Now that I've stopped laughing, let me say the following:

I can't believe you are comparing a weapon that drops in HoH (tier three pop zone) with a weapon that is quested using KUNARK drops.

I can solo the wurmslayer quest with my 54 druid. I can't even get FLAGGED TO ENTER halls of honor.

BUY the longblade of vitality??? Never even seen one for sale. I'm sure it would be 50k at least on my server.

The poster above does a good job of explaining why this comparison is faulty.

BTW, I have a wurmy on my 33 Pally. Usually use an argent protector, but like to pull out the wurmy and a shield when fighting casters. Does a darn good job at that level.
Range Slot?
# May 01 2003 at 10:23 AM Rating: Decent
Okay, this says it can be equipped in the Range Slot with 20 range. What does it do there? Can you throw it? Why would you want to?

RE: Range Slot?
# May 13 2003 at 4:45 AM Rating: Decent
if you equip it in your range slot you still get the stats, though I would recomend not haveing range attack hot keyed, and would advise unequiping it from ranged slot if chanter mobs are in the area as you would likely throw it first thing if charmed.

Had this weapon for awhile and its good but not what I really expected...thought it would hit 100's but I guess my str's to low (150) instead I hit 70-80 and now at 40 I hit 75-95 and somtimes 100 when I'm really lucky and maybe even double 100 but later I going to sell this to make room for a Greenmist with is 18dmg 22dly less dmg but deals it faster

Which is a better combo?
# Mar 26 2003 at 1:16 AM Rating: Decent
should I wield Wurmy in primary and Bloodfire in secondary, or Bloodfire in primary and Centi LS in secondary?

will there be a big difference in the amount of time Bloodfire procs?
RE: Which is a better combo?

Blood fire and CLS will keep aggro MUCH, MUCH better.
RE: Which is a better combo?
# Aug 24 2003 at 6:13 PM Rating: Decent
That's true but I would think his necessity to keep aggro should be based on his class, which he didn't specify. If he is a ranger I don't think he would want, or need, to keep aggro.

Are you dumb? 100+ STA solves all of that. You don't need that yellow bar.

# May 13 2003 at 4:51 AM Rating: Decent
I have noticed with my Ogre Warrior who has a 180 stamina that even with high end stam haveing empty bar dose effect you, albeit you do not get stats lowered but you do miss more often and when you hit the average damage is for less and at a slightly slower rate.

To compensate if you plan to solo in later levels (yes with proper gear you can still do it with a warrior) I would advise getting abrum's axe of the stoic as I've found the proc will refresh my stamina over 3 ticks, each one doing about 1/2 my stamina bar.... this is really handy when you are useing fast weapons.

As long as your STA is over 100, you will suffer no adverse effects from a drained stamina bar except for being unable to jump. No big deal.

# Feb 24 2003 at 10:06 AM Rating: Decent
I am currently a 28 warrior duel wielding two centi LS's (yeah, yeah twinkie). Wondering if it would be better to use a wurmy/centi combo instead of centi combo.
RE: equipment question
# Feb 24 2003 at 5:13 PM Rating: Good
If you are soloing or grouped with a cleric you would most lilkly find that a wyrmie and a centi LS would be a slightly improved DPS from level 20 until you hit level 53 or so.

