The click stacks with everything except HP buff from a guild banner of health. I'm not sure if campfires block it as well.

Its a short duration buff.

Shielding affects the damage bonus of the mob, not base damage.
# Aug 17 2005 at 6:50 PM Rating: Decent
Im not very sure on what shielding does... does it subtract EVERY hit you get from a mob by the % or only a few hits here and there.
RE: Shielding
# Dec 18 2005 at 5:55 PM Rating: Decent
Shielding cut the base dmg and is the only thing that affect it. If mob has a low DI it's a big difference, if he has a low DB it's not really a big thing.
RE: Shielding
# Sep 16 2005 at 2:26 AM Rating: Good
Shielding works such as this. Say the only shielding you have is from this sword. You are fighting a mob that hits for 1000 max hit. You are now being hit for 970 max because of the 3% less dmg that you take from the mob hitting you.
RE: Shielding
# Oct 24 2005 at 2:09 AM Rating: Decent

Not so sure this is how shielding works anymore. With full defensive aa's and 1% sheilding in RS... mobs were hitting for 1235. Once i hit 4% shielding they were hitting for 1227. That is much less than a 1% drop in dammage for 3% shielding.
RE: Shielding
# Feb 02 2006 at 11:42 PM Rating: Good
Shielding works by reducing the mob's Damage Bonus (DB).

Mobs hit for damage based on the following formula :
damage = DB + (1-19)DI
where DB is th Damage Bonus, (1-19) is a number between 1 and 19, inclusive, and DI is the Damage Interval.

If a mob has a DB of 100 and a DI of 50, its minimum hit will be 150 and its maximum hit 1050. 10 percent shielding will reduce the DB, not the DI, of this mob. 10 percent shielding would reduce the DB by 10 percent, or from 100 to 90 in this example. The 50 DI is unchanged. So, you'd get hit for 140-1040 instead of 150-1050.

The worn effect is no longer lower reuse timer on our hate abilities. It's almost like Time BP effect. And the clicky is 600hp to group(bard slot buff) and to the tank chance to negate spells(regular buff) the tank gets both.

They changed it yet again with the patch today. Same as before but both goto Bard buff bar now.

First to ever say that? So you dont read warrior boards? Slow weapon = less ripostes, less ripostes = less unneeded damage taken, less unneeded dmg taken = less heals needed .. get the drift? + most of the good primaries for wars are slow to back that up, Darkblade from time, BBoB from tacvi.. well those are it but those are the 2 main warrior weapons.. NBoB or swiftcleave for people that didnt raid that era

This is an off Hnad weapon ... what are you smokeing. Im realy not all thru the game but once i hit elemental encounters tanking was pretty much dual weilding only for me and once i got me BoW that was pretty solid. The only reason dual weilding was out was because of the insane damage from repostes. Now with this expansion we gots the old AA ability Slippery Attacks, max that out and and you get no repostes from your offhand. That being the case i figure your lookin for a slowish Primary weapon and off hand is opened to pretty much any aggro churner. SO the way i see it is this is an ideal Priamry slot hard question what is ideal offhand ... open to suggestions

why CHA?
# Oct 13 2004 at 5:26 AM Rating: Default
Can someone explain why the warrior epic has a CHA bonus on it? I would think that +25 AGL would be better for the warrior class. Also, how come the warrior epic does not have a haste effect? Someone posted that they believe a MT should not be about DPS but you do need to hit a mob to hold aggro and a haste effect gives you a better chance to hit more often, IMO.

Charisma is the hardest stat for us tanks to get maxed out with WAR gear. Since Divine Intervention is a staple of life on high DPS mobs for tanking and staying alive, and CHA directly affects it, it's a good thing this has CHA on it.

You don't have to hit a mob to keep aggro technically... you can proc on misses just fine. Also if the mob is immune to your damage, you still build aggro, like with the Emperor in Ssra. Don't need bane weapons to tank, just to damage.

Haste is overrated. Any decent haste item with max enchanter haste easily puts warriors at the soft cap for haste. Shielding, mitigation, avoidance, and an AC/HP balance are the way to go.

