Quest Still Works!
# Jul 28 2020 at 10:55 AM Rating: Decent
2 posts
I'm playing on Vox. Did the quest bit by bit over the last week. It still works! Took a long time to get Entalon/Gylton to spawn, and after clearing many mobs in the area, and waiting for probably 4-5 hours, each of them spawned. Gylton dropped the dragon scale. Same story for Gullerback/ Azdalin.

Some of the dialogue is missing for Lord Lyfyx of Burwood but the turn in for the 3rd dragon scale still works.

For the turn in to Tektite, on my wood elf bard, level 65, I managed to invis with the travel song to run behind him, then used sneak to con indifference. Turn in was a piece of cake. Make sure you give him the Carnelians single stacked, and in the same trade window at the same time, or you won't get the Tektite.

For the turn in of the 3 dragon scales, I hailed the barbarian lady in the FV allied settlement which supposedly spawned Sir Hobble. I say supposedly because I did it 6 or 7 times over the course of 3 days and I'm now convinced that its just a matter of commitment to waiting for a solid 4 hours before you'll see him spawn. For me, Hobble spawned WITH the squire, and GOOD NEWS is that he and Squire Fuzzmin no longer run through the zone. They walk the entire time AND they also no longer attack any creatures that they cross. It's as if they are invisible the entire time. This makes the turn in WAY easier...

I can confirm that Hobble and the Squire spawned near the LOC listed previously on this thread, just southwest of the tunnel entrance to the FV allied settlement. They march in a pattern, and if you set yourself up to track them in the middle of the zone, near the two white pillars (one cracked in half) you should have no trouble finding him on track when he spawns. I followed them for almost 2 hours just to see where they pathed, and the result was what looked like a sunburst or half-wagon-wheel spoked loop cycle, with the center being at the tunnel entrance to The Dreadlands.... Throughout their walking loop, they travel out to a handful of locations in the zone, then head straight back to the DL tunnel entrance, proceed a small distance down one of the branches of tunnel, then go back out and repeat.

For those who want specifics, the LOCs for the end of those wheel-spoke paths are as follows:

484.09, 5058.21, -55.96
380.08, 1498.67, 28.45
114, 1315.79, 26.16
1374.80, -171.83, 122.39
1066.38, 24.09, -125.97

The center of the wheel is at the DL cave entrance by the iksar statues.

Well, I'd flame the butchering of the English language before I flame the actual post.
You may want to look into some punctuation and some grammar skills. Its hard to understand a post with NO punctuation in it. And I know you're not a small child, because no small children would be posting in an EQ forum. Which leads me to believe you're just lazy.

Now, regarding the post, I'm not sure what a 51 warrior is doing with a shield. I know you haven't invested any AA's into shield block or any of the other defensive and mitigation AAs.

You're going to kill mobs way faster without your shield. The stat and AC bonus a 51 warrior gets from a shield (unless you've got some hardcore guild to get you a sweet shield) is so small compared to the DPS of a 2H weapon or DPS of dual wield. Thats why you only ever see end-game warriors with a shield.

Get rid of that knight's garbage. You've got the HPs to survive.

I know and I don't use a shield. I am always duel wielding and will probably never stop. I just know that for paladins and shadow knights that 2HS= DPS. So why not use this in the mid thirties till upper forties with a good shield you will be getting good DPS and good stats and i was just saying my opinion Smiley: smile

wurmy should be changed from " rare " to " ultra rare " on account squire fuzzmin no longer spawns.

# May 27 2010 at 5:39 PM Rating: Decent
In short: I can confirm this quest is fully functional.
Total time: roughly 2 hours

Details:
As of today it is not broken. I sat outside the PoK tunnel and waited for Sir Hobble to appear on track. Then I ran around with him for awhile, killed stuff for him, kept hailing him, and after a little while Squire Fuzzmin showed up. I was able to give him all three scales while he was walking around Sir Hobble.

