Honestly Can't Tell
# May 06 2001 at 4:17 PM Rating: Default
Lookin for opinions from those who have this and other high-end weaps. I'm 56 Tank, and use Lammy in primary. I have recently acquired CSS, another Lammy, and Bloodfire. With my RBG and chanter haste, obviously I use the Lammy in primary, simply because of the speed, but I can't for the life of me tell the difference in taunt factor between the other weaps used in the offhand. My dex is still under 100, so the Bloodfire doesnt proc that often in my offhand, unless we got a shammy in the group for a dex buff. And the proc (blood boil) is not nearly the taunt I expected it to be. The CSS hits the hardest in the offhand, but we're only talkin a few dmg points. And the Lammy is the quickest in the off. Was just wonderin what some other 55+ tanks think. Been askin friends in the game, and of course get a different opinion with each.

Thanks,
Mac

if i were you, i am a 53 warrior, i would duel weild the lamenations. that is always a killer combo. but do not get rid of the CSS if you are not the main tank use it for more dmg. and save the bloodfire as well, you can always get a "boon of the garu" to boost the dex, and with the boon you also get eh lifetap. so its up to you to decide what to use but for main tanking and pulling off of caster i would use the 2 lammys for a better taunt.

About Weapons
# Apr 30 2001 at 3:42 PM Rating: Good
Thus far, in reading the posts on this weapon and weapons in general, I have come to a few conclusions.

1. As to whether or not a specific weapon is "good" is solely dependent on personal preference. I believe this blade is better than a Lamentation. (Personal opinion)

2. From using a Wurmslayer/SSoY combo (total weight around 19 or 20) to using a couple of daggers (total weight around 4) for skilling up in piercing, I can tell you that weight DOES make a difference in dual wielding. Using the WS/YK combo almost completely depletes my stamina bar in a couple of successive fights. Using the daggers, my stamina bar hardly moves at all.

3. It is my personal opinion that anyone that can use the item, should be able to roll on it, unless they either already have one and it's lore, or if they have already won something in that group. When you group up with people and you're going after loot, establish the looting rules BEFORE you go in. This will decrease the chances of anyone getting shafted.

4. (This comment especially applies to Warriors, but really, any melee class)

Try to keep all of your weapons skills at a somewhat decent level. Nothing stinks worse than a Tank who can only use 1HS. There are a lot of different weapons out there and many situations which call for different weapons (sometimes disciplines for the proper stats). For instance, I went on a Faydedar raid with a friend and everyone got creamed.
Why? Because Faydedar has a very good damage shield which annihilated the melees because they were using very low delay weapons. In this case, a 2HS that does comparable damage to dual wielded weapons is probably preferable. You do the same amount of damage in very close to the same amount of time, with more health left. I.E. YOU STAY ALIVE TO KEEP THE MOB OFF YOUR HEALERS!!

5. If you're sole criteria for the effectiveness of a weapon is based upon the weapon's damage to delay ratio, find a game with not so many variables. An SSOY, if used with high dexterity, can outdamage other weapons with better ratios by far. Similarly, there are many weapons that are considered to be inferior to a Wurmslayer, which actually do more damage.
How can this be? A Wurmslayer has it's downsides: high delay (adjustable by haste items), high weight. The high delay can be offset, to a degree, with good haste items or buffs. However, the same haste items would have the same effect on much lower delay items in raising their ratios. The high weight can be offset by Invigor, Extinguish Fatigue, more Stamina items, etc.

When all is said and done, the effectiveness of a character is based on two things: the wisdom and skill of the person playing them, and equipment the person knows how to use.

If you wish to discuss this subject further, please do not do so in this forum, as this is specifically for the weapon. Please either post in the class/race forums, or E-mail me (please do not send attachments as I will not open the e-mail).

I know that bards cannot use Wurmslayers. I was using a friend's 49 warrior. Also, sorry Illia for not logging in first =(

Hmmm..

I understand that Rogues and Bards can't take many hits but this weapon doesn't taunt in the least. My willsapper and bloodpoint are taunting weapons (which I never use anymore since I found this out) because of the proc, doing mass damage rarely causes aggro on yourself (unless you backstab than thats almost like auto-taunt). This is probably one of the best offhand slashing weapons in the game for a rogue, the only exception I can think off hand is an Edge of the Nightwalker but good luck getting one of those puppys
Nit-Picking over who gets a weapon

Frankly, not all of us are DW Lam's, and if I camp this spot when i'm lvl 50, I'm not gonna let it drop and say "ok, well a bard or rogue get it, i'm not rolling" That's crap. If you can use the weapon, and it's better than what you have, you should be able to roll for it. Granted, if the people i'm grouped with have, say, a Rusty Rapier, I'm gonna let them have it, but other than that, it's fair game, and it's really annoying how some people just jump out and say it's a so and so class item, and only let them have it, if that was the case, only that class would be listed :P anyways, good luck getting one.

What Wt who cares

When you are a ranger Wt doesn't matter we are eqiuped to handle every siutation. We have invigor making this a perfect combo with a Lamedation this is one of the better off hands in the game and the dmh del ration is great so if you are a Ranger this is weaopn for you even Warriors love it. Rogues and Bards stick with your perices you guys can't take dmg and this is to good a taunter
Save it for appropriate classes

Save this weapon for appropriate classes. This one drops off the necrosis scarab in sebilis and is very heavy compared to a lamentation. This one should only be used by a bard or a rogue who cant find a decent piercer for his offhand.

Warriors and rangers can use lamentation and it's the same camp spot so please let bards and rogue have this one, makes no sense for a war to use a weapon that weighs 4.5 when a lamentation and green jade broadsword are both way lower in weight.

FYI this weapon is better then a lamentation in the off hand. It has better damage/delay ratio.

Also, weight is not an issue for any warrior with stamina above 120 or so. Since there is not a lot of good +sta gear for rogues and bards, this is less 'appropriate' for those classes, if you are factoring in weight.

No offense but umm sometimes people need to just take what drops...if they are gonna use it, they get a chance at it. Not all are gonna snag a lammy in the first camp, weight doesn't bug my warrior at all, and it is better ratio for the offhand. Flat out it's not about who can use it better (just cuz war and rng can use lammy doesn't mean they aren't gonna use this, that's like saying that if your given patchwork armor as a newbie your not gonna wear it and just wait for banded or bronze to show up, upgrade to upgrade peoples)it's about who's gonna actually use it.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 28 2001 at 8:58 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) WHO THE HELL CARES WHAT THE WEIGHT ITS!? I am a 54 warrior darkelf with 160 str.. and at all time I usually have 120/150. Now being a warrior witht he most base starting strengh it makes perfect sense for a warrior to take it. I would rather have this then take the lam considering this is a much better weapon for a much lower price. Just my two sense in this topic.. no to affend anyone on their oppinion *cough cough* Stupid Barbarians.
