Outta curiousity, how much melee damage is anyone getting with this?

I don't have an epic, but I do have a tarnished driveshaft which is 23dmg/30dly and with greater wolf form and fire fists I can hit for over 80. My skill in 2hb is around 175. This is really nice when fear kiting.

I had some interresting spawns during barracuda camp. First off, I went to location neg 900, neg 900 and camped the PH. The tainted spawned, I was able to kill (kite) it. When it died no corrupted spawned. I checked track and it wasn't on track either. Eight minutes later another tainted spawned. I had a little more trouble with this one, but was able to get it under control and kill it; Again, no corrupted. I checked track and there was another tainted on track, but on the other side of the underwater "castle". This one I had a lot of trouble with and during the "kite" we ended up on land - YES, it followed me out of the water. When this one died the corrupted spawned. I killed it got my water. I am wondering, for others because I have mine now, if you have to pull the tainted out of the water to get the corrupted to spawn. Anyway, just food for thought. Now on to the gorilla in EJ.

The tainted that spawns the corrupted is of a higher level. It was the only one that was DB to me after an interminable series of LBs (I estimate I spent 20 RL hours over a period of several weeks trying to get the corrupted). There is no rhyme nor reason I can figure out in the spawn.

If you have an EB item you don't need to kill it out of the water. Just sit at the spawn point and kill a cuda every 6 minutes.

The tainted that will follow you on land IS the one that will spawn the corrupted. You can still kill it under water and get the corrupted to spawn.
RE: barracuda
# Oct 01 2002 at 3:26 PM Rating: Excellent
i think it states pretty clearly that only the tainted that goes out of water will spawn the corrupted. it's not a matter of pulling the tainted out of the water, it's a matter of getting the one that will.

Just because you killed it underwater and the corrupted spawned doesn't mean anything. I bet if you had pulled the Barracuda onto land it would've followed you, you merely didn't try.

Snare Effect Removed

Hello all - the snare effect has been removed from the epic :) This change is now live on all servers.

HUGE benefits: Luclin mobs that are immune to changes in their run speed? CAN EPIC NOW. DoT is far harder to resist without snare effect. As it used to be, it all landed, or nothing landed at all. Keep snare memmed, and use it... nice change, and drastically changes some high level encounters and grouping to our benefit.

Epic is now a 600hp/minute dot. Stack it: Winged Death, ESV's etc... 2200hp/min damage :)

*Note: Fire DoT series adds damage, but is way to mana expensive in my experience. Be efficient, control the fight with epic and ESV's - winged death will be only mana spent. (You'll end the 15 minute fight with 80m with KEI)- and go pull another :)

Has anyone done this epic in tandem with a ranger? Seems like it would be fun since they are almost the same.

Wow, to have a druid get killed by a substantially lower level anything is proof eough that that particualr druid did not know what he was doing. There is an erray of spells that could have been used right off the bat. assuming you have around 2500 hp to start off with, root snare dot, dd 4 times for over 600 pts gives you a dead SK. no excuses.

Thats the biggest crock ive ever heard.. The fight would go like this...
SK is rooted..
Sk is epic dotted..
SK gets winged death..
SK gets drifting death..
1650+1287+650=3587
Druid moves out of range..
Druid sits down..
Druid still sitting..
Druid laughing at SK..
Druid moves back into range after Dots are gone and nukes..
=DEAD SK
I know.. ive done this..
Remember.. there are no rules to fighting.. only victory and defeat..
If the SK touches the druid then the druid doesnt know how to play and is a disgrace to our class... Ive dueled warriors and SK and they all go down with no problem.. and usually with about 70%mana left to spare..

I am curious as to whether or not you've ever actually tried to root or snare another player. It is irritatingly common to have your roots and snares resisted 9 out of 10 times. I'd be interested to see a root stick on any player around level 65 long enough for you to lay on 3 long-casting-time dots. Chances are you'd be snared and dotted and trying to channel spells through the SK's annoying pet attacks.

