53 SK scored it this evening
# May 21 2003 at 3:01 AM Rating: Decent
This was definately an interesting boss mob - if you're going to do this sucker, max out your cold saving throw and get yourself a fast casting buff item or spell for your first spell slot - this guy will knock off your first buff every other cast so you want to have a junk buff there to lose so you don't lose important stuff.

As a non-MA in my guild, this is a GREAT weapon - I'm getting off double taps that are just shy of 500 damage with it and the wonderful INT bonus not only helps my casting, but as a tradeskill junky, replaces my MOSS and SoM for INT gear. :)

I initially had a Wideblade before I got the merit for this one. Now, I know a bunch of you are going to say that I'm giving up speed and losing overall damage in the process, but look at these numbers -

Wideblade - max damage = 150, 35 speed
Rekeklo - max damage = 250, 46 speed

So while the Wideblade will swing 1/3 more often, the Rekeklo will do 2/3 more damage.

or

Wideblade swings 3 times for 450 damage in 105
Rekeklo swings 2 times for 500 damage in 92

So as you can see, ultimately, this sword will do more damage in a shorter period of time.

This is a wonderful weapon in anyone's hands.

This weapon is for hibrids, the 15 int and wis are going to do a hibrid a hell of alot more good then a war, not saying warrior should not get, but if a pal or SK don't have better or equal to then they should get it. Either way It goes to who ever the guild leaders decied.

this weapon sucks *** bad

on mobs of this level, you get far better things
for example the Shovel of the Harvest, off the very same Gozzrem and for ~the same classes

Shovel of the Harvest
Damage: 50
Delay: 43
HP: +100
Weapon Skill: Two Hand Blunt

you also got better 2h drops off nearly every NToV mob (the WAR only 2h sword off eashen for example)
Nice 2 hander

Yeah as a Warrior, I would love this weapon but this weapon is more suited for a pally or sk. The stats hold up the argument for that. Since we use a point system for Uber loot, I dont think a warrior should blow his points on this also, I mean heck in a week your gonna see that warrior go back to dual hehe, they and I always do.

Warriors and taunt
# Apr 10 2002 at 2:30 PM Rating: Excellent
I hate to break it to you guys, but low delay is not the end-all be-all taunt for warriors. We have a level 60 warrior that recently acquired the 50/43 shovel, and he holds aggro better with it than with a jade mace. Aggro is a combination of many things, and delay is only part of it. The fact that you crunch something for 500+ points in a single hit (critical, of course) or for double hits of 330+ (non-crits) really pisses a mob off.

The reason, if there is any, that warriors might should consider passing on this or any other post-epic two-hander is not because they don't make great weapons, but because post-epic one-handers for warriors are even more awesome than this. The problem you will run into in most high-end guilds is that you can't simply roll on anything that comes down the pike and you can use. A warrior that opted to use this or even the shovel might very well find that he has to pass when a post-epic one-hander is up for grabs, because he already looted an uber two-hander, thus depriving a knight from using it. That is the reason warriors might want to think it throgh carefully. If they are okay with that, then this weapon would make a fine warrior weapon, whether the warrior is main tank or not. High delay weapons can hold aggro quite easily if they hit hard enough. Ask any paladin or shadow knight that has weilded a hard hitting, high delay weapon. They often find themselves out-taunting warriors with low delays, and without even casting.

As for guilds only using one main tank, that is simply not the case. On uber mobs, the fights can easily last longer than the duration of the defensive discipline. When defensive drops, that warrior is just another tank, no better than a shadow knight or paladin, except for a few more HP and slightly higher AC (if even that). In this situation, a solid guild knows how to rotate in another warrior to take over with a fresh defensive disc. As such, all warriors that are capable of acting as an MT against a high end mob should be equipped to hold aggro, however they do that.
RE: Warriors and taunt
# Jul 08 2002 at 9:51 PM Rating: Decent
Did you compare the aggro on this weapon to a jade mace? I think you did. That's totally moronic. I'd imagine a warrior who is MT this mob, and the other warriors on the raid, all have 1h superior to a jade mace. Now if yer warrior is weilding at least a willsapper or wavecrasher, they got no reason to ever dream of using a 2h, except for variety. Either of those very easily attainable, very 'average' 1h will get more aggro than this weapon.

