Paid 30pp each for crushed jaundice gems today.
May have been 3k when velious first came out but are cheap as chips now.

If you pay 30pp each for chips you need to re-evaluate your spending! *giggle*

30pp each is a good price if you arent getting them off vendors. And I'm not positive, but I think getting them off vendors is like 22pp, or something like that. Whatever it is, it's real cheap. I got a bunch of them off of the vendors near the Thurgadin bankers, and there were still some caster and hybrid ones after I was done.
GEBs
# Dec 09 2002 at 7:33 PM Rating: Decent
My Necro currently has GEBs, which I like because of the INT boost. What do you think would be a better trade off? HP for INT? I focused on INT boost for Mana purposes.
RE: GEBs
# Jun 01 2003 at 3:34 PM Rating: Decent
Well on the note of the quest boots, from what I have seen (correct me if i'm wrong) most boots do not have the primary mana making stat, ie wis/int. But here is my opinion, these are nice to have at a higher lvl, my Druid currently uses the SS boots, which has no wisdom, I used to use GEBs, but now at lvl 61 I have no need for the boot wisdom, with no kei i currently run 256 wisdom, and really i am never without kei, plus for Druids I get the additional 50mana from boots and some nice resists, and i can sow newbies without having to mem the spell =D

Well if that message just confused what the take home message is, there will be a time when you dont need the int from GEBs, so if you get the chance, get these, you'll like them later even if they sit in bank for a few lvls :)

If your INT is under 200, then focus on upping the stat. Having high INT means that you have a larger mana pool. Having high amounts of hpts does help, but that means you'll be medding more often than hunting because you'll constantly be running out of mana.

A good way to look at this is by comparing yourself to a solar electric car. If your car has a huge battery and small solar pannels, it can go farther without needing to recharge; but may take a bit of time to recharge in between trips. If your car has huge solar pannels but a small batter, it can recharge faster between trips; but it can't travel as far. And the point? You want to go places, not constantly being idle at one place recharging your batteries.

As far as the boots are concerned, they are good. I would keep them for their resist values. As for the clicky effect? Its okay, but Improved Invis vs Undead is better and has a longer duration.

Another way to look at it is..
If you are getting hit and smashed up as a Necro, and losing HP - you need to get re-trained on how to fight as a Necromancer.

Better than Netted Kelp and Spider Fur
# Nov 06 2002 at 10:41 AM Rating: Default
If you are a Necro, you need HP more than Int. The more HP you have, the more you can Lich without stopping. These are VERY nice boots and make a hard choice between these and Spider Fur Boots. The Spider Fur have 45HP, but no resists. Netted Kelp are nice too, but you get more HP from Spider Fur. I'd only get Netted Kelp if I was trying to boost my FR.

Man These Are Sweet

Not to sound condesending but u guys r stupid. By the time u hit 45 when you have the chance of getting these saves are a necessity especially good on dragon raids for your epic considering lady vox can nuke for 300 so can lord nagafen and trakanon can nuke for much higher and also has a poison DoT that can only be taken off by a certain spell. Also man other guys can nuke extremely well and saves are a must when u only have 1k life and the enemy can nuke for much more than that.

We kill dragons for our epic? hmm, they must have changed it heh. He is correct about the saves however, by 45ish you should have good enough int to sac a few points in it and pick up the saves from this.

He is EXACTLY right. At level 51, my stats are so far beyond maxed I don't even know what the math looks like anymore. My mana pool should be probably 1.5x what it is right now, but without AA's I'm screwed. So a pair of boots like this is perfect for me, nice saves across the board. Replaces my Slippers of Dark Mana very nicely until I can aug slippers with a Stone of Sorrow.

