For the price in bazaar this 17AC bp is junk only the +10 str is of interest. 17 AC is not much beter than banded armor. The 20AC netherbian chitin bp can often be acquired for 20pp or free.
From a SK pov it wants the high AC and Intel, but unless got a few 1000pp or a hi lvl to hunt lvl 45+ mobs one has to settle for the netherbian or a 25AC enameled black chestplate. Btw this bp loots of a lvl 45 mob?!
Frosted steel bp 27AC & 6 intel smithy triv 212 sells for near same as this Ry'gorr bp.

My 17 Shadowknight on Povarscored this one in the bazaar for 200 PP. This is an excellent choice for SK's, given the stats of this thing. Plus, it looks great.

Actually, Ry'Gorr should only be temporary for plate classes until they can afford to trade up. There is much better available for warriors, sk, and paladins even clerics. For chain classes, though, Ry'Gorr is probably pretty close to the top as far as AC is concerned.
If you were me and I were you, would we still be friends?

Unless you're an ikky sk, in which case you can't wear plate, so this is pretty nice for us.

Iksar can wear plate, most are just too lazy to find plate that is iksar-wearable.

A person with a lvl 13 traded it to me for a brigandine tunic :) and 40pp too <laughs>. the funny part is that that person is 2 lvls higher than me. But actually i need to know whether or not i should trade this or sell it for sumthin else or if i should keep it. I am a wood elf warrior. thank you

Consider yourself very lucky. I would keep it. If you need a really good weapon, though, like a Centi ShortSword, then I'd sell it.
what's better

for a halfling warrior. what would be a better BP, the Ry'gorr BP or the Crafted BP?

Depends. Normally for a warrior, you'd want to go for the crafted, since AC is king. However, since you are a halfling, you're strength is probably a little low. Not only does that affect your max hit, but your attack as well. If you seem to miss a lot, and ac is high enough that you don't need to be healed a lot, then go ry'gorr. If you can keep taunt well, but get hit often, for a lot of hp, go for the crafted.

I have a human warrior, and he wears crafted. But then, his strength is around 160 unbuffed.
Ranger armor?
# Mar 05 2002 at 9:59 AM Rating: Decent
I was camping around Ry'gorr the other day and picked up a few items. I had seen many WAR and RNG twinks with it but had never checked it out. It's definitly nice armor for Rangers, although I dont see much of an advantage to it over mid lvl quest armor (Ivy etched, Crafted, etc) in most cases. Can anyone enlighten me?

(Honestly looking for answers, not flames please :)

Hello all,

I've been asking myself the same question, what do you think is the better BP for a 40 ranger ?

A mithril BP (AC17 AGI15 HP30) or the Ry'gorr battle mail ?

it all depends on how you are used in battle. If you're usually a tank (I personally prefer not to have rangers used as tanks in groupings... I've seen clerics tank better), go with the Mithril. If you're used more as a melee and secondary tank, go with the Rygorr.
RE: Ranger armor?
# Jan 27 2003 at 5:30 PM Rating: Default
I totally disagree...while in Paludal Caverns at lvl 20 I tanked better than most Warriors, they hit for more and took more damage, but I was able to snare, nuke, heal, and hit the target hard, so I pretty much fulfilled every position a group would I boosted what we did have. I would love to have the Ry'Gorr mail, but atm I only have Ivy Etched, which works out good too because I have a lot of other +Str items. So I think each Ranger (or whoever) would be different in deciding which mail to get, depending on their equipment. Just my 2 cents...

At lvl 20 an enchanter could tank for a Bandit group in Paludal. Most class-defining roles aren't even outlined until at or after 20.

Better than BP of Ro IMO, 20ac 4 str 10 sv fire...I'd take this over that unless I was going on a Naggy raid or something

Would you really wear a BP of Ro in a naggy raid??? Scary.
rygorr battle mail

the rygorr bm is a great chestplate for the mid lvl tanks looking for strength. though the bm isn't one of the best for bard hefs i have to say it looks the sweetest of the graphics.

How often do Avengers spawn?

Had a blast the other day hunting Ry'Gorrs. Got plenty of assorted armor drops for our group. We took on the cheif three times, and announced he was in combat when we pulled him and also announced when he died. Also watched another group take him out, they also were good about announcing. However, no Avengers/Revengers ever spawned...were we lucky? BTW, our group got a BP 2 out of three tries, so we were quite happy with our hunt that day. Now I'm trying to figure out if I should replace my Ivy Etched with this BP...

Finally met the Avengers! Our group was happily camping Ry'Gorr fort, and had taken out the cheif a couple times. We killed the Ry'Gorr Missionary and the Ry'Gorr Messenger before the next Cheif spawn, and suddenly I got a BAAAAAD feeling....Sure enough, we got Avengers on the next Cheif kill, so be sure to watch for these jokers....Tore through our group like buttah, but at least our cleric survived (ran like crazy for the CC exit) for the rezzes...... The avengers are smart, took out our chanter first, then everybody else protected the cleric as she made her getaway.

