Giant Ukun

He looks like a huge Ukun and has several smaller ones around him. I found him near -858, 1125. He attacked and I killed him as I had no invis potions on me. BUT the ore was on the ground at that LOC. I presume it was from when he spawned. Also there were none on the ground at the other spots before I started to get messages from the bloody stone. Lastly took a good 30 minutes to get the messages. Good hunting!
Patience is key

Unlike the previous poster or the maps from mapfiend suggest, I couldn't find the ore as a ground spawn. However, after waiting with the energy receptor on my cursor for over 15 minutes, thinking the quest was broken, I suddenly started getting directions to the Blackfall Borer. It reminds me of the test of patience from the Shaman epic. Looks like you need to just wait, because it will eventually start working.

In my case, it took me to just outside the wall near the Bloodfields zone line, which is not a marked ore spawn point. The ore was on the ground right underneath the Blackfall Borer (doesn't see invis).

Hope this helps anyone wondering like I did if something was wrong. It's not; patience is key.

EDIT: I just wanted to add that the message from the Energy Receptor, "The energy receptor doesn't appear to be active," is normal until the Borer spawns. I thought I needed to do something to activate it, but you don't. Just hold it on your cursor and wait.

Spawns in 2 spots

you dont need the energy receptor there are 2 locs it ground spawns at. Can skip this part all together and just loot the ore off the ground...

The most relevant post I've seen: he's absolutely right, skip the quest and just go look for the spawn point, no point in waiting.

Energy receptor

Thanks for the input folks, this forum regarding the energy receptor is certainly faster than inquiring through the petition mess.
I lost my energy receptor when I logged off, that evening, it only took me a month to gather the pages and book as a casual player. Of course it would have been helpful if in the dialogue, some indication had been given that the energy receptor was temporary.
Oh Well, the epic isn't really worth the effort when one thinks about the time wasted getting the energy receptor, tracking the Blackfall Borer, only to have him despawn without dropping the Blackfall Ore, waiting for the respawn and tracking him again, while fighting off the mobs that see invis. That effort could be spent questing items of equal or greater value.
Started over

My receptor just poofed too - didn't realize it was temporary. Collecting pages all over again - doesn't seem to be any other option. I did submit a feedback to Sony as making this temporary is ridiculous. Anyway good luck.

So this thing is gone if you camp? So what if you just get this far in the epic, and the mob isn't up?

You have to start all over again?
