FYI.. i bought the spell in CR and it wouldnt work so bought it in POK... SK merchant and it worked np... so i dont think the spells work the same ... even thought they are the same spell... i know sounds silly only thing i can think is one is a no drop spell and the other isnt.... how i found out ... first time i did it i bought it in POK but failed ... so i got the pelts and went to CR figured everything i needed was there since i needed to bring up my tailoring.. so bought it off the CR SK/necro merchant and it wouldnt recognize it. so i figured i would try the pok again and it worked
Combination error

I bought 3 copies of Gather Shadows but the large sewing kit won't recognise it - is this a bug caused by changing spells to stackable or am I doing it wrong?

Easy, but not cheap

Not *so* easy and not under 10pp either, though in THEORY it should be.

I have nearly a level 60 skill in tailoring now, and this is trivial to me, but it had a high failure rate on it.

It took me 8 spells (at 4p7s a pop, not to mention I personally had to pay more than the cost of the spell because I had to send a necro to get the spells for me in the first place) and 9 pelts (who knows how many of those wolves I had to kill to get them. And buying would have cost at least 1p each IF you can find them at a merchant), and 8 silk swatches, which while easy to make cost no less than 1p each in the Bazaar, and hours of killing spiders to get enough silks to make them. Out of that I got one Large Shadow Silk (only tried it once, and it worked the first time) and two Shadow Silks.

So that comes out to around 60pp to make 1 large shadow silk, and 2 shadow silks. And a lot of time invested in gathering the components.

I have enough now that when I get high enough to do the epic monk quest I won't be fretting over this, but I would suggest, if you don't want to waste time killing wolves and spiders and someone is offering them up at a price you can afford, take it.

And speaking of shadow wolves, if I don't find a paw soon I am going to scream.

Good journeys!

too easy
# May 14 2002 at 7:44 PM Rating: Decent
Getting the Shadow Silk is too easy. It can be done in less than 20 min. and cost under under 10 pp. As alredy said, you can get the shadow wolf pelt in EC. Start by seeing if the Inns got some for sale. It will cost under 1pp there. If not, hunt the shadow wolf yourself (can take some time), or auction that you want to buy it. The spider silk for the Silk Swatch is also in EC and easy to get. I am a Human monk, and didnt have any problem buying the Gather Shadow Scroll in East FP at the Necro-guild. If you dont have any tailoring skills, just ask if anyone wants to combine the items for you and make the Shadow silk. I got someone to do it for me for free.
All in all it took me about 20 min. and costed me about 6.5 pp. So buying the Shadow Silk for over 100 pp. or so is outright stupid.

You will DIE for such blasphemy!!! Useless? This is one of the simple, yet crucial pieces of the monk epic.(j/k on the whole dying part..hehe)

Where can you get this? Is it a drop? If so off of what? Can you buy it? If so, from whom?

Gather shadows is a low level necromancer spell (self only invisibility). The scroll is available from necromancer spell vendors throughout Norrath. If you are KOS near necromancer spell vendors, you can get someone else to buy it for you, or you can make a mule to buy it.
over 1000pp

This time, I got a Crystal Covered Shroud, a Wraithbone Hammer, a Platinum Armband and a Hollowed Koada'Dal Rib Cage, from a level 51 monk's twinked alt cleric, for a Shadow Silk.
500 pp
# Jul 03 2001 at 8:51 PM Rating: Default
A 60 DRU gave me 500pp to tailor this for his monk alt. I got my Necro friend to get the scroll in East Freeport and I tracked the shadow wolf in Misty Thicket.

Later, someone was selling shadow wolf skins in East Commons for 30pp each. I'd rather attempt to get them on my own, even though they are a rare drop. I must have killed at least 30 shadow wolves for one skin.

My tailoring at the time was in the 40's or 50's, and I got it on the first and only try.

I'm a 21 DRU now, and I was a 20 DRU at the time.
Ingredients

Combine a silk swatch, a shadow wolf pelt, and a scroll of gather shadows in a large tailoring kit. It was trivial for me at a skill of 40.
How do you make it?
# Apr 16 2001 at 1:10 PM Rating: Decent
I'm wondering how do you make this? like what ingredients, and what level of tailoring do you need to make it?
Useless?

Can Tailors make anything with this or is it just there?
RE: Useless?
# Mar 14 2001 at 11:44 AM Rating: Default
necros make this using the tailoring skill (or get a tailor to make it for them) for the shadowbound armor quest.

click 'shadowbound boots' above for the quest info.

This is used in the quest "Monks of the whistling fist". The resulting item is the Robe of the lost circle. Just to clarify. not really a correction, just wish to avoid some confusion that i dealt with, for others.
