This wepons sells today for about 1k.
A nice items to farm faction/loot of greens after 40 when it start procing, however I strongly caution to be areful using this in real combat at 40+ as AOE may draw in unwanted mobs.
The Sword Of Skyfire...
# Jan 17 2002 at 4:20 PM Rating: Default
This sword is actually pretty good. With a ratio of 10/22, combined with the extra health and the low weight... this weapon is decently good. Having that little bit of charsima, and the 15+ save against cold (A lot of things use cold based DD attacks), this sword has many benefits.

As of now, my 38 Paladin is using one, it hits decently fast and ranges anywhere from 1-32 on each hit. Sorry to say, I am far from having "Uber" stats, so I can't hit that well, although combining this with a FBSS and a nice chunk of strength, well, you've got yourself a nice little combination here.

About the proc: I'm not sure if it has been fixed or not, many say it has, others say it hasn't. Hell, even the GM's that I asked didn't know for sure, but claimed "I think I may have heard something about a patch fixing it a while ago."

Seeings how I am only level 38, I can't test it for myself, but as of now this sword is prety good, although since I am usually the main tank and can only bare one weapon, I am looking to trade back for a Wurmslayer ( I originally traded my Wurmslayer for this sword about 6 levels ago.)

Uh... well, there was some pointless information given, congratulations on reading through it... or something.
Question about Warriors
# Jan 09 2002 at 5:39 AM Rating: Default
I have a question concerning what a fellow warrior would use.

Currantly i have a Centi Shortsword and Sword of Skyfire, but my friend has offered me a Wakashi of the Frozen Skies (or however its spelt) for 500pp and was wondering what i should do. I could sell some stuff and save up for a Centi Longsword as well, but was wondering what i should use in my offhand, any help would be a great help, thanks
RE: Question about Warriors
# Apr 09 2002 at 1:01 PM Rating: Default
warrior here speaking dont listen to the ranja a warrior is more effective in keeping aggro by using low delay weapons it is true that you will get aggro if you hit for max dmg but we all know that hitting for max dmg on a red mob is hard so landing low dmg attacks seems to keep the mob on you i speak on facts since i tested the theory my self using 4 weapons

lammy
short sword of skyfire
wurmmy
centi ls

the ceni was alwasy my off hand then i switch between weapons on my primary and i had aggro on me more witht he low delay weapons than with the wurmmy.

now some peeps out there like to play the warrior class different ways my way is that warrior is there to keep aggro on him and to take hits, also my point of view is that the warrior class is not a dmg dealer thats why we have monks rouges and ranjas to dish out dmg wile the mob is glued on us cause we hitting it for 20 dmg but fast as speedy gonzales. some other peeps like to have a warrior that can dish out lots of dmg others like to have what they call a procing warrior with like 130 dex so he can proc all his weapons others like the hi agi ac warrior so they dont get hit much (wich is good ) if you all about keeping aggro on you keep this weapon for the low delay but if you not ma and like to dish out dmg go with wurmmy or you could als try a 2hs weapon you get a bonus if the delay is past 40

hope this helps
RE: Question about Warriors
# Jan 20 2002 at 8:55 PM Rating: Decent
Well, i'm no warrior, but i think i can help you with this. Being a ranger and sometimes a main tank, i came up with my tanking setup. Now since i don't know how much cash you have, or the prices on your server this might be useless, but i was tanking with a wurmy and sarnak skull splitter. So to save yourself some cash, you could keep the centi SS and sell the sword of skyfire, and get a wurmy. That way, you hit with your primary for 50+ and secondary for 25+(being a war you should have 100+ str i hope). Now this is just a suggestion, it might not work for you, but it seemed to for me :). Although through coming events my weapons changed to SoS in primary and centi LS in offhand(but im a damage dealer).

p.s. considering all the weapons i have, some would think i have a rich char, and that is far from the truth. i've just had strange luck with desperate people trading :)

You sit in EC long enough
# Dec 29 2001 at 1:42 AM Rating: Decent
You sit in the East Commons long enough and you are going to be twinked. Most people don't have the patience while I had time to kill. People with no patience you can buy from at a great price. You turn around to sell it to people with money and patience.

