As a caster who bots, I kinda wish you would've emphasized #4 and #6 a little by putting them in there 10 more times.

I run 2 bots during raids, and I always groan when we take on a mob with directional AEs. We can never seem to keep them positioned in 1 spot, let alone yank 'em around to face whichever direction we want.

More than once, I've received a directional emote and run to the proper side, just in time for someone to ping-pong aggro and put me (and more importantly, Mr. Cleric-Bot) in harm's way.

I suppose that, in some ways, this is a good thing. When you've got a tank (or tanks) who assume that kind of liability for the whole raid, it tends to make everyone else lazy and careless. If it takes an occasional death to AE to make everyone sit up and take notice...well, let's just say we never have to worry about people being AFK. </grin>

You sure that wasn't from Enchanter-cast Haste? We tend to hit everyone indiscriminately.

I know for a fact that our best Haste, Speed/Hastening of Ellowind, bestows the chance to crit even for those classes that don't get it. I myself have critted often while meleeing, with no buffs up but my own.

Too bad SOE can't seem to extend the same courtesy to our pets; I've never seen Shiny Bob crit, regardless of what buffs he had up...

Tell that to the tanks who bid/roll on caster gear from all the expansions to DoN with the petty excuse that they can wear it cause it is marked all/all. Casters finally get to bid/roll on melee gear and were asses now O.o Any tank that gripes about a caster bidding/rolling on this needs their head examined as well. It is a great peice of gear for anyone, casters included.

Lets see, +22 STR, great since caster are normally the ones in charge of looting. Weight belive it or not is still a problem for a lot of us. Not to mention all the other uses STR has.
+17 STA, more HP's. I have seen all caster groups do MPG and RS, nothing wrong with having more HP's since we really lack in that department. Melee generally are capped on STA at lvl 70.
+23 WIS and INT, useless for melee, all they do is tank.
+18 AGI Again a hard one to cap for casters. The more the merrier.
+275 HP's/Mana Just cause we casters we dont benifit from it? O.o
Combat effects and accuracy. Last I seen my throwing is maxxed, many other casters as well. Pulling is not a mana/arrow thing only. Combat effects, last I seen there is many casters out there with proc weapons.

But now ferocity V and endurance... that is something we can not use.... I guess that means we dont deserve this item and if we bid/roll on it were asses... damn... somehow your reasoning evades me.
Dont you dare say you never bid/rolled on obvious caster gear just because it is marked all/all. This one is too, it does make a mighty fine peice of caster gear, and I have never seen or heard of any all melee raids winning with only tanks, you need us. Got a problem with us getting decent gear, or only tanks deserve it. It is marked all/all for a reason, yes it does make a nice tank gear, but the stats alone will really boost any caster a great deal while only giving a slight increase for tanks (unless they are a 'gimp' 70).

But that is only my opinion. If your a tank, I can see why you dont like this being all/all. But we casters had to live with our gear being all/all upto and including DoN.

I don't know who you raid with, or what content you've done at your level of 68, although most higher end guilds tend to put restrictions on drops. This would be a case where most raid leaders would refuse caster bids. Besides the there is an abundance of caster loot already on his drop table, if casters are going to be bidding on everything, what benefit would melee/hybrids have in doing any of these encounters?

If the problem of melee/hybrids bidding on caster gear has been plaguing your guild/raids, I'd quickly suggest hitting the 'Guild Disband' button, and finding a guild who knows how to properly rate and distribute loots.

Don't use the excuse that all through PoP others were taking your loots.

Judging by the fact you have almost no raid gear in your magelo, I wonder how you feel so qualified to talk about what "most higher end guilds" do for loot distribution.

My guild is in anguish, and we use DKP. The highest DKP person who bids on the item wins it. If a caster bid on this, and had high enough DKP they would get it.

Now, on the other hand, most caster have an upgrade plan, and probably would not bid on this, as it would waste DKP, if they planned to upgrade it soon anyhow. But, if they bid, they would get it.

Personally, I am holding out for the neck from the Circle of Drakes event.

Wow... I posted a perfectly adequate post with an explanation. That nice, I'm happy that you and your guild are in Anguish. No need to jump down my throat as we are only doing Time and Ikky/Uqua. Here is a thread with some relevance... all three pages are relevant, but the last one has more detail from some of the "higher end" (as you call them) toons.

http://www.thesteelwarrior.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13061&page=3

It is a warrior forum, however most info about how their "higher end" guilds work is there. If your guild has chanters bidding on AC upgrades, and melee foci, thats your problem ... well guilds problem. It's not the best way to help your guild. I'm personally all for casters that want HP heavy items.... AEs hurt everyone, but melee foci and such should goto melee/hydrids, not some chanter tht wants 10 more AC or 25 more hp. If said chanter gets summonned, he's most likely ginna get one-rounded anyways....