If you are trying to be the MA for an exp group, however, you may find that the weapons slow speed does not hold the aggro as well as you might like, and may have to swap to a procing or faster weapon in your Pri/Sec slots
Wurmslayer is awesome
# Jan 24 2003 at 9:40 AM Rating: Decent
I just bought a wurmslayer last night, and decided to test it out on some underbulks in Echo caverns. Before I had be alternating between ghoulbane and an argent defender. I usually was able to win the fight faster using the argent, as it was hitting for more damage..Yes I understand that it is a 2hs that has a 49 delay, however, I was still winning faster, even though I was hitting more often with the ghoulbane (nothing to scoff at) which is a 15/34 weapon. NOT using any math (the best way to pick a weapon is to use it) I discovered that the argent was a "better" weapon to use against non-undead mobs because it did cause much more damage even though it was a "slow" weapon. So, I used the wurmslayer against the underbulks and was root kiting 4 at a time and found that this weapon is absolutely fantastic...I was doubling for 60's 70's and 80's , and combine that with 30+ point bashes, it blew the ghoulbane away (which used to be one of the best 1hs in the game some time ago) My next test was in Unrest, and I will not bore you with the details, but it should be called Chorrum's estate of unrest now. Wurmslayer+instrument of nife= absolute ownage. I will never regret owning this weapon at all, and if you buy it, it is a very good investment, as I seriously doubt you will lose money if you decide to sell it. In my opinion, this blows the centi lognsword away (people only get the cls for looks anyway) flame away on that, but remember, I said in my opinion, besides the centi does not add AC :)
RE: Wurmslayer is awesome

I have only one argument here. If you're looking to train 1h slashing quicker and still do a decent ammount of damage, the centi longsword works very well. Not that there aren't better, but I like it. =)

Re: Training 1HS
# Jul 02 2003 at 10:59 AM Rating: Decent
You bring up a very good point here. If you're one of those classes who doesn't use a 1HS most of the time but just wants to keep it trained up, I'd go for a lighter faster weapon than a wurmy to train it quick, then get back to your main weapon skill. At 15 stones and a delay of 40, this is not going to win any prizes as a trainer weapon. For 1HS I keep a nice, inexpensive Sharpened Flotsam in my pack. It does the job quickly and does not take up much weight in your pack; you just have to be able to survive the low damage output.

And i like it very much i have my 2hs maxed for my lvl and working on maxing 1hs now. i know a faster weapon would work better for that but its only like 5 points from max for me at 33 my max 1hs is 175 i think cuz my 2hs at 33 is maxed at 175. any way i have my dex, agi, sta, over 100 about 120 and i am finding that with either 1hs or 2hs i have a very hard time hitting a mob like i did at lower lvls should i increase my dex and agi? I dont have alot of pp to put into gear so most of my stuff is gotten either by hand me downs or getting it myself . when i say i dont have the plat to buy items i mean i on any of my char have never had over 1000pp. Any way that being not rrelevant, What should i do increase my dex and sta or agi and sta i cant remember what helps you hit more.

And back then that was a good deal! On my 31 ranger my best hit with it ever has Been, 92, 68, 24, kick for 15.... Right in a row, with duel wield and double attack kicking in. I'm dueling wurmy and a centi SS and I love it, I hope to be getting a GJBS in replace of my wurmy.. Im giving wurmy to a friend.. Next to weight I still love it =P

I recently had a friendly duel with a warrior of the same lvl as myself, he also had higher HP gear, a Kunzar Ku'juch and a Centi SS, while I had higher strength, an FBSS, a wurmyslayer, and a crystalline SS... He thought he could beat me since the wurny was "so slow". Well I am happy to announce that I pounded him into the ground, and when he came back after dying, I beat him a second time, he had full Hp, while my HP was only at 300 or so. Wurmy DOES more damage, I have been known as main assist to pull the aggro from warriors that were 7 lvls higher than myself, EITHOUT using taunt because I was regularly doing much MUCH more damage than they were... you can do all the math you want but the proof is in the game. Wurmy is better! end of story

Of course you prefer a 2HS over a 1HS, since you're a SK. SKs never get duel wield, although this weapon would still be useful if you are under 30, because of the damage cap.

