This skin drops from a named Lioness (Swiftclaw), not a Lion. Still no idea what it is for probably was the NPC in Kith and broken by the war.

The "this item is used in quests" must be a default setting because there are many items in the data base that have absolutely no use. This is one of them. I don't remember if vendors will even buy it.

Approximately 2-3 years ago (uh-oh,tellin my EQ age) there was a quest or recipe that involved collecting 1 superb lion skin and 1 superb bear skin to make a weight reduction bag. At the time it was a mage in our guild that was doing it so I don't recall any details beyond that. Hope this helps out a bit though for you aggressive researchers.

I just killed a lion in North Karana named Swiftpaw, it dropped a superb lion skin. It was right by the guard tower and was green to me at 22.

Get all three and do what? The quest is not listed here, and neither is the crafted item(s).

This is pure speculation, but a guy in Kithicor makes stuff out of HQ Bear, Lion, and Wolf skin (I think) He also says something about being able to make his best with better materials. I'm guessing this is what they're for.
