faction prevents cheating
# Mar 08 2002 at 6:42 AM Rating: Good
after turning in the items to Lhranc and killing him for the final battle, you now loot a token of some kind that you hand to a NPC in CoM who then gives you the weapon. You have to do the entire quest for your faction to be high enough. No cheating ;)

Particle weapon is the name given to an epic because, if you've ever seen one, each gives off a special spell particle effect.

Any part of the quest that does not result in receiving a piece needed for the final turn in is simply to elevate your faction to the point that one of the NPC's will talk to you.
IE Kurron Ni, Cough elixer, Dusty Tome, Seal from Marl To Gerrot.
By doing some parts over and over to raise faction or by doing other quests that yield truespirit faction you can potentially bypass other faction events.
However, Be advised that if you get to the end and something is messed up due to a faction problem your not gonna get any help from verant if they find you didn't do the quest as implemented so questor beware.

hehe its always funny to see the varying responses to damage bonuses.

Until level 50, it is based on the delay of the 2hander.
I dont remember exact numbers, but I believe up to 40 dly is one bracket, 40 to 50 is another, and 51+ is the highest bonus bracket.
Due to recent changes in the post 50 game, at level 50+, it begins to rise even more based on level.
Str also lends a hand for players individual numbers.
attck number and skill just lends to how easy you hit, not really how hard.

Bonus Damage?

Anybody know what the bonus damage on this is?
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 26 2002 at 7:57 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) For everyone below!!!!! -- Damage bonus is based on YOUR SKILL - not your level... (if you have no skill in 2hs, you're bonus will be minimal....)
RE: Bonus Damage?
# Mar 17 2002 at 5:17 PM Rating: Good
that is incorrect, dmg bonus is based on your lvl and the weapons dly a weapon with 50dly will have a larger dmg bonus than one with 40 dly, i know skill has nothing to do with it. Take 2 weps with the same dly(or at least the first digit is the same, a 41 and a 49dly wep have the same bonus) and one uses a skill you have maxed and one is a skill u have never touched. The dmg bonus will be exactly the same for both.

Talking food. If I wanted my meal to speak to me I would ask it a question, such as, "Why are you standing there jabbering? Jump into my stomach!" Of course TheGrandguru would be so frightened of this Troll he would be struck dumb by fear. And then his knees would give out forcing me to then pick him up just so that I could eat him.

Then there is his sig...

Hey ! Ogres and Trolls aren't the only ones who snack on other people. Why, I am Erudite and have been known to go berzek during battles, often ending up in half-eated froglocks or cockatrices. Taste's just like Ma's Fried Kobold Ribs back home in Paineel. And I'm never one to turn down some gnome, cooked or raw.

if you are wondering what it looks like the closest thing i guess is it looks kinda like the 2h war epic, with a skull at the bottem and black handle, this is by far the hardest epic to get in the whole game that why you only see them on people that are parts of uber guilds, this is really a nice wepon and the effect on the wepon is great too

It may be the hardest epic to complete and I am recently #40 on brell to wield it, but our guild is far from "uber". When the time comes to kill Lhranc you would be surprised how many people are willing to help you kill him. I dont ask why, I was just happy we got it done with no less than 2 casualties. Hope this encourages a few of you out there.

Uhuh. The quest givers don't even talk to you until level 51. If you give the Darkforge pieces and 1kpp in before level 51, then you're making little more than a donation to the guy. And judging from his script, I don't think he'd care about it anyways.

As for ninja looting the epic, no, that isn't possible either. Now the epic doesn't drop off of Lhranc, a coin does. Then you turn the coin into somebody (Name escapes me atm) and you get the epic.

And no, I don't have this weapon yet. I'm not even close. I just like drooling at stuff, so thats why I'm here =P. At least I'm an educated drooler!