Guess I'm just rambling now... don't see why I have to prove my point, as you said, I'm obviously inferior to you cause I'm not in an Anguish guild ....

yea, every system but a pure dictator ship is useless if your looking at fair, where the guildleader decides who it has the biggest benefit too. But most guilds arent like that, most guilds use dkp, and if that chanter that would get one rounded wants to bid on it, and he shows up more than that warrior who could use it a lil bit more, then its doing the guild a service if the chanter wins.

From your first post. So let me get this straight. Belittling someone because they are not yet 70 is "perfectly adequate", but when I merely point out that your gear doesn't look like the gear of an experienced raider, it's "jumping down your throat?"

From the way it was posted originally, stating that ever since PoP melee's have been stealing caster loot.

It wasn't meant to be offensive, just pointing out that at 68 and talking about loots from Rikky and Kess doesnt exactly add up. In PoP, most all/all loot was upgrades to everyone at that time. I stil somewhat agree that melee/hybrid's will roll on some drops with spell effects, as some are still some of the better loots available ... although if something were to have cleave V or Fero V it would most likly be limited too Hybrid/melee classes, where as most FT gear (even though nice looking should be restricted by guild too hybrid/pure casters.

My point was to say, SoE has done a half decent job in throwing in gear restrictions, but there are times when guilds must step and restrict them a little more for the better of progression.

In my original message, like it or not, I guess I was more pointing out where the term 'lootwhore' comes from.

Yeah? These dragons are on farm status mostly for Anguish guilds. Let's talk about Anguish, shall we? As a caster I couldn't help but feel like there were more melee drops than casters. Your less-than-enlightening post inspired me to check it out. Most guilds do everything except OMM, as he generally considered to be bad risk vs. reward and is a very long fight. Also I'm going to leave out the tier 2 drops since they're all/all and 1 guaranteed drop per raid mob.

Keld: 5 melee, 2 caster, 2 all.
Jeld: 6 melee, 2 caster, 2 all.
Ture: 5 melee, 2 caster, 2 all.
Hanvar: 4 melee, 1 caster, 3 all.
AMV: 5 melee, 2 caster, 2 all.

Ok, so the drops are GROSSLY biased towards melees. But the augs most make up for it right? Guess again. 6 of them are oriented toward tanking or melee offense, only 1 looks caster oriented (it's mana heavy in case you're wondering), and the 4 are effects everyone can use like spell shielding or stun resist.

So let's review. Anguish has 25 melee gear drops, 9 caster drops, and 11 all/all drops. So to sum up.... casters can bid on anything they damn well please. Melees can complain as soon as they stop getting more drops than casters and all/all combined.

The point I was making is this. There is no need, to create loot restrictions, in an otherwise fair process of DKP bidding.

Most of the time, a caster would not bid on this, BECAUSE they have no use for cleave 5, and that effect will most likely be built into the item pricing.

However, if a caster wanted to go in on this, and won, they would get it, period! If a melee class wanted to prevent them from doing so, all they would have to do is have more current DKP and outbid them.

Besides, it's not like it won't drop again, they aren't that rare.

What all/all items are definitely caster items from DoN?

I checked, and the only other all/all items I could find were not clearly defined as one or the other (Yar'Lir ring and Ranged, Rikk belt) or more melee oriented (this neck, the rikk/kess mask).

Stop living back in the PoP era. This is DoN.
Very nice neck

I would gladly bid on this... most of our neck peices bite the big one. Plus it would give those silly tanks something to gripe about for the obviously caster items that SOE screwed up on and marked all/all that those tanks bid on.

No it's not a caster item, far from it, all the effects/focus's are for melee. Casters should get shielding and focus's like that because most go down way to quick.

Think you missed out on the pun... caster classes are totally screwed on PoP raiding... there is vitually no point in it. 2 pieces of gear drops. One for DPS, and one for casters. We casters get royally gyped because for some silly reason SOE made the caster drops most flagged all/all. What few there are, are not all that great of items, even from time (there are a couple to prove the rule wrong, but that is it, just a small handful.)

So there we are getting our ***** reamed becuase DPS classes bid on the obviously caster items just because it is marked all/all... with no care for the casters who need them for a ubba small upgrade on DPS types while huge for casters.

Now this neck has nice AC, especially for a neck. With GoD, OoW, as well as DoN mobs hitting so hard, AC is of upmost importance for all classes, not just DPS. I am glad SOE marked it all/all... I so can not wait to hear the gripes from the DPS classes when they complain about my bidding. Time for casters to get their AC up on obviously DPS gear... and DPS has 0 right to complain after PoP-OoW. We had our down streak for a long time, it about time SOE has corrected their mistake and made good DPS gear to be all/all. Hope they continue the streak with the next expansion, see how you DPS classes like it back.