I read a few responses on here and as a result I tried to hail that Lenka NPC but when I ran around trying to track him he never showed. That is when I started camping the PoK zone area with all the spiders. I also skipped a step and just killed Lord Lyfyx of Burwood. The two dragons were up when I entered the zone to kill them. So all in all I was very lucky it seems.

Wurmy Facts
# Sep 08 2004 at 8:20 PM Rating: Decent
While it is true that the wurmy isn't considerd an Uber weapon anymore it is still one of the best weapons between lvl 20 and lvl 45.
One of the knocks on this weapon is that it is too slow to hold agro. In the old days My barbarian warrior used it and held agro vs the faster Lamitations etc, until he upgraded about lvl 50.
The truth is dps is the major factor in determining agro. And the truth is the Wurmy still has one of the best dps pre lvl 45. Sure there are weapons with better dps, but very few that don't have a lvl restirction on them.

Recently I made an oger warrior on a server on which I had a wurmy in the bank, when he ding 20 I gave him the wurmy and sent him out into the world to see how he did. (He also had a fbss 21% haste)
I group him as much as possible and the groups and adv he gets often have other melee classes in them.
The only weapon that I've seen so far that can compair with the wurmy for agro is the 14/22 BAB.
I've always used the formula 2*Damage/delay to compair the damage potenctel of diffrent weapons.
Using this equation the wrumy comes out at 1.25 and the BAB scores a 1.27. Or slightly better.
In the end if the BAB owner has a haste item we will traid agro if not my oger will hold agro.
Now I realize that as the main hand damage bonus comes into paly (lvl 28 as i recall) the advantage of the BAB will be increassed and the other common lower lvl weapons will start to close the gap on the wurmy. However the Wurmy will hold up vs most of them till the mid 40's.
In the end the main reason my Ogre uses a wurmy is I believe that an ogre should do huge amounts of damage per hit. That is also why he uses a centi warhammer 15/32 in his off hand.
I also enjoy the novilty of it.
The fact that it out agros a number of the fast weapons and has the speed is everything crowed shaking their heads is just an added bonus.
#REDACTED, Posted: May 03 2004 at 2:41 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ok every one is seeming to forget haste items and spells effect more that just the speed of the weapon.....it effectivly also lowers a bit the max dam of the weapon

No it doesn't. The same character, hitting with this weapon, with no haste on, will have the exact same max hit, as a character with a haste item, and a haste spell on, unless its a higher level haste, since those add melee stats as well, and would actually INCREASE the damage per hit.

So, if you hit for 100 max with this unhasted, you'd hit for 100 max hasted, just more often.
The weapon sucks!
# Feb 07 2004 at 5:55 AM Rating: Excellent
I used to use this weapon for my Ranger but then I hit lv50... It is a good weapon at lower levels since mobs have laughable HP. This weapon is CRAP at higher levels. Mobs have too much hp anyways and if you think Wurmy's are good at high levels, let me show you why not.. this was taken from Modi Guru and btw, the scion axe he's talking about is a 14/22

Quote:
OK... lets look at the Wurmy first. It is 25/40. A delay of 40 means the weapon makes an attempt to swing every 4 seconds. So a Wurmy will swing 15 times per minute. (60/4=15swings) Ok so the maximum PURE WEAPON damage (not worrying about str and all that JUST the weapon)is calculated by multiplying the damage times the number of swings/minute. 25*15=375 damage. In your PRIMARY hand you need to add the damage bonus as well. At 46 the dam bonus is 7, the 49-8 52-9 55-10 and so on. So at your level you take the damage bonus of 7 times 15 swings and you get the additional damage for dam bonus... 7*15=105.
25*15=375 weapon damage
7*15=105 damage bonus
Wurmy...375+105= 480 total

Lets look at one of my favorites the Razor Edge shan'tok a 12/20
weap with Great Ranger stats (4STA)and hps. 20 delay= swing every 2 seconds.. twice as fast as the Wurmy. 60/2=30 swings.
12*30=360 weapon damage
7*30=210 damage bonus
Razor...360+210=570

hmm as you can see although the wulmy itself outdamges the faster weapon the damage bonuses really added up with 30 swings.
Around level 46 you should start moving to faster weapons in your PRIMARY to take advantage of that damage bonus. The higher you are and the bigger your damage bonus is the more powerfull this becomes.