"I am glad that you somehow figured out a way to circumvent the level requirement to get to Fear. Now if only I could figure out how to do that for MY Ranger Epic so I can kill Innoruuk." - Domnall

Actually, it appears in the quest that the Innoruuk's Curse is actually looted from the corpse of Lhranc. And City of Mist being a non-planar zone, it IS technically possible to get massive numbers of people together and somehow get your sub-50 SK to the zone, and get CoH'd to the corpse after Lhranc has been slain and loot the blade. Now all i have to do is find someone willing to do that for me....
Hey, i said possible, not probable :)

It is lootable, yes, but if he says he had no help, then what he did was Ninja Loot it from someone else, in which case he needs to be pimpslapped. If he did the entire thing on his own, then it is patently impossible because two of the items he needs are no drops from Fear (Soul Leech) and Air (Blade of Abrogation). And he sure as Hades didn't kill Rharzar by himself (I got whaxed in about 30 secs as a level 42 Ranger by that freekin' Drake).

Haste (the final word)
# Jul 17 2001 at 11:27 PM Rating: Good
Folks, only one person so far has even come close to getting haste values correct. You do NOT, as most have stated, simply multiply the haste value by the delay and then subtract. As the only individual with a clue posted, a 100% delay (maximum possible in the game with stacked items and spells) would give a delay of ZERO. That simply isn't the case.

What haste does is increase the number of attacks you get during a delay cycle. Consider Inny's Curse with a damage ratio of 40/45. If you had 100% haste, you would get two attacks during that 45 delay (4.5 seconds for those that don't already know about verant's delays). That would, effectively, cut the delay in half down to 22.5. That's with 100% haste.

A more realistic haste would be something like 30%, obviously. At 30%, you would get 1.3 attacks during the 4.5 second delay. The formula for figuring this out is quite simple:

delay after haste = normal delay/(1+haste percent)

Using this formula, you would get:

delay after haste = 45/(1+0.3) = 34.6154, or about a 35 delay.

By this formula, a 50% haste would give you a delay of 30, and a 60% haste would give you a delay of about 28. And these numbers actually make sense, and they don't go to zero as haste goes to infinity (since there is no such thing as a zero delay weapon). Anyone that has ever had a nice high level chanter or bard haste spell knows that a 60% haste is very fast, but it ain't as fast as the previous formulas mentioned would imply.

Now, regardless of haste valus, Inny's Curse rocks!

If you want to become accepted in Paineel and you don't care about your Erudin faction and are above level 35 (Which you should be, seeing as you're working on your epic), then just cast Gather Shadows and enter Erudin. From there take the teleporter to the main city, and pull the patrolling guards that walk past the entrance to the cave w/ the teleporters. The guards are all level 30 Paladins, excluding the ones outside. They give massive negative hits with Erudin factions and a very good positive hit with the Heretics. I've heard that within a few hours of doing this you can get all the way to and past Indifferent with the Heretics.

But anyways, I've been inside Paineel, and to reach Duriek Bloodpool you don't even pass any guards beyond the lvl 6 Skeleton guards on the outside. And if you're scared of those, then you shouldn't be working on your epic yet. You should be back in the Field of Bone killing scorpions.

As for Neriak faction, well, that could be a problem. As stated above, what seems to be the best way to do this is by turning in four full stacks of wine to The Scribe of Innoruuk in Neriak Third Gate. Getting to the Scribe may be a problem though, seeing as I'd be extremely surprised if there was a way to beehive your way through Neriak Third Gate without finding a single NPC that can't see through invis (Most inhabitants of Neriak Third Gate are casters).

You also might have to have good faction with Neriak Ogres too, seeing as Smaka is an ogre and is in Neriak. There is no real way I can see to raise that faction that is listed. Yes, it does list one quest that raises it, but that involves Chef Dooga, whom no matter what your faction is with Ogguk, is KoS to everyone but Ogres, Trolls and Dark Elves. Or so I've heard, I can't say I've found that out myself.

I have no idea if Smaka is on Neriak Ogre faction though. I checked that faction on this site and only found two NPC's in Neriak that are listed as being on the faction, and that is Spice and Jacker. I think if it was epic-oriented then someone would've posted about it already though, so maybe I'm just being pessimistic about this whole thing. Probably.

Anyways, GL getting your epic. I'm sure as heck looking forward to it =).

Edit: It's Erudin, not Eruding! Doh!

Ok for your information, Iksars do not have a harder time doing this quest than the rest of us.

