Dropped for me along with a duplicate set of Donal's trousers (VS never has the ones I want) - and a chain link effect as Jadewoman pointed out.
Sadly wasted on my wizard (live server), but very nice stats if you could get a newbie caster here to pick them up

*edit* - just thought.. kinda odd that Venril Sathir = Iksar, yet "his" gauntlet is named after the bloody snakes that didn't even exist in game when Kunark was released :)

hrm. in the game lore, weren't the shissar mentioned as the iksar's masters before luclin was released?
Dropped on Tarew Marr on 18th August 2004, along with Gnarled staff thing for wizards, and the druid greaves. Rotted, which sucked, as we couldnt get the 39 wizard into zone fast enough.

I had used the eye to check out VS before we pulled because I had never seen him before. I noticed he had some type of chain link covering his right hand and was just wondering if the model changed if he was wearing the gloves or not?

Just snagged the human skeleton, when I noticed a bunch of 65'ers in the zone. I asked and they said I could join up on VS with them. Well, the gloves ended up dropping and to my great surprise no one wanted them. My one treasure piece as far as gear goes. 3/15/04

These dropped for me. Was about 3 weeks ago we killed VS. Of course I too wanted my epic staff, lost roll on it ><. And won roll for gaunts. Nice item though.

Dropped for me 12/7/02 on the Bristlebane server. Nice gaunts but I wanted my gnarled staff you fiend! Anywho lost the roll on em but they went to our invaluable enchanter Yenari. Grats sir!

I've done VS 5 times in the last few weeks and not seen them once. God I love Server Patches but geez they could be more common!

I attended a guild VS raid on 8-7-01 (well, by the time he died it was 8-8...) and the gloves dropped.
This was on the Rathe server, and it's the second pair I know to have dropped there. The first pair moved to Zebuxoruk with a KEG member AFAIK.
There's no "Transmute" effect mentioned on them, and I have no intention of experimenting to see if they change into something else...I like them just the way they are.

These gloves have never dropped on Vallon Zek, and VS is normally killed as soon as he pops.

Nope, sorry. The necro epic is well documented and does not require any VS drops. Hell, we don't even have to venture into Karnor's at all. I look forward to when I can start my quest... I already have one item for it in my bank.

Does anyone have a clue who drops this? These gauntlets on a wizard along with our epic weapon would make it possible for wizards to melee somewhat effectively if it became a OOM emergency situation.
I am sorry but a wizard will never be able to effectivly melee. I recently picked up a Tolapumj's robe and I thought "Heck! I'll be the necro meleer!" so I got a velium brawl stick and capped my offense and 2HB. Weapon skills, for a pure caster, cap at 110. Offense, for a pure caster, caps at 140. I only have about 90 str so unbuffed I had slightly over 500 atk. Fully buffed I had a bit over 600 atk once. I still miss the storm giants in Kael over half the time. Once in a while I stick in a nice shot for arround 80. If I am lucky, I can sometimes do up to 400 melee damage to a giant before it falls. This will never replace just sitting down and medding, though. Remember, while you're meleeing, you are only getting mana from your clarity or clarity2, if you happen to have a chanter with ya. Meleeing as a pure caster is damn fun and I really enjoy it but if your group is in a tight spot and you have to be as effective as you can be, sit your *** down and med unless you're level 30 and then you wouldn't exactly have any good ratio weapons to be effective with, anyways.
Meleeing as a pure caster is still extremely fun when you have overkill and nothing better to do. If you're expecting it to help save your group, though, you need to look closer at what class you're playing.

I have check several pages and found this item, listed with an effect of transmute, as a drop from Karnor's Castle off none other than Venril Sathir himself. None of the other sites listed Old Seb.
Having said that, this item is slightly diferent - lacks the transmute effect. It could be this downgraded version is available from a seb mob.
Sorry I couldnt find more specific info.

They are dropped off VS in KC. The pictures are different because the effect was bugged, my gaunts had the effect, transmute hammer, but i never clicked em because they then turned into a cleric hammer and then back into the cleric gloves, but never back into the orig gaunts.
I got them a long time ago, and have never heard of them dropping again. They may have been taken outta the loot table considering they are better than the majority of robes an int caster can find out there anyway.
