Bandolier

All this talk about warriors dual wielding two weapons rather than using 1H Slash + Shield is pretty pointless imo. I have a warrior and then reason that I never lose aggro on him is because he dual wields AND BASHES. It's REALLY simple...

1) - Set up a bandolier with the two 1H weapons that you want to dual wield. Name it "Main".
2) - Set up a bandolier with the 1H Slash + Shield that you want to use. Name it "Bash".
3) - Set up a hotbutton that says following:

Line #1 - /bandolier activate Bash
Line #2 - /pause 3
Line #3 - /do <Bash#>
Line #4 - /bandolier activate Main
for all you warriors

Stick a 30/35 ac aug on this. Yeah, I know it's tempting to slap it on your normal gear but it will go a lot further on a shield when you're tanking a big nasty. Also, get skin of reptile and sloth for buffs to maintain agro. Unless you are in an event with adds. In which case agro wont matter all that much cause the dps focus will be spread out. Drop the reptile completely, keep sloth on but drop sloth if an add sicks on ya. Also, don't use the rune aug on primary because you'll draw the attention of those adds.
Sheild Block

For all the wizards, necros, clerics, and enchanters posting here about how Furious Bash has 0 agro and warriors need to do more DPS, please uninstall your game right here. I'm a 75 paladin and I can tell you that Sheild Block 3 is amazingly great for damage mitigation. around 10% of shots thrown at you get blocked if you have a sheild and Sheild Block 3. When a warrior is tanking a mob that hits 7k damage, they need all the misses they can get. And for those of you who say that this makes warriors lose agro, Whenever my warrior friend tanks Matriarch Shyra, he never loses agro for a second while using a sheild, even with the crazy monk in my guild discing and wizards chain nuking for 20k. The fact is, sheilds are great for tanking.

Tank shields either have a good focus on them, or Furious Bash. Its a shame that those who have FB shields had to lose a focus effect since FB is still fubarred. fix FB already, been broke for ages, if you didnt already know this, look for something along the lines of "fix fb already" on any of the tank forums

the way the wizard commands the lightning element makes this sheild his right by proxy. To say that a monk is not entitled to the defenses of a warrior and a paladin is ludicrous. Plus this has a decent mana proc, which is cool.

is just retarded its like saying anything with a name of an element in it goes to a wizard.

as to
Quote:
To say that a monk is not entitled to the defenses of a warrior and a paladin is ludicrous
a monk shouldnt be getting hit. they wear light leather and are not meant to tank. they arent given the defensive aa's or gear or hp so where the **** are you getting those ideas in your tiny *** mind

and to
Quote:
unless the warrior has so many points he doesn't know what to do with them, he won't get this item
a warrior will get this item unless he doesnt want to spend his dkp on it, it was allowed to be used by 3 classes and is no less usefull to warriors as it is to sk/pal. also common courtesy doesnt apply to people doing end game raiding. common courtesy would be trying to be the best you can be to better the raid.

and for
Quote:
, FB does almost 0 extra agro
your right it itself doesnt create any extra aggro, it does increase the hate you do get when you do and not by just bit. im not saying using another 1hs weapon wouldnt create more aggro then fb7 especially(dont flame me for this) if you buy a crappy DoN merchant weapon. You can equip 2 hate augs in that as well as having a hate proc w/o aug and 2 in your 2.0 and you got 5 aggro procs.

Quote:
They're the ones with spells to hold agro, they're the ones with 1h weapons with ratios like 2h weapons
whats that have to do with anything, in high end raids you see sk/pal using their 2.0's unless off tanking adds AKA 2HS. that is because even though the 1hand ratios are good they dont get half as much dps due to dmg bonus and they only get a 2:1 rato at best where as 2.0 have almost a 3:1 ratio.

Quote:
But the loss of raid DPS just so a warrior can live an extra 15 seconds after the disc drops...sucks
having the MT live long enough to switch out to a fresh tank means weather the raid lives or dies. also in that 15 seconds it will make up the dps because if everyone is being schmobbed on it means you have no dps.

plus the shielding ac and no ripostes/more hp/stun resist and avoidiance and when you look at high end people they dont put hate augs in their 1hs weapons they put hp/ac augs in it- ie breakdown in comm aug and put a hate aug in other slot.

I love how people who don't know what they're talking about always post here. Fact of the matter is this, in most cases, unless the warrior has so many points he doesn't know what to do with them, he won't get this item. Also in most cases a guild warrior will abstain from getting this item untill all the active knights have one out of common curtiousy because they are the classes who really can use this. They're the ones with spells to hold agro, they're the ones with 1h weapons with ratios like 2h weapons. And FYI, FB does almost 0 extra agro. Pretend like it doesn't exist, because it practically doesn't. Now some guilds have warriors who probably do use a shield to tank....and I know from experience that SB3 is...insane... But the loss of raid DPS just so a warrior can live an extra 15 seconds after the disc drops...sucks. That means no chain nuking wizards, no chain doting necros, monks need to watch themselves, etc etc. I would rather just have anouther tank step up and /disc the boss and switch your CH chain over to him than give up that DPS. Get a warrior in there with a bbb and an epic 2.0 with hate augs and let em get all the hate they can handle!

Heh, with a warrior 2.0 weapon, or even 1.5 a warrior can use the shield, but... needs to have a huge aggro lead before swapping to it. Solution... Furios at start of encounter while duel wielding (gigantic aggro created). Swap to shield after it drops. Raid doesn't lose dps. Shield's help warriors with the proper aa who already have high AC. Get about ~8 percent more mitigation using a shield then without. So can help somone live longer by minutes in cases where tank was borderline to live before.

If a warrior can't hold aggro for quite a while... Warrior doing something wrong. Yes with raid going full dps.