There is a reason that 2h like this will go to knight classes first--because they are dps challanged. Their offense caps lower, and they don't get dual weild, so the only dream they have for making meaningful (but still low) dps is to pick up a nice 2h weapon. Enter blades like this, 50/43 shovel, etc. No guild that is capable of doing this mob will give this to a warrior over a pal/sk if it would be an upgrade for the pal/sk. Consider that warriors always get the plate first, the best 1h weapons first, etc etc etc. Getting the call on nice 2h first is the ONLY bone that knight classes get on raids--and for good reason.
RE: Warriors and taunt
# Jul 20 2002 at 4:05 PM Rating: Good
he compaired it to the jade mace couse of delay... being that his argument was low delay doesnt really help with taunt.

To add to what he said delay accually has nothing to do with taunt and agro. The reason low delay helps with taunt is warriors with lower delay can start getting more dammage rolling out faster. However... a warrior quadding for round 45 every couple seconds isnt going to out taunt a warrior with the same stats and level doubleing for 250-300 every 4 seconds. Shur right at the beginning of the battel the DWer will... but after about 30 seconds the 2h warrior will hold taunt over the DWer without even taunting...

I know a few of you smart guys will sit her and call me an idiot, dont really matter to me, but taunt is entirly based on that lil taunt button working and how much DMG you do. Not how fast you swing.

RE: Warriors and taunt
# Apr 19 2002 at 7:58 PM Rating: Decent
Yah, wars can hold aggro with high dly weaps fine, and as you said most opt not to ask for this due to the fact that it is better for a pally/sk cause it will be a long while before they see something better than this, while wars can get a cpl 1hers that are just as good/better, and for taunt purposes most MTs use weaps like SoD, Willsapper, and frostbite for the procs that generate aggro, a lot of MTs on servers where SoDs no longer drop will keep using a willsapper even after his guild as access to better dmg/dly ntov weaps just for the fact that he will generate more taunt with it until he is in a guild good enuff to get hategivers and blades of carnage

Forget rolling in ToV...
My guild uses a loot council system, others use a point system to assure that drops benefit the guild as a whole and not the single player.
I was awarded this sword tonight, it is a great weapon!
I am not crazy about the look (I love more basic looking swords like a dark reaver) but with stats like these I would be glad to wield a rusty dagger looking thing!

Well guess what....lvl 60 105% haste this is a 45/22 w/out dmg bonus added so Ima hafta say this would be damn nice on a war that isnt MT just for the dmg he would deal without getting taunt and having clerics need to heave to worry about healing 2 tanks.
Why is it pollitically incorrect for warrior to use this?
# Oct 27 2001 at 10:36 PM Rating: Default
Ok First dont bag on warriors that use, or roll for this because if that person favors 2hs weaponss who cares. Its not like you (everyone that laughes at them) use a weapon that is so incredibly perfect. Second Just give them a simpe haste(I bet you could never think of doing that). Who ever said you had to give them a mana-draining haste? If they chose to use this, give em a brake. Id like to see you others try to take on mobs without a tanker. :P

haste man, haste!! not to mention if for some reason a group has 2 warriors, don't ask why it just seems to happen, then the non main tank should use something like this so that the main can keep agro and clerics don't have to worry about healing 2 people.

#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 30 2001 at 6:05 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Since a pally can use at least minor heals and such he should have this, a Sk has no real use for casting in grps except for the occasional lifedraw.

I just wanted to ask those players that saying this is definitly best for suchansuch class and you shouldn't get it because you will be taunting... How many high lvl raids have you been on? Or should i ask how many (here is the keyword) RAIDS where you have more 10 tanks? Does every tank taunt? that's crazy IMHO, all you need is one main tank, everyone else should be do Hate Management so they don't get hit, so the healers can chain heal because these Mobs Melee for (in average)1500+ per round. How long do you think a troll warrior with max hitpoints is gonna last ? 20 seconds? CH is 10sec long? SO lets think about those that aren't the center of attention and need to keep Hate Management? I am not gonna flame anyone but the first ranger that says this weapon shouldn't go to a warrior in my group is gonna be doing a long walk when i stop taunting <grin>.