I still kinda like netted kelp boots better then these. 14 stamina on boots is just plain fantastic. (I'd still like to keep the warlocks boots in a bag to carry around all the time thoguh)

In the last week my stamina has gone from 65 to 114, and let me tell you, it really makes a difference with your resting rate. (i've aquired lots of warlocks pieces and netted kelp recently)

For you guys who think these suck, STOP PLAYING A NECRO. im 52 have 210 int and dont have very many int items on(ears rings wrists face are all save gear with no int) . SAVES ARE YOUR FRIEND. higher saves mean you resist spells or take less damage from them. For exaple the Krup wizzys in Seb ( a very common mob there ) make the arch magi in Guk look like yard trash with the wopping 500dd spells they cast... can you say dead caster if you cant resist at least part of the damage. yes they are low +'s to saves but show me another pair of boots that has ALL the saves on them. the effect is a bonus with or without the effect these are great boots.
RE: Limm Daul
# Jun 15 2001 at 11:13 AM Rating: Default
well limm daul i think i would probably go for the upgrade to these boots if i where you since you are 52 that should not be a problem which than goes back to what people are saying about these boots...they are crap...if you would have enough logic and intelligence to see that if you use your time more wisely to get to the level needed to do the quest for the boots that are almost exactly like these...than these boots ARE garbage..along with thw fact that unless you have a group to goto dragin necropolis or wherever the gems drop you'll be paying upto 3000pp for the gems for this quest and still have to spend the time getting the quest armor....would you pay 3000pp for this garbage when the upgrade that is a little better is almost exactly the same?? if you would limm daul...we should do business:))
cause i have this item
( 3.5 WT, 16 AC, +20 HP, -2 CHA, +5 SV COLD, +5 SV DISEASE, +5 SV FIRE, +5 SV MAGIC, +5 SV POISON)
that i will sell you for 1000pp lol it don't have the IVU but it has better saves and since you can't cast that IVU while walking anyway you might as well just mem the spell and cast it. and no questing for rare hard to get quest armor drops either...so what everyone else thinks this flayed skin tunic is worth 50pp it has a lot of save it should be worth at least 1/3 of the price of those boots to you right;)

Oh dear, dear, dear. These boots are far from crap, and if you think they are, you obviously don't know how to play a Necro properly. Quite apart from the fact that saves can stop you getting your butt handed to you on a silver platter by any caster mob in the game, the clicky IVU is going to be invaluable to any Necro trying to safely get a group through a dungeon with a lot of undead (such as travelling through ToFS to get to the floor you want to hunt on).

I recently got this pair of boots, and I wear them with pride. I picked up the gems while hunting in Velks and Siren's Grotto for parts of my Coldain Prayer Shawl quests, and was lucky enough to be the only caster wanting the Torn Silk Enchanted Boots on a Kael raid. Total cost of these boots to me - 0pp.

Ok, so there might be "better" items for sale in the bazaar (and honestly, that depends on your definition of better, doesn't it?) but some of us like to play the game rather than paying someone else to play it for us, and quite frankly at the level you need to be to get the pieces for these boots yourself, your INT should already be plenty high enough, without needing to boost it with your boots.

#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 09 2001 at 9:56 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) well all i gotta say is why go through all the trouble of doing a quest for these lame a$$ boots when you can just go on a PoG raid and pick them up. same damned thing as boots of bonecaster..wished verant would quit just changing the color of necro items and call them a new item.. and yes compared to all other items that are gotten in thurgiden quests thes are pretty damn lame all those post braggin this garbage up..you people must work for verant or something...cause the only thing that makes these boots even worth trying to give up a gems that sel for 1000pp in EC and armor that drops in kael drakkal is the clickable IVU effect which cannot be used while running so it isn't that mcuh more of a hassle just to mem the damn spell and cast it on yourself. obviously you goobers who are telling everyone they should grow up before posting bad stuff on this item...are not playing necros or are not playing necro trying to get this item...so who really needs to grow up before they post. if i seen these boots for sale(yes i know i won't they are NO DROP) in ec for as much plat as the gems for the quest are i would laugh st whoever quoted me the price and probably put him/her on my ignore list if i need 35 extra hp i'll just have my chanter friend make me a ring for 100pp and if i need goofy *** saves at the level i need to do this quest..i'll quit playing(cause obviously i've been doing something wrong and my thinking process in completely f@cked up like the people posting that this garbage is good) the ONLY thing that makes this worth anything is the clickable IVU which is on any necro boot item quest at this level. but i think if i no longer need INT or any other stats that would cause me to wear this garbage i would rather free up an inventory slot and just wear my jboots:p it makes much more since to me and cause let me point something out...some people think that more INT isn't worth it at this level cause it 5 more points is only going to give ya 50% of the mana it takes to cast a 50th lvl spell..well i'm here to tell you i only cast 3 spells in combat that are high level rest are cheap spells i have been casting since 24th and 30th lvl so your full of crap that over 200 INT doesn't help..but i will leave you to your screwed up logic and not argue that fact any longer..and then the 35 HP if your logic is..you don't need anymore INT at 50th lvl cause its not enough mana to cast one spell than how can you say 35 Hp is worth it when that hasn't gotten me 1 hit in combat since 20th lvl ...so my logic tells me that people braggin this garbage up are not the people palying necro(well the intelligent people playing necros anyway) but rather people playing other classes that are content with their cool quest items that verant is giving them. futhermore i don't call a class that completely dependant on a darkness spell not being resisted to solo a soloing class...wake the F@ck up!!
nice boots

