Using the pet "Lost Soul" I saw normal hits jump from 93 max to 107 max.
Trouble With Weapons
# Jan 16 2006 at 5:19 AM Rating: Decent
I bought Orb of Swarming Darkness before I looted this and had trouble occasionally with my pet not equipping his weapons. When this dropped and I was the only class in the group that could use it I looted in hopes that it might fix the problem. My pet summoned with this also had problems equipping his weapons on occasion, but there is an easy fix. After summoning the pet make sure the first thing you give him is weapons. I found if I gave him plate or anything else first, he wouldn't equip or proc the weapons. If I give mask and belt at the same time as weapons it's fine, as long as they are the first 4 items given.

Pets after level 60 are summoned with a set of full plate already on them. It was in an update over a year ago. This might be the problem. All your pets should need are a mask, belt and weapons.

I just got this item to replace my LDoN focus aug and it bumped up my pets max hits to around 119, and was doing backstabs for about 360. I haven't tried it with any of the other pets yet, but will be testing with the air pet soon.

The change you mentioned ONLY applies to 60+ FOCUSED Mage pets...not all 60+ pets.

- 60+ focused mage pets are now summoned with a full set of phantom plate equipped

the item it seems is intended strictly for classes born with pets that are meant for dps - bst, necro, mage, - these classes are innately born with pets for their damage output , umm sk pet /cough ... enchanter innate pet .. k w/e ...nice to know that you only need use the thing when summoning pet cuz god knows I'm not dropping my horn of doomcalling to wear this .
Where's da SK's?

Effect

I have a quick question about the effect. Do you have to constantly wear the item for it to affect the pet, or just have it on when your pet is summoned like the Summoner's Boon effect?

I won this item with my Bst tonight. Tested it out you only need to have it equipped when you make your pet.

This is for the pet using classes, although, technically mages would need pets. . . bsts and necros can do fine on their own, provided there're some variables in their favor. i.e. bsts: slowable mob that hits gimp damage, necs: snarable/fearable mob, or undead.. but all pet classes would still use pets given the opportunity and the timing to..

" technically mages would need pets"

Thats not true, at level 66 I was on par in dps with the lvl 66 Wizard, both similar levels of AA's and that was without my pet and wasnt counting the dps my DS was going on the tank.

Enchanter pet WAY outdoes the bear pet.

The chanter pet can actually tank something for a few seconds, the bear pet barely slows the mob down more than a cleric hammer.

the bear pet has maybe 500 hps, making it good for farming spider silk and picking up women in the park.

Druid bear is Level 35 if memory serves.

Its only got about 1dps against high level mobs. That is, it hits for 0-5pts every 5 seconds.
No ENC?

What, no enchanters on here? They have pets too!