# Nov 09 2002 at 12:16 AM Rating: Decent
Hello, I just wanted to add something to this string. I started to use the wurmmy at lvl 25ish. I loved this weapon and used it all the way to about 45, at 45 and around that time, as a warrior comes into his or her own, you will start looking for a faster weapon because your job as a warrior is to keep the damage on you. I started to carry a Lammy in primary and centi short in secondary, this combo proved very nice, but yes the Centi short is no weapon to write home about and to me the centi LS is a tad slow and now and days Hard to find. At lvl 53 I normally use a Guard captains Mallet in primary and a lammy in secondary, this combo has proven very nice for damage and holding taunt. So, at 53 I decided to dust off the ol' Wurmmy and give it a swing in the RM against those rich giants, (hard to solo as a warrior). I found out that the Wurmmy is doing a helluva lot more damage at my current lvl than lvls long past. To solo the RM giants or when I am NOT the MT in a group or raid situation I use the wurmmy primary and Mallet secondary, if I am the MT I use the Mallet and Lammy. Anyways what I am trying to say is that when you move up in lvls take some time to rediscover the wurmmy, you may be very suprised.

Wurmy's IMO are great for rangers, but for warriors they suxorz. U need a low delay in ur primary to keep taunt. The only way i've seen a war keep taunt with a wurmslayer, was when he was duel wieldin a wurmy and a velium swiftblade(5/24 Effect:haste) the swiftblade hsa crap ratio but a 41% haste, cutting the wurmys delay to about 24. My 43 Warrior atm Is duel wieldin a frostbringer and a sarnak parrying blade, and i have no problem keepin taunt over a war w/ wurmy.
RE: You dont get the point
# Nov 29 2002 at 7:31 PM Rating: Decent
you are so wrong dude
you ALWAYS want low dly in both prim and secondary and a proc somewhere between there as a warr
high dmg, high ratio weapons are for rangers
plus a frekin flowing red silk sash are only 6% haste
RE: You dont get the point
# Dec 10 2002 at 2:27 PM Rating: Decent
> high dmg, high ratio weapons are for rangers

I totaly agree here: as a 51 RNG I'm FAR better off with a Wurmy than with a Lamy in PRIM, and an underated Venomous Axe in SEC (11/24 AC10 with a 85 Poison DD proc that I yet have to see resisted).

Sure the Lammy's delay's nice, but I got low hits that maxed out in the low 40s with it (137 STR) while I really often hit for 100-110 with the Wurmy.

Last I've noticed that my skills didn't raise that much faster with a Lammy than with my regular 11/24 weapon

# Oct 06 2002 at 7:03 PM Rating: Decent
I see many of you like to do calculation on paper and think they are the total truth in game. Well I here to tell you throw all the calculation out. I have a 52 Ogre Warrior and I own with a WS in primary. I hardly ever have to hit taunt even with rogues in my group. I have repeatly taken argo from warrior i higher lvl then me wielding Lammys and many other combinations of weapon. I personally have tried many different combinations of weapons. Yet I can not do as much damage with any combination without a WS in my primary. I have alot of difficulty soloing without the WS. So if you are a large races the WS is the best no drop weapon readily availible to you. I have found though that if your stamina is blow 200 you have alot of difficulty wielding this weapon to its full effectiveness. This is just my 2cp worth because im tired of all the people using useless calculation that rally dont mean anything in game because alot of factors are no figured into thier calulations

I seem to hit around 1-63. Although the weapon is not at it's full potential, because the last damage cap is lifted at level 30.

I'm currently using it on my Alt Pally. Once he's 30, I'll be switching to a 2 handed weapon, since paladins don't have duel weild :(.
RE: WS the best No Drop weapon!
# Oct 30 2002 at 1:40 PM Rating: Default
when you compare the damage ratio to a weapon like centi longsword it gets damn hard to tell. its all based on luck when you get 2 weapons with ratios this close. on a successful 2 round double attack quad the minimum damage for centi is 100 with a max of 200. while the centi does this, wurmy does 1 round and takes a few more mila- seconds to have another round. its all based on luck. centi ls has the potential to be more damaging then wurmy over time, while the wurmy itself is good for delivering solid amount of damage in a instant. keep in mind haste on weapons with high delay tends to work more effectively.

in the case of failure to connect a whole 2.7 seconds is lost for wurmy. only about 1.3 for centi ls. these arent exactly numbers. if your a paladin or sk there can only be a single 1hs used.

