Logged on my Ranger and within 5 min killed 2 and they both had brains on them. This was the easiest part of the Level 3 Apprentice quest
I pulled my Ranger lvl 57 and cleared everything around the Explorer's Tower (+1700, +440, +109) for about 25 minutes killing Skellies, Cats, Goblins.
When 2 Sarnak Crypt Raiders popped at the same time west of he Explorer Tower both were in the same spot taking aggro from a Goblin Battlemaster. Spawn point was (+1903,+1904,+109) if you have downloaded maps from Mapfiend go to the Explorer Tower and pop your map.
Turn till your direction indicator on your map points toward the PoK marker (west) on the zone edge. Run in this direction ... when you get to the small mountain range on your right follow the base of it keeping the mountain to your right. The second tree along the base of the mountains is the spawn point (there are 2 stones about 15 steps North of this tree).
Prior to pulling my Ranger I killed everything that spawned in view of the Explorer Tower and never saw one Sarnak Crypt Raider.

Killed the West side of "explorer tower" for about 25 minutes, got two Sarnak Crypt Raiders pops within a minute of each other. Both dropped the brain.
I was hunting near the tower that's filled with explorers and was killing just about everything in sight. He spawned quite a bit, at least 4 times in an hour.
I have no idea whether or not there actually is a place holder or not, but considering the number of times I've seen him, I'd reccommed keeping the area cleared if you can.

Same here. Spawned a couple of time around the explorer's tower. Quite the puss. He will not last long against a gobbie. :-)

My necro just turned 9, and all I need is the brain from this guy combined in a special container with embalming fluid, which in itself was a pain in the **** trying to find the escaped froglok for his busted shackles.
I suppose I'll be hunting in LoIO until I find this guy...

Hunting at the Back Door of the Goblin Caves, I ran across the Crypt Raider twice over near a deserted ruin around the corner from the cave entrance. He was easy to kill for my 30 Ranger

Has anyone seen the Sarnak Crypt Raider?

I have encountered it only once. It was walking around near the Empty Tower near the goblins ruins at the North end of the Lake of Ill Omen. Not sure of its level, but it was an easy kill for a 19th lvl SK.
i have seen this guy in the northern end of lake of ill omen zone as well and kill him in seconds with my lv 26 ranger. it has been a very easy kill. this guy might be approximately around lv 12.
i hunted for a long time in the lake of ill omen zone, but this guy seems to be kinda rare or somehow triggered. it was the only time i was able to track him. just wondered what "a sarnak crypt raider" might drop, so i investigated his track. his only drop was some coin and a "sarnak raider brain".