Can a druid kill an SK? Sure, but it's not like kiting a mob.

The reason you find so many druids is that they are the most versitile class in the game, if you can find a different class that can solo to level 60, or be the group DDer, Healer, Buffer, or Succorer, then I would like to see it!

Druids are extremely fun to play because they have the most options to what they can do. I have played my druid for about 3 years now, and have loved every minute of it. The Druid, I will agree has become the most popular class around. I believe this to be true because of their awe-inspiring Power Leveling abilities.

What you are forgetting about the druid is that their gear is almost all the time expensive and most druids have problems with money till they reach higher levels and even then its hard because they have to make up for the time they spend quad kiting and getting jack for loot but some really nice experience.

this isnt a rant board, it's an information board. specifically, this page is for information about the druid epic weapon, tips and advice for those out there trying to aquire theirs. that being said, i'm guessing the reason there are a lot of druids is that people find them FUN to play, which is after all the point of a game. as for you, /boggle, maybe you need attention, or perhaps you are 12...

on test, the snare on our epic effect has been removed, if this goes live it will be great.. no more 3 min snares.. you'll be able to use your nice 10 and a half minute ensnare with the quick recast time... our epic will get resisted less too.. the snare on it made it bounce off a lot.. but if they follow through it will be a solid dot and have a better chance of landing

Just wanted to say that I personally saw a 59 epic druid KS a 5 man group, including a 59 epic monk, 52 necro, another druid, cleric, and pally.

Not just once, but 4 out of the 5 pulls.. we were all amazed. I dont know exactly what he was doing but that monk was a damage machine, it was really hard to believe he did more damage, but i saw it with my own eyes. He said he was just stacking dots and nuking.

Granted, he was pulling so did some damage before they got to the mob, but still, an epic druid stacking dots and nuking can put out some serious serious DPS.

# Aug 04 2002 at 1:23 PM Rating: Excellent
yup.

The dot that comes with the druid epic stacks with the other dots in a druid's ******** and +50 dots stack with pre-50 dots, so basically you can stack about 4 dots (that i can think of at the moment) on one target.

Winged Death = DoT for 1287 Hit Points (HP) in 9 ticks
Breath of Ro = DoT for 920 Hit Points (HP) in 10 ticks
Drifting Death = DoT for 650 Hit Points (HP) in 10 ticks
Wrath of Nature = DoT for 1650 Hit Points (HP) in 30 ticks

For those that think druids are not useful on raids are simply full of it.

Between doing PU for my guild and being one of the people responsible for snare, druids are hella needed at most raids. Next time you do Lord Bob, Velks, or Trak, don't invite a druid and then you will realize how hard it is getting everyone there in a reasonable time period, and getting them out.

Pls stfu if you don't know anything about druids..thanks!

Lots of classes can snare

Wizards can port

Sounds like you havent a clue about druids if you think this is why you think they are good on raids.

A player who knows what a druid can do, is a valuable asset to a raid. They can nuke, second only to the wizard, and a druid can outnuke a wizard without getting aggro. They can heal secondary tanks and anyone else who gets aggro when they shouldn't. If a mage isnt present they can damage shield, they can help out shaman by using some of thier buffs to help save the shaman mana. And depending on the zone, they can kite adds if needed. Of course not many raids are in places where this is possible. They can do crowd control in a pinch. Debuff mobs.

If you think ports and snares are the limit of a druids raid contribution then you are one sorry excuse for a druid.

DE Corruptor
# May 07 2002 at 7:26 AM Rating: Excellent
This is very easy, did it with only 3 people, 60 druid, 2 rangers. Was doing for ranger. Ranger turns in items while other ranger and druid sit at spawn site. Corruptor and Reavers spawn. Snare and root both reavers along with the corruptor. Kill the corruptor, re-root reavers as required. You can kill the corruptors or just leave them. Worked like a charm.

Hail fellows!