The vengeful scorn on this is weak though, it only shaves like 2 seconds off a 30 second reuse discipline. That's way ghetto.

that 2 seconds also applys to the actul taunt and aoe taunt too. hitting taunt 2 seconds faster each pop is insane extra taunt, prolly more then a hate proc
RE: why CHA?
# Nov 29 2004 at 8:45 PM Rating: Decent
apparently you have NO CLUE how taunt works... hitting taunt 2 seconds faster doent really add alot of agro, since taunt really only adds agro when there is someone higher then you on the hate list, thus useing it every time it pops is pretty much worthless, and a waste of time..
RE: why CHA?
# Dec 03 2004 at 1:19 AM Rating: Decent
well, think of it this way, hittin taunt more often should, at least in theory, help him keep building more aggro so that he stays above the dps classes. or am i wrong on this
RE: why CHA?
# Feb 13 2005 at 7:48 AM Rating: Decent
Not quite.
Here is the way a successful taunt works:
Sets your hate level to the highest hate on the mob's list + 1 (or some other very small amount - some question on the exact number).
So, if you are already highest on the mobs list (have aggro), it may add 1 more hate.
Mashing the taunt key while you already have aggro is worthless.
Check for great warrior information. The good people on those boards have done tremendous parsing to determine information such as this.
RE: why CHA?
# Sep 15 2005 at 10:55 PM Rating: Decent
Yes, if you are not atop the agro list, a successful taunt will place you there. If you are already there, it might add +1 to your own aggro. That's slightly less aggro than a disarm attempt.

It is an ideal tactic to not taunt until you need it to save some aggro sponge.

Use the /incite line of disciplines (or maybe Spirit of Rage) immediately following a successful taunt to get and then solidify your aggro.

The 1.5 epics are not that hard to get. I have seen several on people in pre-time guilds.

As such, it is perfectly possible, and likely, that such a person would not have their stats maxxed.

Charisma affects the chance that the cleric death save spells will actually work.

A little extra charisma means you may find yourself still in the fight, with full hp, rather than naked back at your bind point.
Sigh :(

Not very happy with the epic upgrade, the right click is to long of a recast time for such a short duration on the buff, and the focus is ok but its's not all that usefull. I mean when I use my hate line of disc and tuant, I usualy have to tuant once (if no fail) incite and I am done I only use it again if one I get constant fails on tuant or two if I am jumping in on fight as secondary MA after the main MA has gone down.

I dont see sony ideal in this weapon other then a off hand with deceant damage ratio, but you can attain better with less effort that will get you just as much if not more agro. I compared this to what I am useing now and there is little agro benifit fromt the weapon vrs what I have now.

Is this suposed to be Uber?
# Oct 06 2004 at 11:01 AM Rating: Decent
Is it just me, but dosent the damage/delay look like some Pali/SK weapons that arent that rare? I mean come on, you would think that for a weapon that is supposed to be like so uber as to take such a long quest the least they can do is make it a bit better on damage/delay like 28/20 instead of 26 delay; or if they did not want to make it to fast, then at least make it do like 35 damage, 35/26 would be resonable considering some of the other weapos they have out and the fact that this is supposed to be like the ultimate quest weapon for the WAR class. As it is, it looks like a weapon that my be obsolete by the time one gets it. In other words, if you are in such an uber guild that you can get it easy, you can get a better weapon from mob drops. just my 2cp, flame if u like, but I think they really should have given it a bit better ratio.

yes paly's and sk's can use 1handers that have symaler ratios but that is to cover for there lack of dual wield look at this again and think hey and if i get a 21/20 ( seen them around that war can use ) now figure your dps you going to kick that hybrids *** and yes high end game raid mt is going back to a shield to help him stand longer but at that point mt dps=crap mt is meat shield and there for no reason other than proc hate as much as posable and try to not die :)

so for a 1 hander its not so bad i think... off topic anyone know if 1.5 will be terned in to get 2.0 or if a war can wield 1.5 and 2.0? to have 2 epics like 1.0 did?