Kurron Ni, the rogue in the outpost in The Overthere spawns at a remote location and can be easily killed without alerting any guards, or if you did not want to do that you could get a Rune up, trade the items, get him to attack you and swim out to your friends on the other side of the wall. In theory with a SoW an Iksar should be able to do that, even if not necessary.

The Cough Elixir from Smaka, well just have a friend get that if you dont want to work on faction in Neriak. If you do want to be welcome in Neriak get a friend who can cast invisible and travel the the library in the Third Gate and locate the npc in a side room. Take invis off and open a trade window giving him 4 stacks of wine, have your friend cast invis, and trade. That should give you very good faction.

Lastly if for some reason you feel the need to become unkos to the people of Paineel travel to the Warrens, summon a pet and go on a kill frenzy near the entrance. I do not advise going deeper because mobs around the entrance spawn fast and you can kill them with one hit when you are ready to do the epic. Mobs deeper in might run away and they give the same faction with The Heretics for more effort.

As for Teydar in the Qeynos Sewers whom you need for a side quest, I am not sure on how you can or would need to raise faction with him but I am pretty sure there is some sort of newbie quest you can attempt to raise faction with the baddies of Queynos. You will have to do some research of your own there I am afraid.

As far as I know that should cover all the factions you need. Now you just need to kill all the mobs :).

Have fun.

If an Iksar SK doesn't do anything to lower his faction with the Bloodsabres (SKs, necros, and mean ppl of Qeynos) he'd be non-KOS anyway. Same goes for the Freeport guys (faction will still suck, but they won't kill ya anyway).

Ok haste is easy to figure with a calcualter so STOP GEUSSING you make yourselfs look stupid ;-)
Heres how to figure haste, all you need is a pre algebra corse to understand it weapon del x haste(since its in percent move the decimal over to the left 2 spaces) = del of weapon with haste, so in other words 45 x .22 (fbss haste) = 35.1
Well you can figure the CoF haste now
Its a cool looking weapon Ive seen it on an SK in EC on CT not sure if it was Xate though )

Well actually fbss haste (.22) would be subtracted from 1(no haste), this produces a 78percent delay after haste, so to find the delay of this weapon while wearing an fbss multiply .78 * 45= 35.1 delay after haste

45 war
*wonders if u failed ur pre-algebra course, u got the the delay right but formula was off*

Ummm, the delay came out right because both a perfectly good ways to figure it.. If in fact you passed pre-algebra then you would know that there is often more than one approach to a math problem.. Who looks stupid now.

Umm, no they're not. 45 * .22 = 9.9 not 35.1
RE: Haste

then subtract the 9.9 and you have 35.1. There, equation solved. Basically, whether or not you toook pre algebra, this weapon is great and kicks some serious *** with haste.

Well not if we take into consideration that it may proc...so therefore me must take the 35.1 and add in a 10% chance and blah blah blah

Does it really matter?

Haste percentage dont quite work like that. 100%haste would by your theory produce 0 delay. In actuality haste percentage is increase in attack rate. With maximun total haste being 90% i believe the delay of this weapon would be at around 24.

Haste does not modify your delay. It modifies the number of attacks you attempt in a given time.

For instance, a 20 delay weapon equates to a delay of 2.0 seconds inbetween attack attempts. Therefore, you can attempt 30 attacks in one minute.

Having an FBSS, being 21% haste, gives you 30 x 1.21 = 36.3 attacks per minute. If you convert that back into a delay, you come up with 1.6529 seconds, or a delay of 16.529.

However, if you tried to simply decrease the delay, you'd end up with an incorrect answer. Observe: 2.0 seconds - ( 2.0 x 0.21 ) = 1.58 seconds, or a delay of 15.8.

The steps to attain the correct result can be simplied and expressed as:
new_delay = old_delay x ( 1 / ( 1 + haste_expressed_as_a_decimal ) )

An example of the formula:
16.529 = 20 x ( 1 / ( 1 + 0.21 ) )

The sword hes talking about is the GM/Guide only swords that they get after extended service or outstanding conduct. They are not allowed to wear any items found in-game, only GM's if they want to. Review what you say before you bash the newbies.
