Considering that this ingredient is used in literally dozens of high-trivial baking recipes now, the forage rate seems way too rare to me.
Has anyone noticed if one particular zone produces more of these than Broodlands?

Agree wholeheartedly!
Here here! I have often complained that Baked Potatoes are one of the hardest things to make. The drop rate for course salt is almost as bad as the lack of willing groups to enter a LDoN for potatoes.

Gotten 4 or 5 on a single Creator mission in thundercrest before.
Please change the rarity of this item to uncommon (or even rare). I have never foraged one of these, and after countless DoN tasks, I've only seen 1 drop. I'd hardly call this a common drop.

Foraged at the zone line to lavasorm for two hours thisevening. got all kinds of nice things, but no coarse salt, which is what i was there for (of course). Either i did very bad on the random forwge table or it is not common. I forage yew leaves and dragon eggs with greater frequency. Forage is 200.
after 2 more hours, i can confirm that the salt is foraged in Broodlands. Got 2 in a total of 4 hours foraging. Alos, there doesnt seem to be any differance among the items. foraged a total of 16 differant items, and ended up with about 2 or 3 of each, with the exception of veggies (4) and pods of water (6)

I have foraged 30 different things in The Broodlands (in addition to the veggies, roots, fishing grub, water, etc). All of them seem to be used in some form of baking, brewing, or alchemy recipies.

Drops off some of the drake type mobs in Stillmoon.
