i researched venders for my dark elf and found several places say chonchon sells them on the ogre side ..bah how dare them give out false info
the chonchon is not on the ogre side she is at the pub next to the pottery wheel under the pravilion only sells ...clay.

another post i read says that the merchant in 3rd gate who sell adaminite also sells med and hq ore;s this is a very big NO THEY DON"T...only stuff to make tier'dal chain mail there
Ore
# Nov 20 2001 at 2:31 PM Rating: Excellent

Best place to get ore of all sizes and quality, and tons of it, close to commons also...Is SOLA, bring containers, and lots of em, cuz you will have about 8 tons of ore to drag outa that place. SOW and an STR buff will help you a little.

Now if we only knew what SOLA meant.
Reminds me of Western Union charging by the word.

Sad that there is nothing "ornate" about this armor. Seeing as it requires a silver bar, it would be nice if it happend to be gleaming silver in color, with a unique pattern on the tunic. If one could dye it, that would be a big plus, but you can't.

They should have called it "light" chainmail, "hardened" chainmail (in deference to it's +1 over banded,) or even the simple, but accurate "forged" chainmail.

Being at 175 in smithing, and having a ranger whose armor i would like to give an upgrade, I'll likely get my Erudite butt up to Permafrost or over to Runnyeye to collect some ore. probably Perma, so that I can harvest a zillion or so spiderling silks and LQ pelts of various types in Everfrost. Two birds with one stone and all that...

Why, oh why, could they not make HQ ore stackable? Someone please tell me that when they made pelts and metal sheets stackable, they did it at least for small HQ ore as well...
Small patterns

Small Ringmail patterns can be bought in Kelvin Diggs shop in Rivervale (the shop to right of Fools Gold, with the wolf "Mangler")

They're also sold in Neriak 3rd gate on the adamantite vendor, for those of us that arent goody-goodies...

The vendor that sells adamantite also sells 'chainmail patterns', not small or ringmail.
Just mentioning it for clarities sake.
Can this be dyed
# May 05 2001 at 1:41 PM Rating: Decent
I read on a webpage that there is chainmail that can be dyed now, is this that chainmail?

What is the recipe for "Ornate" Chain mail? It isn't shown under the recipes given here at Allakhazams'.

You need a Smithy Hammer also, which is returned whether you succeed or fail.
Lodin -- incorrect price
# Feb 27 2001 at 4:32 AM Rating: Default
20pp is way too low for a tunic. It takes 3 large bricks of HQ ore which sell for around 10pp each to a vendor. Given that, and the cost of the pattern, I'd put the price --at least-- 40pp just to break even (assuming no failures).
RE: Lodin -- incorrect price
# May 23 2001 at 5:46 PM Rating: Default
Actually you have to make the Large Brick of HQ ore from 3 Small ones ( at minimum 11pp if bought form merchant ) so your looking at 100pp+ to just make the Large bricks then have to make 3 sets of rings plus then if you get the 3 sets of rings, you need a pattern ( from 3-9pp ) and a silver bar. Hopefully you didn't fail on any of the brick or rings attempts ( triv at 151 and still can fail -- been there and done that -- didn't need that 35pp anyway I guess ). So now about 115pp ( or more ) later you can attempt your piece ( pray you don't fail now ) and if successful you a piece of chailmail that looks like a piece of banded plus 1 AC more.

example : made a set of Ornate sleeves cost of 70pp for ac 8 sleeves , banded sleeves at ac 7 sell for 5-7pp. Where do I find an idiot to buy a basically 5-8pp set of sleeves for 70pp? Merchant will give 3pp or so for them... how sweet of them 8P

P.S. Hope that they can be dyed or otherwise Verant F'ed big time!

Don't buy HQ Ore from vendors! It's a loot drop in Highkeep and Runnyeye. You can buy HQ Ore from players in HK at 5pp per Small Brick or 15pp for a Large one. Or farm it yourself in Runnyeye.

Buy from players to keep your cost down.

Also, if you want to make OC profitably, only make gorgets and bracelets. Those only require 1 HQ Ring each, and 25pp is not too much to ask for an AC 6 neck item that can be worn by rangers and rogues.

The problem with Ornate Chain is that the production cost is higher than its trade value. 20 pp, might not be far off what you would have to settle for, if you happened to own this piece of armor and wanted to sell it.

But 20 pp will get you absolutly nowhere if you wanted to buy a newly made tunic. Unless you find someone who is making these for skill gains, which is unlikely but not impossible.
RE: Lodin -- incorrect price

Actually, I have attempted this 2 times and succeded once. I got a skill raise on both attempts. To 180 and 181. I have made over 50 pieces of fine plate and gotten 2 skill raises. This seems like an interesting way to increase skill.

Unless the chainmail patterns specify sizes. To date, I have made Ornate chain from the patterns in Qeynos; consequently, it's been all medium. If anyone sees any small/large chainmail patterns, and is willing to try them out with the ornate chainmail recipie...

Small chainmail patterns are available in Kelethin from a merchant in an unmarked building just to your right as you face the regular forge in Kelethin, one ramp up from the newbie lift. Large patterns are available in Halas.

You can buy large chainmail patterns from one of the two ogre vendors near the forge in Neriak Foreign Quarter.