I totaly agree MT's should not be about DPS although it is nice to have a MT that can deal some DPS that is not the focus of his/her job. IMO MT should be all about building HP's AC and Hate to make it possable for healers to keep them alive while keeping agro away from the healers. If your building your DPS and sacrifing hate procs or HP and AC then you become your groups dps cause your dieing to fast in a tank situation or your healers are getting agro and dieing. This wepon is awsome just look at the Hp's and AC on this thing and remember you still get a secondary slot to fill. Although I don't play a war class it helps to know what your MT can weild.
235 HP's
Sta 30 (more HP's)
AC 45
Shilding 3% (more ac)
FE: Krekk's Presence Reduces incoming melee dammage 10% (More AC)
FE: Vengeful Scorn Reduces reuse timer for Hate Disc's by 2 seconds (more Hate)
This blade is pack full of warior goodies.

And you still have two AUGs you can add to it as well (and remove them if/when you get 2.0)... You can add something like this:

Type 4:
Slimestone Fragment of Dread (for stun and HP blast = more aggro) or
Black Diamond of Regeneration (taking away HP from a mob pi$$es them off and can help your healers if they are low on mana: they may be able to regen that last 1% mana for to be able to land a fast heal or CH).

Type 8:
Radiant Marble Sphere of Ire (obviously for more Hate) or
Radiant Diamond of Assault (mainly for DPS, but also can help you get more procs by making you hit more(?)) or
Heart of the Beast (mobs hate DoTs [ask any DRU, NEC, etc.] plus the DS will deal more damage...even though only slightly)

If you weild this then your hopefully far enough along in your char's deveolpment to understand a bit of how the class works and what works best for agro. Trial and error is maybe not the most efficient way but a good one to figure out what works and what doesn't. Lifetap augs while fun use while I solo or in grind groups are not very good at agro generation. If you learn fast it will just take the one group that has the monk with the stun augs (yes its happened to me /boggle) on both hands to realize this and make adjustments. Hopefully good groups will adjust to the agro you either have or don't have, and play accordingly.

As far as off-hand v. mainhand arguments. Your primary will always hit more. If you pile on the enraging blow/chaotic strike/angerIII whichever on it, you will by default proc those augs more and gen more agro. DPS in this situation should not be a consideration like the gentleman said earlier with raid mobs the ac from a shield + furious bash would be preferable to a not-so-great offhander. In reg grind groups if someone can grab agro from you with this weapon in either slot should be chastized by the entire group for poor personal agro control

Ok I do play a warrior and Lifetaps not the best agro proc and i dont see 100 HP life tap saving you in a fight at the lv your going to be using this wepion wen i die in exp or raid group and or so on it is buy more than 200HP

as far as soloing since I dinged 66 I have yet too find a good plase to solo greggs end can be don but t heeling after every fight

anger 3 augs the way to go for agro and with a shield with bash 3 or 4 you will be making some good agro and buy time you get this you will have elmentle BB with anger on it or the gloves from GOD with anger or bouth if your lucky now thas some seres agro

anthere good wepion to mate this with is Split blade of destruction with anger 3 aug

but nomader what aug you put on this if you have it you should be smart enouph to know 5point dot aint going to do a damn thing for you
RE: Is this suposed to be Uber?

Problems with this post...

Black Diamond of Regeneration (taking away HP from a mob pi$$es them off and can help your healers if they are low on mana: they may be able to regen that last 1% mana for to be able to land a fast heal or CH).

Wrong. Lifetaps are very minimal agro.

Radiant Diamond of Assault (mainly for DPS, but also can help you get more procs by making you hit more(?))

Procs go by a certain rate determined by Dex and a weapon's innate proc mod. An augment such as that has no purpose on a weapon. Its an armor aug. If you're wanting more DPS, you'll be wanting to add a proc to it instead of that. If you want agro, then anger 3 or 125dd+stun proc's are right up your alley.

Heart of the Beast (mobs hate DoTs [ask any DRU, NEC, etc.] plus the DS will deal more damage...even though only slightly)

Where do you see the DoT on that augment? its regen 5 ds 5. what i think you need to realize is that weapon aug slots are more important than most armor aug slots for the warrior class. Sure, they COULD put that augment in their weapon, but why do that when it makes so much more sense to throw that aug in an armor slot due to possible procs being added to the weapon slots.