With playing EQ, whether it is waiting for the cleric to med, soling cats in LOIO because you only have Fear Animal and Snare to selling in EC, if you have patience, you will win. Without a doubt, everytime.

After three weeks of upgrading my banded armour to the best mixture of Ivy Etched and Ry'gorr Armour for a Ranger (by getting Centi Warhammers at a great deal and turning around to sell them for what they are worth among other things), I easily upgraded my weapons and I really did not plan to.

I went from Short Sword of Morin + Crystal Fiber to Blackened Alloy Longsword + CF to Icepaw War Claw + BAL to IWC + Velium Warsword to Sword of Skyfire + VW. I did all of this, armour and weapon upgrades within the level of 29 (I never fought those three weeks because there was nothing to fight in EC, WC, NRo, Oasis and SRo).

Only the Crystal Fiber and Blackened Alloy Longsword were given to me by guild members and in turn I will give those to other members in the guild (in addition to a Crystal Grinder that I used to master my piercing skill).

I know that this weapon will not proc from me but 10/22 is way too psycho of a ratio not to wield this weapon.

With having a Ghoulbane in my possession and being on at the right time, I got probably the best deal ever (even more so then getting a Centi Warhammer for 300pp).

Lol, i kno, i am one of those people without patience, i prefer going out and killing a whole lotta monstersinstead of sitting on my butt unless i need to buy/sell something really bad
my warrior has this, he bought it for 600pp from an enchanter in GFay, and he was lvl 19 so i'm not crazy enough not to use this as both swords he was using were inferior to this beast )

I am a lvl 53 Warrior on Vazaelle.
I use this along with my Club of the Ice Ocean, FBSS, and Eye Patch of Plunder. Proc? Oh Yes,
It was very frustrating learning how to use this wep as the AoE (NO THIS WAS NEVER PATCHED!) will do damage to you as well as any Innocent by stander NPC's. Oops. /shout "need SoW for CR please." With my fire resistance only at 45, It can hurt. The trick is this:
1: get your fire resist up and or
2: As was stated earlier, stay just out of range of the proc. Yes it can be done. If you back up little by little so that you are outa range to disarm, you will still be in-range for your weps. I solo Frost Giants and Wolfs in GD without ever getting hit by the proc. With 3 waves of 56dmg from the SoSF proc and 149dmg proc from my club along with crit 50's+ from both weps. This thing Rocks.
Disclaimer; (DANGER! If not used by properly trained personnel, can break mez.)
Best thing is you can get one of these cheap since most peps don't take the time to learn how to use it. I got mine for free from a friend who hated it.

i dont know about you all, but enchanters/bards are not always in groups. They are HIGHLY sought after in groups with nukers. But when you got a group with 2 greater healers already (level 45 and below mobs), or better, 3 greater healers, and hunting in open area (not dungeon). They become just mana boosters, and speed yer swings :). Just sitting through fights and casting speed and clarity once in a while (go bard you clarifying/str buffing/speed hasting/group healing/and meleeing class).Actually i love bards/enchanters. A group that kills things so fast, that doesnt go OOM, doesnt need enchanters... assuming that tanks know how to balance damage throughout group and not just one. Point, break mezz? so what? if its rooted. At these levels regens will take care of the self procs. A paladin played right will solo adds, stunning bashing/rooting it till it is rooted (announcing to group of course). This strategy to all those groups who have had multiple mages/wizards/necros that said those words all at the same time "OOM!". At least melees have enough hp for a cleric to cast complete healing... i cant say the same for the nukers. I know i didn't even have enough to put in just a greater healing once a ravishing drolvarg got on a wiz, thats 4 seconds cast time btw. Im sure these strategies wont work on high level mobs... (level 50 and higher)

So for my favorite all melee type groups... i root adds. If wizard/mage/cleric/paladin/druid/ there good, he can help root. I guess i'm on my way to buying fire resist gear now.