I am a level 30 paladin and am about to go do my ro quests. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advise on what a good breastplate would be for this level. (I'm a half elf btw). At the moment I am using a mithril because of the bonus to agility. What would be a good choice for my level? Ro, Mithril, Ry'gorr, or something else? I am looking forward to doing ro quests because this will be my first real challenge in Eq. Thank you in advance for any advise any one can give me.

at 30 I still had the dusty BP that I was using at 18. Still have it on at 34, and probably will till I upgrade to a tree weave or something with 25+ ac. First of all, the AC is great for 200pp- 22. Second, a hybrid's most important stat, imo- stamina. It has 5. Plus, an added advantage of having 20hp. the 20hp isn't much later on in life, but a lot of hp equip combined really helps A LOT. Next time you get out of a hairy situation with 200 hp, thank your two 6ac 65hp rings, your dusty breastplate, and SSB. Though as a half elf, you will be lacking wisdom most likely. The most popular fix for this seems to be to get two runed mithril bracers with 5 wis each. also you could invest in some forrest loops with 3 wis each (plus other stats)

Man was Asaku lucky when he got this trade! He traded his dreadscale(which isn's bad for his level,he was 18 at the time,) for this baby! He loves it!

eh any piece of dreadscale at 18 is good, esspecially if you're not a twink :( im lvl 37 and still using almost a complete dreadscale set lol, id like to up my bp for this though and maybe soon go to planes for greenmist armor.

anyways, just stating that nothing wrong with dreadscale at 18 :) and ry'gorr bp is even better (id def. take the str over sta...dreadscale looks so damn cool though /cry)anways :) lucky kid...

Make sure you dont have two sets of LoadArmor-lines. For some odd reason I had, and I didn't see the second set the first time I edited the file.

from my understanding there is ALWAYS a chance of avenger pop and have heard several times that number is 0-6 for this reason tho i give 1 piece of advice...don't ever bind across from the entrance to fort you can die multiple times in a row to avengers if they don't find another target before you get reloged ! hope to help people with that little tid bit and thanks to all who take the time to do posts

Regarding the "look" of this armour
# Oct 25 2001 at 4:15 AM Rating: Excellent
To answer all of the many questions regarding the look of this armour. First of all, to see it show up properly within in EQ (i.e. not look like banded or some other junk) you need to have the following lines in your EQClient.ini file:

Without those lines in the ini file none of the special velious graphics will look right to you. If you have no idea what an ini file is or how to edit it, i suggest you get the help of a friend who is good with pc's.

Secondly, for those who say it looks different on this race or that race..that IS correct. Every race has a completely different look for the Ry'gorr armours. Dark Elves look absolutely stunning in it! But other races look quite good too.

Hope that answers all those recent questions.

Take care and happy hunting!

Thank you sooooo much for your post, it helped me out alot. At first my Ry'gorr looked like gay banded and my pants looked just like my blackened iron, but now i feel like a big, golden ubber character (even tho im far from it). Just wanna say thanx again for helping me with the file and praise god for people like you. :)

just a quick question
# Oct 08 2001 at 5:29 PM Rating: Default
I'm talking from personal experience camping the chief. On Xev server, we always announce if you pull chief to kill due to the 4 avengers popping soon afterwards and causing all kinds of mischief. Is it the same on other servers??? Ry'gorr bp sells for 800pp on Xev in real time...sometimes as low as 450pp to as high a 1kpp. Just so ya know. If you are gonna pay 1kpp for ry'gorr bp, then you should seriously look at buying a black enamelled bp ac25 for 1kpp or buy a dusty bp ac22 with stats for around 350-600pp. AC is king, but stats rule too...LOL
RE: just a quick question
# Oct 09 2001 at 6:16 AM Rating: Excellent
Its not always anounced on Bertoxx and I have made the experience that the avengers just spawn about every 3rd or 4th kill.

After reading all your posts ive decided that i think you all are a buch af little kids whining about who should wear this, or who this would be better suited for. Why dont you either get off your high horse about "thinking " you all are EQ gods and just play the game like it was designed to be played.........LIKE A GAME!!!! These message boards were (i presume) put herefor players to give helpful info on whatever is being posted. If in fact you cant do this then argue in game with TELLS. i personally didnt come to this board to see who had bigger balls than someone esle, i didnt want to read everyones personal pissing contest i just wanted to see how much this Bp goes for on mith marr and to see if anyone had anything helpful on killing the Chief. Now that i am done i know that all of you immature little babies are going to Flame this post because i hurt your big egos.

Here, here Andrinor, no flame from me, just agreement. If you do not agree with someone do not start a so called "pissing contest" on this board, exchange emails or get each others phone numbers and **** at each other over the phone. Everyone has their own preference as to what they like to wear, some want fashion and some want function. To each their own. Have fun and be happy with what you have and can get. If you want better save you coppers and silvers and buy it. heh Bye for now.

my friend has a WE rouge with a full set of this stuff at level 21 (ok, maybe he's twinked), he's also got a DE illusion mask that he looted after his high level friends destroyed.. whoever drops it. this armor looks MAD PIMP on a dark elf, while it just looks.. sort of dorky on a wood elf. thank god it doesn't have that stupid little tree though.