At this point you should replace the Wulmy with the Razor edged Shan'tok. The lupine is ok, but clearly under performs the shan'tok... I would keep it for the Greater wolf form proc when hunting in JPF. Wolf Form makes you indifferent to griffs as you are monig around, and many will not add... some higher level GrifFONS will still add but as you gain levels the number will drop more and more. At 49 you get wolf form so you dont really need the Lup dagger after that.
The Scion Axe is Recomend level 60... at 53 it was like a 12/21 rather than its full stregth stats of 14/21... at 53 the Razor Edged Shantok was the better weapon. Around 57 I replaced the Shan'tok with the Scion axe.

Lets pretend you could use the Tox Axe now at full strength. 10/17... 60/1.7=35 swings
10*35=350 weapon damage
7*35=245 damage bonus
Toxx Axe...350+245= 595 Slightly better than the Shan'tok... not enough to make me want to buy it (way more expensive of the two on my server at the time and still).

Offhand boils down to the best Ratio period. No damage bonus here.
Centi LS 14/27= .518
Shan'tok 12/20= .600
Toxx Axe 10/17= .588
DLB recomend 56 22/34= 647 Obviously at yuor level it wont be full strength but as long at it is 18/27 or better it beats the CentiLS. Pretty darn cheap too. At 51 you could also use the Toxx in primary and Shan'tok in secondary... but a lot of folks go with the DLB because of its great ratio and price...

Make sure you dont go below 101 STA if you replace the CentiLS and youll be fine.

Hope that helped some... alway pays to do the math before buying new weaps so you can see if its worth that extra 5K... a lot of times it LOOKS better but the math tells another story
good luck.

Although it's true that this weapon isn't as good at higher levels, you forgot one important factor, haste. Haste affects higher delay weps more than low delay ones. i.e. with SCHW (21% haste)the wurmy goes down to 31.6 delay, the RES only goes down to 15.8, still alot better than wurmy but should be taken into consideration...
RE: The weapon sucks!
# Oct 21 2004 at 4:05 PM Rating: Decent
According to your calculation, with 100% haste, the delay on any weapon would be ZERO. Just so you know, Haste works like this:

If you were to have 100% haste, you would swing twice in the span it would take you to normally swing once.

Eg. Wurmslayer, with 100% haste, the delay would be 20. With 21% haste, the delay would be 35.8

The delay on the "RES" would be 17.9

I hope that clears up your befuddlement.

Cheers.

What the hell is a DLB? I am using Razor-edged Shan'Tok aug'd with Permafrost Chunk of Resilience effect mirror1 (combat) and Stained Axe of the Scions aug'd with Warm Emerald Shard effect heated blade (combat). My belt is Nightrage's Gore Belt (should have waited and got a better belt but anyway) aug'd with Jagged Slate of Battle Prowess effect:haste (worn) 21%and Flawless Purple Gem of Deftness. With a caster chanter or shammy speed buff, I swing baby swing !!!.
At level 56, this ranger rocks and starting to peak the 4k hp mark. And on the neck Cracked Jeweled Choker aug'd with Crumbled Gravestone of Renewal regen1, I often run in LDoN with 15 Icon spells and when mirror procs it no shows.

I may be mistake but I was told the reason the wurmy was so widely used was because of the high delay/damage, not only because of lower agro, but because of the fact that haste has more of an effect on it. i.e. with SCHW a centi (27 delay) only goes down 6 while a wurmy (40) goes down by about 9. I realize this isn't much but that's what I was told. Flame away!

higher the elay higherthe damgwe bonous in the end and damge bonous add to the base damage... say its 13 damge bonous or somthign that 38/40 a decent ratioa and with haste it could be a 38/28 + tribute haste 38/24 and buffs reguarly 38/20 meaning after lots of buffs and ur worn ahaste and being a decent level the damge this wepon does is pretty awesome- still way better stuff tho-

So I go out and buy a Wurmslayer and what happens? A friend of mine gives me his Wurmslayer to use since he no longer needs it. Needless to say I really wish Wurmy could be dual wielded, but it can't. Goes for around 700-800 normally on Veeshan server, will sell one for 500. /tell Woodzee.