still using it at 51...
# Dec 01 2001 at 11:49 AM Rating: Decent
still use this sword at 51, while it may not have the STR and STA stats of other good one hand slashers..it does have 25hp and good cold resist... and is fast..only slightly slower then a lammy... for one more damage... i use this sword, while soloing, cause during a group or raid..with either bard to chanter... the proc, which is a blessing as much as it is a curse... breaks mez... the sword procs so much for me that before the first proc is over it has already proced again....instead of 3 rounds of 56 damage... i get more like... 6 and sometimes even 9 rounds.... i mostly resist the spell, but the highest damage i took from the weapon was 35...the mobs dont resist every round but on higher level dungeons resist the proc.. having alot of HPs...35hp doesnt matter a bit. though the rain fire spell likes to cause lag =)

I just got this blade from a trade in EC a couple of days ago. I like the dmg/dly on it. And I dish out up to 39dmg each swing. However the effect is kind of lame I think.. uuhm an AoE spell on a meele weapon. Thats like giving a mana drain item to a cleric.
Verant sure has to rethink some of their ideas.

I currently wield this and a lammy at level 43, but Will replace this when It starts to proc at 45. Im currently camping the iksar berserker club :D

Man you have an imagination! And it was told to such exquisite creativity by combining your knowledge of Everquests stats and in the fantasy world itself and well, making sense out of it.

Can I test your skills with the swords that proc Avatar? hehe
If not, I'd like to see what you can do with the Arbitors Combine Greatsword story.

No, not really.

The Sword of Skyfire, was made from a piece of meteorite that fell through the sky and landed near a skilled Iksar smith, waking him up from his sleep and damn near blew up his stone house.(this was during the time when Iksars still inhabited Old Seb).
By the time it got cool enough to be approached, the remaining ore was a little than a softly glowing orange lump of metal. The ore had enormous ability to with stand and contain heat, and yet had magnetic properties despite that. That prevented him from working the ore, as with each strike of his hammer, he and his assistant would spend another minute trying to separate the ore from the smithing hammer.

Then an idea dawned upon the Iksar smith, he set about forging a sword, elegant, yet razor sharp made of tempered steel. Then he and his assistant set about trying to melt down the ore. For 20days and 20nigths, he and his apprentice took turns feeding the fire, slowly but surely melting the ore with intense heat, while a few Iksar monks gathered round, chanting words of speed and doctrines of alarcity.

On the 21st day, the ore was as liquid as blood, and the smith knew this would be the time. He held the fine sword over the liquified ore, and to his expectation, the super charged molecules of the ore broke free from it's liquid bonds and through magnetic attraction attached itself to the steel blade of the sword, and upon touching the surface of the sword, it transfered it's latent heat energy to the weapon, and thus was borne the Sword of Skyfire!

It was due to the weapon's inate ability to generate heat that gave it's weilder protection from cold(+15CR), and it was the liturgies of the quick and deadly monks whoose chants lent the weapon it's speed, and the smiths enduring persistance that gave the sword and its bearer a fraction of that endurance (+25HP). The elegant craftsmanship made all that saw the bearer of the sword look upon him/her with awe and respect(+5CHA).

But there was a downside to this fine weapon, because of the lack of Iksar enchanters and wizard to bind the essences of the Skyfire ore to the sword, it's energies are unadulterated and do not discriminate from the friend or foe, and spewing forth a fraction of the tumultous fires that went into the forging of the weapon to all around when the weapon was agitated enough(the Proc). Also, due to the magnetic polarity of the Skyfire iron, no 2 swords could ever be used together for they would repel each other (LORE).

Thus ends the story of the Sword Of Skyfire.

I read all about this great "patch" that came out and "fixed" this sword. So I went out and picked up the first one I saw for sale. I guess somewhere along the line I never got the patch. I just dumped this POS of after doing more damage to myself then to many of the mobs I was fighting with a fire resist of 69. In one night, three times I took over 100 points damage and the mob took under 30.
but its soo fast!

Now i'm only a lvl 31 ranger, so maybe i still have a lot to learn, but this sword seems to be great for anyone under lvl 45. I use this sword and a weighted velium battlehammer(both 22 dly)and there arent many in my grps who deal as much damage in the long run. When i hit 45 I plan to get rid of it unless for some reason the "so called patch" I keep hearing about is a reality. I seem to hear both sides all the time, even from you guys, hehe. so someone please give us the scoop!!!