A word of caution and advice - the DoT/Snare effect is a fantastic kiting tool, but keep snare memmed no matter what. The timer on the Wrath of Nature is 3 minutes, and it will usually fail at the LEAST opportune time. When pulling, snare mob, THEN Epic it.... epic overwrites, recast in about 2 mins (or 2 ES Vamb casts) to keep effect on. 8 seconds to Epic snare is impossible with mob at full speed, so toss a quick ensnare on the bad guy if if drops, rinse and repeat.

#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 17 2002 at 9:28 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I have spent several months reading the posts on here and attempting to obtain some what valuable information regarding Equipment, beastiary, quests, and classes. To this day I have found little information in the "Posts" which are of any value. What I have learned in the meantime is that few if anyone is able to actually enjoy a GAME without bickering, belitting, and criticism of others choices. It seems if everyone isn't a duck following the same line, walking, talking, looking, acting, and thinking the same then they are the odd man out and deserve hen pecking until they either bow to the wishes of every other duck or die (leave the game). I have heard all this talk about this class is better than that, this race is better then that one, a "Mixed breed" is nothing compaired to a "Purebreed". Well I have to say that is all this has become nothing more then a load of bunk. No Class is BETTER then the next, yes they may be the best in what that "CLASS" does, but give a wizard a tanking role and they would not survive. Why? they are not created (by EQ) to be a tank. Give a Warrior the job of keeping the group healed, buffed and to gate them to and from the spot , they would fail. Why?? They are not made to do that, it's not their role (which again EQ created). So if EQ created the "Purebreeds" to be GOOD at what they do ,within the confines of their abilities. And created the "Mixed Breed" to be good at what they do, in the confines of their abilities. Then each and all are being the best they can be, do the best they can do, and each plays a vital part in the whole. Would anyone REALLY be happy if you were given Three classes you could chose from? Warrior, Cleric, Wizard? Nope you would complain to EQ that they need more Variety. Yet when it is given, there becomes a wonderful child playground squabble of "My ball is better then yours". I would have thought by now we would have put the childish games of clic's, differences in people (characters in this case in a GAME, and racism (well it's probably not the best term to use but it is the best I can find that fits the attitude of the various "Pedigrees" verses the "Mongels") behind us and actually be able to accept and enjoy just playing and relaxing in a GAME! Oh well...guess I will just keep playing with the "Pedigrees" and the "Mongrels" because well, personally I just enjoy the opportunity to do something FUN and to be able to share that enjoyment with others no matter what their character is. And before you say it I have played , still play "purebreeds" and "Mongrels" and it seems each has a place and a need in the wonderful circle of life in EQ.

Recently acquired mine, YAY me.
I love the snare and DoT it has. I notice the HP of mobs do drop quicker when rooted. And, I amazed myself when I decided to melee the mob when he was near death and on the run. I hit him for 70 points of damage.
Was rather cool to see me hit harder than 33 with my Runed Falchion, but to see hits in the 50's, 60's, and then an even 70, blew my mind. Made my partner laugh when I said I was a Battledruid. He is a Paladin, and he says he will let me do all the work now. hehe.
Natures Wrath
# Feb 01 2002 at 1:36 AM Rating: Good
The effect is a triggered snare/dot.
It takes almost 8 seconds to cast and will last for 3 minutes. The snare component of the effect is about a 65% speed reduction snare. The DOT component of the effect does 590 damage a minute to a stationary or feared target, for a total damage at the end of the 3 minute effect of 1770 damage if the target nevers moves or remains feared. The effect has a higher chance of resistance than any of our other snare spells but it will usually stick to most mobs on the first try. The necromancer epic effect will overwrite our effect and ours will not overwrite theirs. The necro effect does 1200 damage a minute and the effect last 1 minute so a necro can dish out 3600 mana free damage with their epic in the time that our will do 1770. The vast majority of necromancers express contempt for their epic's effect though which, when I compare their epic efect to ours, seems very odd.
RE: Natures Wrath
# Feb 08 2002 at 4:21 AM Rating: Default
Personally, the effect on the necro epic is very, very nice.