If you're going to be using this weapon for tanking, then slap 2 anger 3's or an anger 3 and a 125ddstun in it, and dont bother with the stat mods. (oh, and if you think 100 hps from a lifetap will save you enough to merit it being on that sword despite the crappy agro lifetaps make, then /camp and delete.)
RE: Is this suposed to be Uber?
# Oct 10 2004 at 9:10 AM Rating: Default
Well that was part flame and part informative, but you are right about part of it. My point with the lifetap is not to end up saving you via 100 HP, but if you are right on the brink and you can get enough to keep you standing long enough for a heal to land then you are saved.

I know I most likely should have put some Anger III here instead, but these are just options. They will not work near as well for keeping aggro, but they sure as heck will help. If you have these and do not have Anger III AUGs, slap them on here until you can get the right AUGs...what can it hurt???

BTW: Here is the proc on Heart of The Beast -
Effect: Fiery Might
1: Increase Hitpoints by 5 per tick
2: Increase Damage Shield by 5

Type: Worn
Level for Effect: 65

if you are in a situation where a single 100 hp lifetap can mean life or death, then you wont be having this weapon. If that is your explaination why that augment would be put in this weapon, then you are wrong. Warriors that use lifetap augs in their non-dps/soloing weapons are wrong.

Fiery might isnt a proc, its a worn effect. You posting again just shows how you are a druid and not a warrior. I was letting you off the hook the first time, since you're a druid and obviously dont know wtf you're talking about when it comes to warrior weapons, but honestly...5 regen 5 ds? are you serious? a 40hp aug has more merit in this weapon than that. That may be a possibility, but that was the worst idea i've seen since putting a lifetap in this weapon if you're using it for agro. I mean, most warriors use BST SD as a junk buff, and it gives more regen than that aug. The same goes for normal regen. It just isnt practical by the time you're getting this weapon.

BTW, if you're Heart of the Beast, then you should already have the LDoN points for the anger3 augs. If LDoN points are the problem, then why did you show an aug that costs as much as an anger3 aug? If you're a warrior, anger3 augs are arguably the best augs (on the same level as the 40 hp augs), and as such you'd be having to choose between those two or armor. End of story.

FYI... Lifetap procs are magic based... magic based most often means big resist... means no agro, and no life returnd... Even after debuffs. Just try to use any lifetap aug on simple BoT mobs and you'll see that more than 50% don't land, and the ones that do land for minimal amounts. Also, to add to what that guy said about attack having nothing to do with proc rate, you can have a weapon proc even if you dont land the melee hit. That's why clerics can proc like 20 times on a single mob, i seen em proc almost as often as they land the hit, all that matters is how fast they are swingin, and amount of dex in order to get the chance to proc.

My ghetto profile... (outdated till further notice)
RE: Is this suposed to be Uber?
# Oct 15 2004 at 7:21 PM Rating: Decent
magic based most often means big resist... means no agro
Wrong. A resisted spell results in just as much aggro as a spell landing for full damage. Potential damage genereates aggro, not actual damage done.

i seen em proc almost as often as they land the hit, all that matters is how fast they are swingin, and amount of dex in order to get the chance to proc.

Close but not quite. Proc rate is determined SOLELY by dex and AA (Weapon Affinity) and by Procrate mod field on the weapon. You literally do not have to swing in order to proc... as long as autoattack is on, you have the chance to proc. A 75 delay weapon unhasted will proc exactly as often (statistically) as a 17 delay weapon with 130% haste, given that both weapons have the same base proc rate, and that the character wielding them has the same amount of dex with each weapon equipped.

Why would any high end warrior go for an extra 5ds and regen? Also this is clearly the most uber offhand weapon a warrior will ever see, throw 2 hates procs in that thing and watch 1200hate along with lower recast on taunt/aoe taunt/incite. your the same people that thought that the first warrior epic sucked. And if you still think it does name 1 2hander during kunark with a hate proc thx. be glad with what you get and stop complaining that its not good enough or this stat isn't high enough, its only 1.5 can't wait to hear you guys rip on 2.0 when it has over 400hp.

Actually this is just the 1.5 and it's really not that bad considering the quality of the sword (and oh does it have quality.) I think the last encounter is something like 4 groups give or take, certainly not easy for those of us in small guilds but certainly possible, especially in a few months. I'm very excited about it, although I must admit the effects leave something to be desired. I believe the clickie does stack with the cleric mitigate line so that makes it somewhat useful.