More Calculations on Wurmy Debate
# Oct 03 2002 at 12:12 PM Rating: Default
Here are some sample calculations.
Additional assumptions:
Assume a 1hs damage bonus of 9. (mid 50s char)
20% of slashes will be missed.
Haste item 22% (Silver Chitin Hand Wraps)
Group situations: Chanter 64% haste.

Lammy has a 9/19 base, 18/19 adj with bonus, with 22% haste ratio is 18/15.57. Slashes/min = 38.5. Misses 20% = 6 for 32.12 hits/min. Hits/min 32.12 * Damage 18 = 585.72 DPM.

Wurmy has 25/40 base, 34/40 adj with bonus, with 22% haste ratio is 34/32.79. Slashes/min = 18.5. Misses 20% = 3 for 15.25 Hits/min. Hits/min 15.25 * Damage 34 = 518.5 DPM.

Group situations:
Add chanter haste 64% (distributed), using above formula, and the results are:
Lammy 900 damage/min
Wurmy 850 damage/min

If you get faster haste items in a group setting with chanter hastes to exceed 64%, the Lammy does not get any faster (1.0 sec swing rate cap), and the Wurmy does. So, if you were an uber group with max haste and quickness buffs, you could potentially drive a formula in which the Wurmy could increase its DPM to greater than that of the Lammy.

I agree that they are both great weapons, and it is a matter of choice and preference. I happen to like the quick wood-elf rangerish speed. Some lumbering types would likely prefer the big blast effect of a Wurmy that does damage in the 100s.

Also note that at lower levels, the damage bonus for 1hs weapons is much less. In those situations, the Wurmy fares MUCH better, and is the mathematically better weapon until the damage bonus = 6 for 1hs.

Same formula:
At Damage bonus = 0
Lammy has a 9/19 base, with 22% haste ratio is 9/15.57. Slashes/min = 38.5. Misses 20% = 6 for 32.12 hits/min. Hits/min 32.12 * Damage 9 = 289 DPM.

Wurmy has 25/40 base, with 22% haste ratio is 25/32.79. Slashes/min = 18.5. Misses 20% = 3 for 15.25 Hits/min. Hits/min 15.25 * Damage 25 = 381 DPM.

Wurmslayer 381 DPM
Lamentation 289 DPM

So you can see, until you get to high levels, Wurmslayer may be the mathematically better weapon, but at higher levels, the Lammy edges it out.

Another consideration is that in the off-hand in for a duel wielding character, damage bonuses do NOT apply. So one could argue that the Wurmy would ALWAYS be the better weapon in the off-hand.

half elf warrior(not many of those on Innoruk) - str at 173 with wurmy and centi ls- have an FBSS (ring of goblin lords before that) at lvl 32 I've been getting crit's for 151. I regularly hit for 60+. Most of the double attacks that i get off read like :
you slashed a ' ' for 85
' 'for 70
' 'for 40
' 'for 40

every now and then I get a 'normal ' hit for 115.
I've owned this wurmmy since I was lvl 25.

p.s. I've had folks I group with say 'you hit for how much with that wurmy?' while they are reading the text.

