dont know if anyone will see this or even care to help lol but im a iksar sk and saw somewhere that there was a quest you could do for dreadscale armor and that you were to see a npc called sarth scarscale to get started, anyway ive been looking for him for about an hr now and would love some info on how to get to the temple of terror so i could find him thanx.....

Innoruuk's Blessings Upon you all....

Hopefully will answer a few of your questions here...Up to you what you do with this information...

For you Iksar SK's -> Grab a 50 necro, tell him all about the Sarnak Hammer Quest then guide him gently to the Ruins at location: pos2500 neg2100 (approx), then, remove his blindfold, point him at the Ruins and say, "Go Kill" Then either sit back and relax or help out :)

Zorash may or may not pop. He may or may not have the boots. Halflings may earn my respect. Pig's may evetually learn to fly. **** happens and yet life in Norrath still goes on.....

I had to fix my faction with Venril Sathir to get my Sarnak Hammer (combat gate to The Overthere) and so I killed at this Ruins (pos2500 neg2100) for a few days collecting beserker war braids to turn into the Guard Captain at The Outpost.
Zorash popped twice. He popped in same place both times - in the middle of the ruin under the westernmost arch. Once he dropped the boots (wt 10ish, Lore, No Drop, No Ac, No stats - identify as Lore Zorash's Boots) (and yes he may pop elsewhere in the zone too) this is just what happened for this Necro....

So, for this example, three days camping the ruins (approx 4 hours a day) and I have Zorash's Boots (which I now have to trash now I know about this quest - and yes, I did check for Iksar and Human SK'd in zone).....

Good luck and may Innoruuk guide your sword (hopefully towards the neck of the nearest Halfling).....

I just recently got the boots from Zorash. I'd say the best way to do this is get a group in OT and camp the large ruins across from the FM zone. You kill the sarnaks there and he'll eventually spawn, although he doesn't always drop the boots. I don't think this is the hardest piece of Dreadscale to get, IMO it's the mask. I've tried and died countless times looking for that damn drixie with no luck. It's my final piece and I will continue the hunt.
Sick Joke

Ok, I like many other Iksar Sk's sought after these for a long...... long time. I camped for Zorash in the Overthere on numerous occasions to no avail. Finally I broke down and went to Iceclad around level 30, leveled up to 35 then camped the Rygor orcs with various groups until I got their greaves. Since that time I have spent many days in the Dreadlands gaining xp and leveling quite nice, now I'm level 42. On a trip back into the Overthere to help out a guild member, I just happen to swing by the Sarnak ruins for old times sake and guess who is there staring at me....... Zorash. I quickly dropped back, engulfed him in Darkness then fear kited him to his death. I wasn't planning on getting the boots but; there they were..... I couldn't believe it so, I looted those bad boys and went back to Cab to claim my prize. I know that they don't have the stats that the Rygor do but; I had to have them for my own personal satisfaction. Having the luck to get them now is some kind of sick joke

#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 24 2002 at 11:37 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) As to whether or not this is fair to other people who have quested the whole set...

I have quested most of the pieces by myself without much help or a guild. I have the BP, gauntlets, boots, 1 bracer and the vambraces. true the BP is the easiest piece to get. the others really are not that difficult if you get a group and have the time. are the quest fair on the task/reward system that is in place? that is a matter of opinon. when one remembers that there were alot of players who fought hard for equipable armor for iksar sk's above banded and got the dreadscale armor created. should the ragefire portion of the cleric epic be taken out because most clerics can't complete it? i got gracnist skull by asking a higher level player who was camping grac for the totem and earing to loot the skull because it was a qust item that i needed. there are some nice players who will let you loot the no-drop items if you ask them nicely.
True there are some players who just have a really high guildmate kill everything to get the quest items, but some of us just have time and determination to get the items that we need. probably the easiest way to get the boots would be to get in a group and camp a sarnak ruin in OT until Zorash spawns and drops the boots. Hope that you get your greaves as i plan too also.

P.S. all iksar quest armor (Dreadscale,Scaled Mystic, Trooper Scale) has one piece that is a pain to get. unfortunately for dread it's the greaves.

Your sentiment is understood. Afterall, if somebody is able to put in the work to get the item, it does seem unfair that a person should come behind and whine that it's too hard.

However...

A. We are not takling about something uber. The stats on the armor are not phenomenal. They are...okay. The items needed for this piece are not difficult to aquire because the mobs that drop them are difficult, but because they are very very very rare. You are not making the possible sacrifice of your life or mates helping you, you are sacrificing time, and time = exp.

B. As an Iksar SK, you know that our choices for actual armor (helm, bp, legs, arms, wrist) are not as easy to aquire as other races. This armor was made to carry us for a long time. The legs are going to be a major source of AC, and to make this piece the most difficult to achieve seems a bit ludicrous.

C. It is NOT easy getting all the other pieces. I have yet to go for the mask, but I know it is going to be a pain. The vambraces were not easy at all. For the pieces that I DO have, I have put in the time and the money with minimal help except for the Vambraces (your death, Taekwanleep, my brother, will always be remembered).

