I just bought this from a guy who did not need it anymor and I got a really good deal, its awsome i cant live with out it I went from lvl 13 (when I bought it) to lvl 17 in just a few hours :o) u all have to get 1 of these...Oh and to the fool who wanted me to trade this for a centi long sword (I laught at him :O)
RE: woot
# Aug 24 2002 at 6:34 AM Rating: Default
seen this go for 500pp, centi longsword for roughly 2000 still, on mith marr.
claws are main hand only, which makes them rather limited, while centi longsword can (and most likely) will go in off hand, in whixh ratio is more important then speed, and the stats on it does not hurt either. so ,i say you got screwed with your deal, but that's just my opninion.P

More specifically off of the Sebilite Guardian. Easiest camp to get to, but also the hardest to get in because it's always taken.

Forget about the minor stats that the lamentation has, 10/21 roxxors 9/19... I traded a pair of kylong greaves and a kerlorek'dar spine razor for one of these weapons on prexus..

i wish people would stop posting these rubbish calculations and confusing the new players who come here for real information.

The formula's for damage calculation of weapons are well known now, and the following is the case;

Strength affects damage as a multiplier....it is not "added" and therefore benefits all weapons proportionally.

The level based damage bonus is added AFTER after all base damage/weapon skill/strength calculations have been done. It is NOT added to base damage.

It is always the same for 1 handed weapons no matter what they're damage or delay. The only benefit with a faster weapon is that this fixed bonus is being applied at the faster rate i.e. 1.9 seconds for a lammy, 2.1 for the claws.

The fact is these 2 weapons are so close in damage output to make it not an issue. The lammy has the extra stats which make it more beneficial overall, but every second warrior i see has a lammy, so using these will make you stand out a little more, with very little downside.

10/21 doesnt "roxxor" 9/19. Unless you are a low level newbie, its actually quite a bit worse. As tomstrife points out, you have to consider the level bonus as well. Additionally, you must look at the impact of high strength on the max damage of the weapon.

For every 20 strength you add, you get the equivalent of 1 weapon damage (2 pts actual damage) added to the weapon, beginning with a base of 75 str.

Looking at a lvl 50 warrior, with 255 str (not unlikely, buffed), you get a level based 8 damage bonus, and strength based damage increase equal to a 9 bonus.

(8+9+10)/21 = 27/21 = 1.285
(8+9+9)/19 = 26/19 = 1.368

The one damage becomes almost irrelevant at this level, while the 2 delay is huge.

sigh...
understand this...
this wep
10/22
lammy
9/19...

level 29 or so you get DMG bonus +1

11/22
or 10/19... which is better now?
which hits more = more taunt?
RE: this > lammy

Actually...
more damage doesn't always = more aggro
for a Rogue who is in a group. Yes Evade works, but not all the time. That's why there are high damage high delay weaps for Rogues. I can go a full fight without having to Evade because the tank is hitting faster than me but I am also hitting for more. if your Taunt is VERY good you prolly wont have to worry about this. If it isn't good, you want the faster weap for the aggro. Just my 2 cents.
RE: this > lammy
# Nov 12 2001 at 5:39 PM Rating: Default
How exactly did you come to this conclusion? The ratio is worse, the delay is worse, and it has no stats.
RE: this > lammy
# Nov 28 2001 at 5:13 PM Rating: Default
umm this ratios is Better than Lammy
10/21 = 0,476190
9/19 = 0,473684

I don't know about you, but 0.47619 dmg per delay seems better than 0.47368 to me.
Could be wrong though, I'm really, really stupid.
RE: this > lammy
# Dec 26 2001 at 6:34 PM Rating: Default
Your doing your math backwards, you divide the delay my the damage.. Giving this one a ratio of 2.1 and the lammy 2.11 and the lower the ratio the better the weapon... means this beats lammy only barley...

Example: Sword#1 10damage 20 delay yeilds a ratio of 2.0

Sword#2 is 20damage 10delay wich is a ratio of 0.5

which would you rather have?

Yeah when I'm looking at my damage output and considering new weapons I factor in bonuses and then determine damage per delay. Really useful, especially when comparing 2 1handers to a 2hander. Calc it all up assuming a reasonable dual wield rate and you know the dmg output.

So when I look at my etched steel baton, 14/28, I think of that as 14 base damage. I calc the bonuses and additional damage and come up with a projected damage per delay, or the equivalent of one tenth of my DPS before procs and secondary attacks.
RE: this > lammy
# Jan 19 2002 at 10:34 AM Rating: Decent
hmmm
sword #1= 10/20
sword #2= 10/15

#1= 0.5 dmg per delay
#2= 0.666... dmg per delay

0.666 > 0.5
dunno, it's just my way of comparing weaps.

Some of you people really need to take some fundamental math courses.

Damage divided by Delay yields amount of damage per one delay point. The higher the result the better.

Going reverse, Delay divided by Damage yields length of time to do one damage point. The lower the number the better.

So ratio-wise, Spined Dragon beats Lamentation.

stats
# Apr 22 2001 at 7:03 AM Rating: Default
around the same dmg/dly as lamantation, but no extra stats, therefore thing should probably only be worth about 4-5k or so, CoT is 11/25 and is less than 2k now on mith marr.