That's why Pretz post doesn't make sense. He says it can be dual wielded, but not held in offhand. So how do you use two, when it won't go in secondary?
RE: I hated to do it

I believe he just meant you can use it with another weapon, but you can't use it in the secondary slot. He was just generalizing the term "duel wield" into "using two weapons."

You are kinda right, you really want a low delay prmary weapon as the damage bonus adds will be +13 say every 1 sec instead of 4. include double attack and you are missing out on 78 (2(double attack)*13(max dmg bonus)*3 (missed opportuinites)) damage on the 4 sec delay weapon for every time you get to attack.
RE: Wurmslayers r too slow!!!!!

Slow? So? it is pretty strong. Strong then my Ranger's Elder Wolf Jawbone. Besides, just because it's slow, doesnt mean it suxs. Some weapons have a huge dmg, but hugeER delay, but, you can kill the mob with one hit (well, you get the point) and THAT, my freind, is worth while. (or just get a few hastes)
RE: Wurmslayers r too slow!!!!!

Yes, they are slow, but damaging... which is precisely what DPS classes want. Let's us do serious damage without as great a chance of stealing aggro.

Nice try, but no.

Silver Chitin Hand Wraps, have 22% haste. They would make a wurmslayer's effective delay 33.

The effective delay on the lamentation would be 16.

Remember that the SCHW and any other haste item, will haste ANY weapon you use. So, if wurmslayer is too slow unhasted, relative to other weapons (more than double the delay of lammy), it STILL will be twice as slow after haste.

Oh, effective delay on Cent LS would be 23, not 6.

Actually, at low levels before damage bonus starts to add up, Wurmslayer should be better than Centi LS. After a while, though, the lower delay on the Centi will make this better in terms of DPS than the Wurmy. Keep checking the ratio as you level.

((Damage+Damage Bonus)*2)+1/(Delay/10)

As soon as the Centi LS comes out ahead of Wurmslayer, put Wurmy away and go with Centi full time.

Plugging in the numbers:

Before you get damage bonus:

Wurmy (25*2)+1=51/(40/10) or 4=12.75 DPS
Centi LS (14*2)+1=29/(27/10) or 2.7=10.74 DPS

When your damage bonus reaches 9, however it changes.

Wurmy ((25+9)*2)+1=69/(40/10) or 4= 17.25 DPS
Centi LS ((14+9)*2)+1=47/(27/10) or 2.7=17.41 DPS

And the gap gets wider in favor of the Centi from there. So keep both but use Wurmy until you get your damage bonus up to 9 then drop Wurmy.

Sell them both, and get a noctivigant blade.

Or if you cannot afford that, get a Mace of the shadowed soul. Either would be tons better for an SK than wurmy or centi LS.

Good 2hs would be ornate run blade til lvl 20 (due to damage cap), then try to get an argent protector.

Well, I got the Argent Protector (2k) as you suggested and I hit for a max of 29 at lvl 16. With a wurmmy and a cracked darkwood shield, however, I hit for a max of 29 and bash for a max of 15. Right now it seems that the Wrummy/shield combo is working better. Does the Argent Protector's damage go up more as I lvl.

By the way, my 2H Slash skill is higher than 1H slash. I thought if I were to get it up higher, my damage would be higher, but no go.

Until level 20, you have a damage cap. There is also a damage cap lifted at level 10; before then max damage is 21. When you get to 20, you will almost instantly see both weapons do a LOT more damage, the AP likely in the range of 110 and the wurmy in a range of around 70 or so. Bash damage also increases. At 28 you start getting "Bonus Damage". This adds so many points of damage when you attack, and will also increase as you level. Hope this all helps!