Any armor that gives bonus to all saves +hps is good to wear for general purposes. I call these my "walk around" boots. Keep your blighted in the bank until you need extra PR... unless you're an agility nut =)
Actually Useful
# Apr 17 2001 at 3:20 AM Rating: Decent
Necro's are one of the caster classes where extra HP's are desirable. More hitpoints means you can stay in Lich form long, the longer you stay in lich form the more mana you get. When you combine that with the saves, these are real good boots.

You people have no idea how good these boots are...when you get to the uber levels and you have no need for int then the resist on this armor is very important for dragon raids and other big named mobs.
Very nice!

I dont understand why people dont like these, they give +35 hp (extra HP is ALWAYS a good thing) and a bonus to all saves. Even a single point in a save can make a difference. And a right-clickable Invis vs Undead? Infinitely useful! These are more for those of us that have more than 200 int, though, but still, VERY nice shoes.
ummm hello
# Mar 05 2001 at 4:17 PM Rating: Default
I guess you havent heard that our HP are being lowered ....and if by the time you could get these your other gear isnt tricked out by then and your int already maxed then i pitty you ... i have 203 int and running around in jboots ... these boots would be nice ... plus the saves are great!!! ... plus a right clickable invis vs. undead is nice too ... geeez do people ever think before they post?!?!?!
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 04 2001 at 3:11 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) These are so bad i wouldn't force a dwarf to wear em
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 05 2001 at 12:28 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I agree, our tanking days are over when we're level 8 or so, so why wear these 2 piles of dung??
They are not that bad
# Mar 04 2001 at 10:00 AM Rating: Good
When looking at these you have to realize what else you could have on your feet. You could have GE Boots, Blighted, or these. When over 200 int the Golden GE Boots do not do much and the Blighted does not give mana or int. The Blighted gives agi and some save vs Poison and 5 hp. Not many necros really need the vs Poison (I have 98 vs poison with just DMF on), but I guess if you really want 10 more vs Poison you could go with Blighted. I think the 35hp and the 2 to every save is a much more desirable effect.

I think that people that slam items like this are below 40, or have less than 200 int, and dont understand the value of extra saves or HP. And as far as the AC is concerned, we're necromancers, not tanks (though, I tend to forget ;D )

That is why there is the necro and sk only item called the circlet of shadows. Anyone who owns one will attest to how valuable an item this is. It has saved my *** more times than I can state. So to now have a right click IU at my finger tips is another answered prayer for Innoruuk. I've been waiting a long time for one. And the saves are great. If I put on all my int gear i would have probably 220+. I don't need int items anymore. They are over abundant. What i need is saves, hp's, and some of my other neglected stats to go up. Well looky looky. These boots have them. Just what i was looking for. And if you have noticed like i have, most of the warlock line of gear has Stamina too. If I remember right sta raises your hp's maybe? That makes me think of Lich and how fast my hp's go down with it on. Anytime i get more hp's as a necro makes me happy. More hp's equals more mana. Please don't jump on my back if i'm wrong about the stamina thing. Some of you people out there that read these things are such little biaaaatches.

35 hps is nice, but the addition of some mana or int would've made them more desirable.
