I can confirm there are two different species of honeycomb. They use the same icon graphic. I have a jpeg comparing the two but don't know how to upload it here. It is the "tiny" unstackable version that is used for the quest "The Cigar". I did some hunting today for both kinds. In Stone Hive, the stackable version drops from the following mobs.
a bixie advisor
a bixie commander
a bixie harvester
a botanical expert
a botanical researcher
a council historian
a council notekeeper
a cultivator drone
a honeyblaster
a royal bodyguard
a royal councilmember
a warpriestess
an alchemy assistant

There are two (2) different types of Honeycomb. This listing has the sources lumped together.
The above TINY honeycomb (weight 0.1) drops from old school bixies in Commonlands and Misty Thicket -- these are not stackable.
All of the bixie-model mobs listed here for Stone Hive drop the SMALL Honeycomb (weight 0.5) -- these stack to 20.

In Misty Thicket at the northern most tower on the wall (the tower with Deputy Felp in it) on top of the tower two bixie Spawn points are there. (spawns bixies, bixie drones, and "a bixie queen") drops normal bixie drops, while honeycombs are a drop, it is very ucommon to get one. this is the best place for low levels to get the honeycombs. (my lvl 8 cleric 1 hit kills them with Furor)
took me forever to find the spot all I got from posts were "they fall on you" and "they fall from the sky" when they come from the top of the tower.

The bixies, bixie drones, and queen bixie at the tower (along the northern part of the wall) in Misty Thicket does not drop honeycomb (but does drop bixie wings).
I just got two honeycombs about twenty two minutes ago.

Where can i find honeycomb
They drop off Bixies which can be found in numerous areas around antonica, i have seen lots in EC and they drop the honeycomb about 1 out of 4 kills.