As for the rest of your statements, like courtesy to knights... it depends on what your guilds aim is. To better members as groupers or increase of raid utility. Small increases in performance on a main taunt can make huge differences in a raid environment.

Before ridiculing others, should think about throwing stones at someone else, when you yourself live in a glass house.

Opinions can vary,

#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 23 2005 at 11:56 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) furious bash also adds to spell hate, and when you proc anger increasing weapons, furious bash is going to add to that anger- which is why warriors would want it, and shielding mods roxxorz my boxxorz
proc...?
# Jan 20 2005 at 3:53 AM Rating: Default
Furious Bash is not a proc, its a focus affect. It adds to the hate generated by each Shield Bash. Therefore being better for a knight than a warrior who tends to use 2 hate generating weapons rather than 1h and shield.

# Feb 21 2005 at 12:44 PM Rating: Default
This proc is better for a warr than a knight class in one way -----If you are a knight class and you are losing aggro you suck and should just quit playing. But in either case this shield kicks ***
RE: proc...?
# Jan 20 2005 at 6:34 AM Rating: Default
The above statement is in fact correct, but in many raid situations where riposte can eat you alive, warriors also drop 2w and throw on a shield like this - pair it with warrior epic 2.0 and you are golden. But all in all Knights do have more use for a shield.

...pfft yah right only reason high end warriors use a shield is to pad magelo stats..
RE: proc...?
# Feb 01 2005 at 7:27 PM Rating: Default
It's not common, even of the insanely hard mobs, but warriors will sometimes use a shield. It's even better now with shield block. Thought yeah, normally a warrior would have a shield to look cooler on magelo. =\

i agree most warriors dont use shields .. but the reason for that is hate procing weapons .... now if they are gettign there rear ends handed to them they will throw on a shiled for the stats for more hp and ac especially this shield ... and the furious bash is there to help them hold the agro they would have lost due to one less agro weapon .... i dont have this shield but i do have a shield with furious bash on it and if swapped them out before in a rough situation .... it may be better on a knight ... but do you want your knight taking agro? especially in insane mob situations

If a war is in a position to get this, they will be able to hold agro perfectly fine with 1 weapon. A shield like this just cements its usefullness as a replacement for dual weilding.

i get tickled when i see all this talk about warriors either DW'ing or using a shield, but not both at the same time. I play a warrior, although my main is a paladin, and have bashed my way through every fight since lvl 6 and DW every fight since it was a option (lvl 10?). It's tons of work having to toggle in a shield for a bash (just pretend he's a bard and the shield is a instrument and you'll get the right idea). BUT i get that added bash/stun plus the chance to interrupt if they are a caster, and then throw in on top of it, my warrior has carried a zek crested buckler since lvl 1 which has the furious bash focus effect and having a 20% hate modifer go off every few seconds during a fight is incredible.

I've been asked if it messes up the damage output from the DW'ing and i've never seen any drop off as the whole process to change to the shield, bash, and change out happens in less than a 1 second. I've got my bash/taunt/disarm all on one hotkey, which gets spammed throughout every single fight. My shield sits on my pointer over the top of my secondary slot that has been moved to the hotkey bar. The time it takes to swap in the shield, get the bash, swap back in the secondary weapon is the time it takes you to double click your mouse. As a timming reference,I also have my actually bash button on my hotkey bar. But enough lvl's swapping in the shield and the timming becomes second nature.

normally it happens so fast most people never realize your bashing. What it actually looks like in full speed is that your bashing with whatever weapon is in you secondary slot, but most people will never see the shield unless they happen to be watching you REALLY close. And even then they'll think it's a glitch, as they don't think warriors can DW and bash with a shield at the same time.
RE: proc...?

main purpose of a tank is to keep agro. you dont keep agro with a 1hander+shield on a warrior, shields are just way too slow. agro is generated fast by dual wielding procs from fast weapons, not slow shields. Putting a shield on a warrior defeats their purpose of being the main tank or being dps.

Furious Bash is still broken anyway and has 0aggro

I play a warrior, I tank stuff like this guy, and I use a shield all the time. Shield Block is quite helpful when you're fighting something that hits for 6k.

And I keep aggro just fine, thanks.

With every warrior in my guild, we have no problem holding agro with any combination of weapons or shield. I don't know how many times I read these threads and see the same crap over and over.
If your guild is solid and in tune, then even if another class is capable of taking agro, they don't......................

In the high end, a shield helps keep the tank alive alot better than dw, of course i'm talking from an over 800 aa situation and used to be hit by mobs that break the 6k damage barrier.

heartily agree with the fact that the only ones who don't think this shield would be awesome for warriors, is people who arent warriors.

At this level, you hold aggro just fine - your guildy's know how not to over aggro, and if i can halve the chance of a 6k riposte by putting up a shield and swinging less - then im adding to the healers mana pool. Im still working towards shield block aa, so i cant comment on just how effective that is

RE: proc...?
# Sep 25 2007 at 2:19 PM Rating: Decent
Amen my friend the Shield benefits are overwhelming to a tank on a High Hitting / Riposting MOB. That is the perfect scenario for sawitching to Shield Tanking.
Warriors should develop a good knowledge of the Various Tanking scenarios and determine whether mobs are High or Low DI:DB Ratio mobs.

Shielding / AC / Avoidance Means less hits and those that do hit saves precious HP by hitting for less.

Defensive is great for a Mob that has A Huge DI: DB ratio.

But what about those with a Minimal DI : DB ratio or riposte Scenario MoBS You'll need something more to stand up to these mobs. That's where AC/ Shielding / Avoidance Comes in handy. (Thus Evasive) this is where you say ***** it and Pull all guns out including shield tanking.

Nice for high lvl raider tank