Any necro that is upset with the effect most likely does not have the epic, because once you have one, you will love the effect. Mana free damage is nothing to scoff at, especially when it does this much damage.

Ducky has served me well since I obtained it, and I'm sure your leafblowers will do the same. ;)

First off I have a level 45 druid that I haven't taken on any raids yet (CoM and Traks teeth don't count). So I'm not even gonna talk about the 50+ game with a druid. Granted we're jack of all trades master of none, and granted there are specialist classes that can do one or two of the things we do better (cleric heals, shammy buffs, etc) But what people are skipping over is what the jack of all trades means. To me it means that if a certain fight is going to hell a druid is one of the top classes that can save the day. It's not rare during an overpull to see a druid (a well played druid mind you, there are SO many who are clueless)standing in the middle of the fray casting rapid fire heals, nukes, roots until he's oom then running in to melee what's left. Yes, melee..even at 45. I've always believed that every lil bit helps.

Basically my point is that druids may not heal like clerics, buff like shammies or nuke like wizzies. But when it comes right down to it we can do it all...and sometimes that's what makes the difference.

Gnarly

Oh yeah. on top of all that we can get yer butt outa dodge too ;p

I agree with everything that you said. I have a 51 druid and I do find it hard to find a good group that wants to go on raids with me included.
But then, people with a clue invite me into the group and they know exactly what a druids role is and allow me to play as needed. The morons that don't understand why a druid is a good addition to any group are the same people that think enchanters are ok to have in a group but would rather have just one more tank :)

Very well put!!!
Sometimes I hate playing a druid, because I don't have a prime roll, but this post makes me feel great about what I can do. I am sometimes thanked for the role that I play in a group/raid. I try to be selfless, but I just want to be one of the heroes so badly (I rarely am!). I nuke when I need to, I heal when I need to, if there isn't a ranger, I will snare and sometimes root. All this requires that I stay on my toes, I need to watch a lot of aspects of play and read a lot of emotes. Sometimes that is all that I do (making sure that I have enough mana for backup heals or evacs). It makes me feel important when I am the last line of defense that puts a group over the edge to get the job done.
Thank you, very much, Gnarly! Your post has given me inspiration!!!

There are times when druids most certainly are the heroes. Well played druids anyway.

Often the usual way they end up heroes in groups I've been in is they're the ones to evac us out when it ALL starts to fall apart. The puller pulls too much or we get a big pop at the same time the puller is coming in with a big pull. We know we are all dead with a horrible CR ahead if we don't get out fast, and the next thing I know I see LOADING PLEASE WAIT followed by a nice quiet druid grove somewhere. Happened many times. Quite dramatic when you think about it.

Of course they're also in there buffing, healing, invising, SoWing, etc. all along. Druids are very useful when played well.

By the way, I'm not a druid. I was just here because I want to help a close druid friend with her epic. Hmmm. Faydadar and Venril Sathir. Should be interesting.

Also, how fast can we get things like Faydadar and VS to spawn? I'm thinking it might be nice to run a whole bunch of druids through at once if that's possible.

You need to kill VSR (Venril Sathir's remains) not VS. VS is a 3 day spawn I believe. VSR will spawn within 24 hours of VS going down and he will drop 2 stones. BTW they are used for both druid and ranger epics.

Second, Faydadar can be triggered by handing in the froglok essence to the naked dwarf. He will return it so if you fail you can try in 5 hours.

You can Kill either VS or VSR both drop the Stone needed for the Druid/Ranger Epics. With VS you get the Chance of Legs too :)
A question

Ok have a question for u druids. When was the last time you heard a shout "raid needs more druids, send tells!" or had a raid stopped cause there was not enough druids present(and no im not counting when druids are needed for tracking on little quests). tanks? yes. chanters? of course. clerics? all the time. but druids? i dont know. the only time i can think of that happening is when its a small raid and they are not sure about winning and want to ensure they have evacers in every group. druids are useful on raids, they nuke, heal, buff. but come on.