Wurmslayer vs Centi Ls

Finding a weapon that works best for you is the most important part of the melee class. I have a 39 Paladin strength defecent Erudite, yes I know, lame choice ). I have both weapons, and find the Wurmslayer with the silver chitin hand wraps works the best for me. I group with the Real tank (warrior) class, and can do near as much dammage and hardly any aggro. My lame contribution to group and board. Best of luck to us all.

no bane needed

Right now i have a wurmy centi short combo i am a lvl 34 warr and i hit anywhere from 25 to 90 dmg regular and i get crits for 150+ and crips for 200+ with my wurmy so i would have to say that the wurmy doesnt need bane dmg its alredy badass as it is. If anybody has a Centi Long on the Tallon Zek server they are willing to part with for 500pp plus some good items please send Luminissater a tell thanks
Bane: Wurm?

wouldn't you think the Wurmslayer would have a bane against wurms?
RE: Bane: Wurm?
# Feb 24 2004 at 3:45 PM Rating: Decent
It does have bane damage against worms and wyverns (a.k.a. Dragons). At level 33 my warrior is getting your will is not sufficient enough to use this wep or something like that.

Lammy isn't a very good secondary weapon, and wurmslayer is primary only. so I'd have to say no.

Also, it depends on what class you are.

If you're a ranger, a wurmslayer is a good high ratio sword, and can last you to lvl 50, maybe even a little longer. If doen't produce much aggro at all, which is nice. I've seen a low 50s ranger with Wurmy and defender's lightblade, produce some massive damage, and never once take a hit.

For a warrior, you'll probably have a tough time keeping aggro with a wurmy. Most warriors who use wurmslayer usually replace it by lvl 40, as they find a fast weapon like lamentation to be a better taunt weapon. Proccing weapons like frostbringer do an even better job on taunt.

For offhand, the primary thing to focus on is RATIO. Lammy has a worse raw ratio than centi SHORT sword. I'd look for a weapon with a ratio of less than 2 for secondary.

If you're looking for proc weapons, again, frostbringer, honed blade of ykesha, or similar are nice. For raw ratio/stats, I like the tae ew longsword or tae ew dagger (but you must be lvl 51 to use either).

Im going to have to disagree with you on the Rangers not getting aggro with a Wurmslayer. Im a 48 Ranger and I get a lot of aggro with this just simply because I hit harder, it could be because my secondary is a Curved Lunar Scimtar (19 del/7dmg/5Mdmg) which hits pretty fast or because of my bad luck. Either way I do pick up a lot of aggro with it.

Try swapping it with a fast weapon. Put a lamentation in primary, and you'll take aggro more than you do with this. Depending on haste, and any spells you cast, its not unusual for a ranger to pull aggro, aespecially if you are snaring the mobs. Your life will get easier when you get the JOLT spell.

Worst aggro combination I have ever seen, was just last night, in PoI. My group was pulling near ZI, and another group set up right next to us. their tank was a warrior with a wurmslayer, and a defender's lightblade. Every time I would CH the tank in MY group (an SK with narandi's lance) our mob stayed on the SK, but THE OTHER GROUP'S mob, would peel off their tank, onto ME. I wasn't even healing someone fighting their mob, but the guy was so horrible at holding aggro with that weapon combo, I kept getting whacked by his mobs.

Of course their group broke up pretty quick after their cleric died a couple times from heal aggro.