I have put in the time, camping the pieces. I have now killed Grach more times than I can count, have sometimes employed the help of others, sometimes went it alone. I have sacrificed the time trying to do this quest, to no avail. As stated before, I am doing this for an item that is, in no form or fashion, uber. I am doing it to replace my BARBED legplates. Barbed. Drops in Befallen. If someone is greedy and does not just GIVE it to you, it sells for apx 25 pp...probably less.

I would LIKE to be able to ask someone to "just do it" for me. But I can't bring myself to get a group together to hunt a piece that, in all liklihood, is not going to drop. I have done it before. I will, most likely, do it again. So a person with more time on his hands, and a larger circle of friends, is able to dedicate his or her time to this quest beyond what I was able to. Fine, kudos to you. But facts are facts are facts. Provide us with armor that does us justice. If you are going to make armor that is that difficult to quest, than provide alternatives.

A: IF YOU ARE STILL GAINING EXP FROM ANY OF THE QUEST MOBS THAN IT IS NOT A WASTE OF TIME.

B. AS FOR IKSAR SK'S NOT HAVEING THE BEST ARMOR COMPARED TO OTHER RACES...IT IS A HIGHER DIFFICULTY COMBO AND MOST OF US KNOW ABOUT IT BEFORE STARTING. WE ACCEPTED THE RESTRICTIONS AND TRY TO OVERCOME THEM.

C. I HAD HELP WITH THE VAMBRACES (A FRIEND LOOTED THE GOLRA SKIN, I PAID FOR THE GEMS AND BANDED)
THE BRACERS I ASKED PEOPLE WHO WERE HUNTING THE BLOODGILLS IF I COULD LOOT THE SCALES (WHICH WERE ROTTING ON THE SHORE). AS FOR THE SKULL, I WENT BY THE FORT AND A HIGH LEVEL MAGE WAS CAMPING GRACH, I ASKED FOR THE SKULL IS IT DROPPED, 4 HRS LATER I GOT THE SKULL. DO I FEEL BAD ASKING PLAYERS WHO ARE CAMPING A MOB TO LOOT A QUEST ITEM THEY ARE GOING TO LET ROT? NO. I DON'T WANT ANYONE TO COMPLETE THE QUESTS FOR ME EITHER. SOMETIMES YOU GET LUCKY AND GET THE RARE DROPS, SOMETIMES YOU DON'T. THERE ARE RARE AND RANDOM. IT MAY NOT BE VERY FAIR, BUT NEITHER IS BEING KOS ON ALL OF NORRATH (EXCEPT THURGADIN AND CABILIS) BUT WE STILL SURVIVE.

D. THERE ARE A FEW PIECES FOR THE VARIOUS PIECES THAT ARE NOT VERY DIFFICULT TO GET. I DID NOT SPECIFY THE PIECES PREVIOUSLY AND MIGHT HAVE BEEN MISUNDERSTOOD.
1. SCORPIAN CHITEN
2. SARNAK WARBRAID
3. SKELLY FEET
4. SKELLY HAND
5. BERSERKER HEAD
6. CACTUS QUILLS

THERE ARE SOME ALTERNATIVES TO BARBED LEGGINGS THAT MIGHT HELP YOU OUT:
1. CABILIS SCALES LEGGINGS
2. ENCHANTED CABILIS SCALE LEGGINGS
3. RY'GORR CHAIN LEGGINGS

If you don't like the quest don't do it. there are alot of EQ quests that really don't make that much sense. If you didn't do it prior to starting this quest research the quest task/reward/mob info before starting the quest. You don't think the quest is fair...neither do most players for almost any quest.

You may not agree with the quests task/reward, and that is your opinion. Some of us enjoy the questing and think that it adds to the game, no matter how much of a pain the items are to get. At my level getting the boots, sarnak sword, and the wings is going to be much harder than at level 43. Sometimes you need to ask for help even if you don't like too. Good Luck brother iksar.

Yes it is a lot of work to get the greaves. Yes there could be better armor that is easier to get than Dreadscale. But one has to remember that before the velious and luclin expansions this was one of the best types of armor for Iksar Shadow Knights without traveling to the planes. The stats on the greaves may not seem very UBER but look at the other pieces that are very easy to get, but have better stat increases. It is a balance not only in the armor pieces but in the quests. some are easy and some are difficult, but to change anything about the quests or the armor would honestly be unfair to all the players who have gotten a full set of dreadscale.

Yes he is

You can find him in the OT zone at the small tower or in the ruins near the Scopions. Good luck, he is a rare spawn and the boots are rare too.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 24 2001 at 10:33 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Zorash isn't part of this quest.. just kill Grachnist the Destroyer in Warsilk Woods and loot his skull.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 19 2001 at 5:50 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You really are stupid arent you. You HAVE to kill zorash because the npc who gives out the quest said you need the boots he drops.