Oldtimer.....I didnt say that if u dont have a druid on a raid that it "stops" the raid. I dont know where you picked that up from. What I was saying is that why turn a Druid down? I understand that if the raid is reaching too large of a number other things come into play like lag and you have to turn every class away at that point. But, if there are open spots on a raid and you have 2 druids asking to join and no other classes, why would you turn down those 2 druids? You just lost 2 people that would heal your clerics if they get attacked, OR do what I do so much and heal the Enchanters cuz half the clerics seem to forget about them when they are healing all the tanks and the Chanter pulls aggro from a mob. I dont know how many times Chanters have sent me tells thanking me for saving there *** cuz a cleric never can heal them in time cuz the cleric was worried about the tanks and wasnt paying attention to the Chanters HP's. Oh well...people run raids the way they like and not much you can do about it. The question that nobody seems to answer is do some of you druids out there ever get turned down by your own guild on a raid? Or when you say that "druids get turned down a lot at raids" are you talking about pick-up raids?

Actually what probably happens with the enchanters is: the cleric just cast Complete heal on the tank (which takes forever to cast), then the enchanter got aggroed, and as we all know enchanters have so little ac and hit points that they can go from full hp to dead in less time than it takes CH to cast, and the spell bubbles to repop. This of course, is one of the nice things about having a druid in the group, they can pop a fast greater healing on a caster while the cleric waits for their heal to finish.

The only other choice the cleric has is to duck to interrupt the spell, and then cast on the chanter, and by the time he began to cast CH, the tank was probably down to two bubbles, so will end up dying if he does.

Ever hear of Karnors Castle? It is the most druid friendly dungeon since it is outdoor, meaning all of our spells will work there.

Sure it might be the only real feasible dungeon for our class to raid but you know what, druids can do a little bit of everything, just because we are limited to being outdoors to use our full potential doesn't mean you are any better then the next guy.

About Druids....

To all you people who say Druids are never wanted on raids...I just have 1 question for you. WHAT kind of guild are you guys in. Or are you always talkin in general about pick-up raids? I dont think I would want to know a guild that will turn away anyone from going on a raid. Why turn the druids away? Even if you already have a couple druids on your raid, why turn others away. You are only turning away more nuking..spot healing and buffing abilities. Granted we may not have the best in those abilities, but why turn away the extra damage output? That has always /boggled my mind. I'm just glad I'm in a guild that doesn't turn Druids away from raids, or that I have ever had to go on "pick-up" raid where the leader has said "I R UBER and I say only X amount of dr00ds can come and I dont care that they arent Wizzy or Mages, but they still could save somebodys *** with a spot heal, or help out with nuking. Cuz we all know, extra damage is NOT good in this game...so...no mo dr00ds on muh uber raid." I just dont understand that. And if you wanna start flaming me now, just know I rarely come back and read this stuff and as you can see, I dont post much either. I understand we arent the best at one certain thing. But why turn somebody away that can do damage or maybe save a melee's *** cuz a CH from a cleric isnt going to hit in time. And I know that the Druid is only as good as the person behind the keyboard. But like somebody else said, if we are played right we can be a pretty beneficial class just like any other in the game. In the end...play what you like..and if you are good at what you do then grouping and raiding are not a problem. I'm glad I have a druid for my first character and have leveled him to 55. Do I regret starting a Druid, not at all. Do I have other classes I like playing more? No I dont, but playing a melee twink is nice to do when I get tired of chucking spells all day long. Just my 2cp's
And to keep this on topic....I like the Druid epic and i cannot wait to get mine finished and get this bad boy : )

Ok, I play a SK and a ranger, and find that druids are only as good as the person sitting at the keyboard, some can be stellar and a benefit to the group, others get people killed. Everyone has their roll in a raid or group, period.