I just participated in my first major raid, a raid on Kael Drakkal. We had four groups with about 8 tanks total, and I the lone SK was able to consistently taunt the mobs off! Most of these people had nice weaps and were quite a few levels higher than me. I had an ACGS, and if I was able to taunt that well with that, then this baby would be nice =)

My god, that's just horrible. You're an SK, of course you can get taunt. The problem is, you're a manasink, so you shouldn't. :P

I imagine by now you've figured that out, but I thought I should point out that hybrids getting aggro on a raid is a "bad thing"(tm) and only more "bad" with higher level raids, for the new people.

Heh I dont do high end stuff yet but I do know everything goes smoother if only ONE person has aggro. It is the job of the 'smart' SK's and rogue's to not use their spells or their BS too much to change that. If you are you are not impressing anyone but are only making things harder for everyone.

2hs Taunt Value
# Jul 26 2001 at 6:01 PM Rating: Decent
With enchanter haste and a FBSS or better item a Warrior is going to be taunting MUCH better with this thing than two puny swords. Part of what holds taunt is the amount of damage you are doing to the mob. Using a Culler (31 dam, 37 del) with some haste once I get the agro on a mob I keep it until it or I am dead. And this is while fighting along side rangers using their epics. This thing will do that job even better. Unless your 1handers are extremely uber you will do more damage and maintain all the taunt you can handle better with this. This is going to be a devestating weapon for any Tank to wield.

I can understand that Warriors would want to use 2 one handers for greater taunt value, but what about rangers? we dont really want taunts, cause we cant take the hits, and i know 2 one handers will do greater damage, but even I like diversity in my weapons. I doubt that a ranger would get to roll, but its always good to put them on the useable classes. We like wisdom and AC too ya know.

I only use my 2hs to dink around with, no reason to waste valuable time when I can be like 40 40 40 40 with my lupine and 28 37 with my CSS for 70 54 with a 2hs. I mean, in no way is this weapon bad, but no Ranger's I know would use it in a serious situation. Although, swarmcaller is so fun to solo with, well, till I get Earthcaller at least :)

I think you have your taunt philosophies a bit backwards.

Hate/aggro/taunt whatever you wanna call it atrophies over time, thus most warriors, I believe rightfully so, believe that a lower delay weapon with the same damage to delay ratio as a higher delay weapon with the same overall damage output ratio will generate more taunt. Thus, dual wielding really fast weapons is what most warriors go with to maintain taunt. Also because of the fact that the weapon is lower delay, your strength bonus comes into account more often because of the more hits over time than a 2hs/2hb/2hp. Thus, given the proper equal setups the damage output is also slightly higher on fast delay weapons, all things equal.

Anyhow, great weapon, congrats to Remedy for finding this badboy.

Ahh its an ok weapon I guess.(understatment) ;)

A weapon that is 30/34 is great.. a weapon that is 30/34 and has no weight is even better.
And then on top of that it has 25AC.... wow

Then to add the 25 Wisdom and 25 Int to it is just insane.(in a good way)..And While I would have to agree that PAL And SHD would be nice owners of thie weapon, I think if it says Warrior, they should be in on the roll.. and of course on a need before greed basis..

ahhh imagine the price on this thing if it was dropable.

#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 26 2001 at 12:04 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) well, if you ever even see this weapon, it is not gonna be in a "throw together" group hehe, it should be up to your guild officers as to who it goes to, rolling on an item is just a good way to assure that it goes to the wrong person. also, warriors dont need this, get 2 1hs's, is a DAMN nice weapon for pally / SK tho. nother thing, a warrior should have max ac by the time they would ever see this anyway. soft cap being 1100ac.