So to reiterate what I said before

Wurmslayer = fairly low aggro weapon.

yup, slow and steady for rangers, get a fast weapon to build some agro with a warrior, a nice proc is nice too, but the wurmy is a decent dps weapon for when your not tanking

Too Funny! 20th'ish lvls running around with this sword.
Question.
Do you people ever work for your items or just buy them (or have high lvls give them to you)? Don't tell me, as soon as you got duel wield you had Longsword of Freedom in one hand, the Longblade of Vitality in the other, and the wurmy in your range just for the heck of it. Pretty sure the 30th'ish lvls worked for it to..ha

I quested mine at Lv23 as a halfling ranger. I had the help of a 50ish wood elf ranger who was trying to do the same quest. The stupid trigger phrase was NOT spawning Sir Hobble like it should, and I spent 16 hours over 3 days hitting the trigger phrase. The other ranger sat out near the road and Tracked everytime I gave the trigger phrase back in town. As for the scales, I quested the one out of OT (died, but I did it on my own), and bought the other two from the Bazaar for around 100pp per. This is now my primary and I have a Pine Shaft Pike in the offhand (bought off a vendor, in case you wonder), and I'm questing my own Swiftclaw Sash out in Stonebrunt. Some of us do want to "earn it" as you say.

I think that if someone has a character high enough in lvl to twink a character with a wurmy or lammy or what not they have earned the right to twink, good point Stryph.

Not to put words in anyone's mouth but I think he was trying to make a point. A lot of us old schoolers would never even dream of having a Wurmslayer at that level. It just wasn't obtainable. Instead, we would group and go down to Lower Guk in hopes of Ebony Bladed Sword or some such.

With the way the game has evolved people can have their main character farm awesome equipment for them so their lower level characters don't have to endure the same hardships as we did way back when. I personally think you are robbing yourself of the opportunity to fight in Blackburrow and get excited over an Oppaline Earing or saving your plat to travel all the way out to the gypsy camp in North Karana to buy a Combine Longsword from Roule for 60 plat.

For the Old Schoolers don't get upset at seeing the level 5 Ranger wearing the Cloak of Flames with a Lammy and Lodizal Shell Shield. Enjoy your memories and let them makwe their own.

Any Lvl 5 Ranger with a CoF needs shooting... he should be wearing a CoCW Like mine does, same Haste, and cheaper... baby Rangers need Dex, not Str ;)

Reason's comment about smoking crack withstanding... you might want to check the program you are using to calculate the numbers. They do seem a little high for your level/stats and this weapon.

Just a suggestion.

100 DPS at lvl 31 with 200+ STR? I doubt you're doing better than 25 DPS, and that's with high level chanter haste, a haste item, and bard stacking haste. A lvl 65 warrior with a bunch of AA's might approach 90 dps. So, go smoke your crack in the privacy of your own home. And get a log parser.
Longblade of vitality
# May 06 2003 at 6:51 AM Rating: Good
This isn't a flame message but just a logical response on the longblade of vitality message of Leadaira.

Ofcourse longblade of vitality is MUCH better with ratio and stats. But keep the main reasons in mind why people want a wurmy.

1st.

Wurmslayer is no UBER high level weapon like the blade of vitality. It's a starter weapon, and most people use it that way. You can use it from level 1 till low in the 50's. Longblade of vitality is recommanded lvl 56, which means it's pretty wothless at lower levels.

2nd.

Wurmslayer is VERY cheap in comparison to the longblade of vitality which is most of the time 10 or even more times wurmslayers value.

Just because there are some better weapons around doesn't mean you shouldn't go for a wurmy.

just a tip:

If you want a good cheap high level weapon for a pally (Recom 53), look for the:

"mace of the fallen crusader" 21/25
(I believe it's called like that)

I know it's 1hb and no 1hs. But with a lil luck you can buy it in the bazaar really cheap (500-1000pp) and that's still a LOT cheaper then the longblade of vitality.

Just my 2 coppers,

Love,

Wandriana Noamuth 57 Necromancer

Zagrum Doomcrusher 54 Shadowknight
Fenror Bloodbasher 54 Beastlord
Perwin Aryet 34 Magican
Charisia Dreamsigh 33 Enchanter
Morok Thunderstone 30 Paladin

/Agree the Mace of the Fallen Crusader is a rather nice weapon that is insanely cheap, but if you are anything like me and you havent trained your 1hb at all you are pretty much out of luck...
