20 dex, and dex helps procs, then below 45 warrior could equip in off hand and use a dd proc weap in primary? Would that work?

My 19th level warrior bought one of these for off hand, he's got wak of frozen skys for primary, it procs at 20, for 100 plat last night. I hope it works, otherwise have another wak for off hand.
not that bad!
# Oct 20 2002 at 10:50 PM Rating: Decent
This sword seems to be getting a bad rap. While I agree you would not want to use this sword when your level will make the weapon start to proc(in a group), I think it is perfectly suitable for players under the proc limit, or players that solo and do not cast beneficial spell on themselves.

this sword serves only one purpose. Designer gave it to the mob so the mob keeps disspelling debuffs and dots off itself making it a more difficult encounter. There is no reason for anyone to ever use it
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 13 2002 at 4:01 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) last i heard this wep procs on wielder so it sux i mean sure 20 dex thats nice but say you are high enough for proc ? and you just paid for KEI and Ageolism and a bunch on other buffs to solo the thing proce boom you down one buff.. eventually you loose allb uffs and 110 pp from paying for em... i mean think abotu it why woudl verant put 20 de on an item with a proc unless the proc was on you? as is the same for adamite staff it nice untill it starts procing... sure with this thing i stick on offhand and put somthing with goodf stats and a proc that proc for my lvl untill of courw i am high enough for sword to proc then i dump the think but once again you can't get the thing with out camping and by the time you can camp it will proc un less u gonna twink ... any way i am just sayying a item with more than 5 dex is usally bad unless named mob loot or veeshan or sokthing and befor you by a 39/29 shs checkthe proc and make sure you have a good long time to slaughter mobs with the sword before it starts procing...