#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 27 2002 at 3:21 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ok most people are missing the point here. The damage calculations look nice on paper, but let's look at the actual game. How many times would you swing with a Lammy in 1 minute not hasted, and how many times with a Wurmslayer. The Lammy's Delay is 19 that is measure in 10th of a second. You will swing the Lammy 31.6 times in 1 minute and the Wurmy 15. Now let's figure in misses if you miss 6 times with each then you hit 24 times with the Lammy and 9 with the Wurmy. now take the possible damage. Using base damages only 216 with the Lammy and 225 with the Wurmy. Ok so with the wurmy you get 9 more damage in 1 minute. Then you figure in haste like so. New (hasted) Delay = (delay/1+haste percentage) so if you have an FBSS which is 21% haste your equation would look like so with a Lamentation. 19/1.21= 15.7 (rounded up to 16). So, it is really up to you as to what you want to use. Personally I say Lammy in primary and Centi in off hand. This is a much better combination. A higher damage is nice but the delay hurts in the long run. Figure in misses to hits and if you can swing faster and hit a little more often with a little less damage you will in turn over time deal much more damage. Also another thing that many don't figure in is weight. Also, with that higher delay, how many more times are you getting hit and taking more damage??? I hope I didn't confuse anyone any more. I will also show you how to figure swings per minute. SPM= 60 /(Delay/10) so plug in the numbers from Lamentation SPM= 60/(19/10) so 60/1.9 = 31.6. Sorry to carry on so much and I will probably be flamed and ranted, but I don't care. Some may disagree with what I said, but all in all it falls into 3 categories 1. What you want to use. 2. What fits best in the situation. 3. What works best to your style of fighting. I am not flaming the Wurmy or anything else. Once you reach higher levels, many of these variables change drastically. But, having a Warrior with a STR and STA of 214 unbuffed at lvl 11 (yes I am twinked slightly) I would rather stick with a lower damage/delay weapon due to the fact that misses usually outweigh the hits and at lower level it pays to have a weapon with a lot lower delay that may not do as much damage, but you get many more chances to hit. This is just my 2cp. Flame me if you must.

There is a flaw in your calculations. You said, "The Lammy's Delay is 19 that is measure in 10th of a second. You will swing the Lammy 31.6 times in 1 minute and the Wurmy 15. Now let's figure in misses if you miss 6 times with each then you hit 24 times with the Lammy and 9 with the Wurmy."

The RATIO of hits to misses should be the same, not the count of raw misses. In other words, if the Wurmy misses 6/15, or 40% of the time then the Lammy will miss 40% for like 12 or 13 misses out of 31.6. I would say the Wurmslayer is better for non-tanks for its higher DPS until sometime after level 50 when the dmg bonus might catch up.

your forgetting things like riposte...higher dmg primary means higher riposte dmg. And that can add up and help much.
RE: Just my 2cp
# Oct 02 2002 at 6:27 PM Rating: Default
No Riposte double and triple attacks were not figured in on any of these equations. There it depends on that skill lvl of the player. So just as I was looking at it, those don't even factor in because being random as they are it is difficult to add these in. As was said in the post "Once you reach higher levels, many of these variables change drastically". So in answer to your post is this... No they weren't forgotten, they were omitted because it is not a constant. And one other thing to add is this. Are you more likely to riposte more with a lower delay weapon or a higher delay weapon. Yes the riposte damage will be more with a higher damage weapon. But my whole point of the post was "all in all it falls into 3 categories 1. What you want to use. 2. What fits best in the situation. 3. What works best to your style of fighting." So again it is personal prefrence. If you want a 1hs high damage high delay with a good ratio, the wurmy is the way to go. Here again, it boils down to personal prefrence, and that is all anyone can say. Me, I PREFER a high damage low delay weapon say for instance Centi LS and Velium Swiftblade. At lvl 18 36% haste suits me just fine to Crit for 60+ damage with the Centi LS. But that is what I like

Who cares if they aren't constant? They do help with the damage ratio over time. Think about it an extra hit, with that high delay. Who cares if you have a fast wpn and you get an extra hit.

Better ratios, with high damage output are the way to go for high levels (+30).

I dont care about ratios, dps, and haste crap. Its quite simple! My attack is 924. Now, I use SCHW, and any haste I get, I know I'm hitting faster. I'm just here to swing my wurmy and centi ls, dont care how often I hit or miss, cuz I am certainly doing more damage, and holding aggro (without hitting taunt) than the rest of the group.

My 2cp, flame on.

Geez, you folks think too much, I kinda like the whole dmg/dly thing, and I'm not really interested in timers, counting, etcetera. "Math sucks. who cares what the square root of the wurmy when you mix it with a centi long sword." Will I live to fight another day? Most likely. Will I hold aggro? Probably so. My case is solved...keep arguing folks, I enjoy a good bloodbath >:)
