Combine a Purification Tablet and either a Water Reed or Moss Root (it may be that anything foraged in a watery zone will do) to get 3 Purified Water flasks.

Brewers can now make purified water with a trivial of 58.
You just need 1 celestial essence + 2 water flask

There are any number of things you can subcombine to make celestial essence.
Most folks these days just buy essence of marr off the pok spell research vendor.

This item is an odd case, because unlike most built-in vendor wares the vendors do not carry an unlimited supply. In fact, each vendor carries only ONE water extractor, and once it's sold, it's gone until the zone or server resets. The vendors do have an unlimited supply of the tablets, however. After once needing to run from Field of Bone to Fungus Grove to find an extractor, I decided to sacrifice a bank slot to it and have kept it there for re-use.

As for how it's used, you combine one purification tablet with any one of several different foraged items to get 3 purified water, which is used for various recipes. (I mostly use it in Celestial Temper for making Leatherfoot Haversacks.) Items that I know work are: water reed, frost crystal, moss root, sop bark, and lichenclover. Except for the lichenclover, none of those foraged items seem to have any other use, so I can usually get them fairly cheaply in the bazaar if I'm too busy to forage them myself.

Edited to add that I think there are at least 7 vendors who carry one extractor apiece: Klok Dytar in Cabilis East, Klok Acet in Field of Bone, and others in Fungus Grove, LOIO, SONH, and Warsliks.

Checked Sanford Ruggen in FG, no luck, but had tablets. Check Klok Acet in FoB and no luck, but also had tablets. Finally Klok Gragin in Warlik's Woods had it and the tablets.

It's odd that the Water Reeds don't have a "this can be used in tradeskills" tag but is still usable (if it is). I haven't tried it yet, but it's not edible and won't sell to merchants so I'm just destroying them.

The purification tablet can also be combined with a frost crystal (foraged in DL and Miragul's, that I know of) to make 3 flasks of purified water. Don't know about the merchant in FG, but Klok Acet seems to only carry one extractor, and when it's gone, it's gone (presumably until the next zone or server reset). I wish the purification tablets weren't lore, though.
Can these still be found?

I have been to both vendors where this item is listed. And have been unsuccessful in finding one on either vendor. They do sell the purification tablets still... Does anyone know where I can find one of these items? Or do I just need to wait for a server reset for one to show up again?

On Klok Gragin, /loc neg1651 neg710, Warslik's Woods. He only had ONE of them, which was odd, since there were fishing poles, bait, and batwings lower in his inventory. So I don't think another player could have sold it to him.

Water purification tablets can also be bought from a merchant in West Freeport. Can't remember her name at the moment BUT - she is female and can be found in the pathway that connects the entry to the newbie area to the North Freeport zone.

On eqatlas map of West Freeport the merchant is just a little north of the figure "1". The map link is: http://www.eqatlas.com/wfreeportmap.html

Hope that helps.

Combinations for "Purified water"
# May 13 2001 at 1:44 PM Rating: Good
Extractors are sold by several of the vendors in the ruins just ourtide the several entrances to Cabilis.

The same vendors and several in the city (the ones selling survival gear) also are selling purification tablets, a LORE item!! Heaven knows why Verant decided it had to be lore and limit the usefulness of the extractor, but it is.

I haven't tried the reed, but last night I combined a purification tablet and a moss root foraged in Swamp of No Hope to obtain 3 "purified" water flasks. They seem to last longer than foraged. Haven't compared to other vendor sold drinks yet. I expect there may be several other foraged items that will work as well.

in the extractor combine 1 purification tablet (yes, it is lore) bought from Klok Gnask (lake of ill omen, /loc 6400 x -6340) with 1 foraged water reed.
The yield is 3 "purified water" flasks.
Purification Tablet
# May 11 2001 at 9:42 AM Rating: Decent
Some of the vendors surrounding the city are now selling "Purification Tablets." This sounds like something that may bear looking into? It's a lore item, my iksar is looking for someone to cast an 'identify' on it to see if anything comes up. Anyone seen the tablets before?
Wrote a letter to Dear Mennix

I saw on the EQ site a place to ask question and they published my letter on their site. I was real excited because I thought I finally got an answer to, "What the heck does the water extractor do and how does one use it?" Well the reply was, "What is a water extractor?" The least to say I was a little disappointed.

Tried two pods of foraged water... it doesn't allow you to combine them. or any foraged foods I've tried...
Sop Bark
# Apr 20 2001 at 5:41 PM Rating: Decent
I vaguely remeber hearing an NPC talk about how you shouldn't go into the Warslik's Woods without a water extractor because it is hard to find water there. I have, in fact, foraged water there, and an item called Sop Bark. I haven't tried combining Sop Bark and a bottle yet, but I do know that two Sop Barks do not combine. Perhaps you squeeze the water out of the bark with a plains pebble.
Has anyone tried ...

Has anyone tried putting in 2 globes of water (the forged kind) ? Maybe it will turn em in to a bottle of water ... just a thought

I know that if you wish to create a water flask, like the ones sold by vendors, from your foraged water, you can do this by combining 4 foraged waters in a brew barrel.

pebble?

IM curious.. I keep seing posts on all the pages about how they "know it uses a plains pebble" but... if no one has ever gotten it to do anything .. how can anyone KNOW it uses a plains pebble?

#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 16 2000 at 4:52 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) well, I bought one of these tonight. was curious what it did. It has 2 slots and a combine button.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 28 2001 at 9:14 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Im not sure but maybe you can put foraged food in it to extract water, like putting roots or vegetables in it.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 03 2001 at 12:13 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I've tried that thinking it might work. but it didn't, atleast not in the quantities I put them in.
#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 06 2000 at 11:10 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I see them for sale, only 1pp and change. Does it have any use. It says it is a 2 spot container. ???
#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 21 2000 at 7:57 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I know it uses a S. Karanas Plains Pebble and I think a Water Root(haven't found this yet).
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 29 2001 at 5:46 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i also tried a water reed but it didn't work, i have also been told the plains pebble is for a fact one of the items, but several people i have talked to said they thought the water reed was one of them also, but in what quantitty i do not know, maybe a stack of 20 reeds?
