Dude, i'm personally at 546/405 WIS (with AA), in a guild doing Inktu'ta.. that's before clarity buff.. any priest at this level is going to have more than maxed their wis by now... would take a significant amount of non-WIS items to even get close to fallinng below the cap.

with that kind of AC.. i think a cleric would gladly give up the WIS

One thing I love about all of you who parrot "But all your stats should be maxed by now!" is your failure to realize where those stats come from.

Where do they come from?

Gear.

The more items without wis you get, the more items you have to get WITH wis to make up for it. Add to that debuffs, and the lack of wis on an item CAN negatively impact the desirability of an item. Sure, you may have 450+ unbuffed wis. Now get this. What did your previous item have for wis? Let's say 20. Now you're at 430 unbuffed wis. Now, another one of these no-wis, good-stats items drop.. Let's say THAT slot had 30 wis. Now you're at 400. Oh, another? Let's say that slot had 25 wis, now has 0. 375 wis. Do it again, and you're at, or below, cap.

You do have to look at your wisdom/int when deciding gear upgrades, no matter how far beyond cap you are. A few ill-chosen upgrades without your casting stat, and you're below your cap. One or two items likely wouldn't hurt someone in these zones, but it could.

Come on, is there really that many high end items with low to no wis on them? Maybe if you tried hard enough you might be able to get below your Wis cap at this point in the game... but you would really have to make a serious effort to do so.

Yes, you have a good theory I guess. But it's not based on the reality of the game which is there just isn't enough low wis items at this point in one's progression to hinder your cap.

You don't seem to understand the magnitude of the stats boost. As a Qvic cleric (at the time of this post), my WIS bonus from stat gear is 402 - I can only use 272 of it (287 with max OoW AAs). That leaves a LOT of room for non-WIS gear, unless I plan on living in Uqua :).

The point is most of the stuff that you would be weilding for hp/mana ALSO has wis on it. This is an exception to the rule, but at this point in the game they can afford to drop some of their wis/int. If you're at 450 unbuffed, there's no reason to look at the int/wis of any one item unless that one slot has 100 int/wis that you're replacing. 400 wis gives the same bonus as 450 wis, so if its a mana/hp/resist/whatever upgrade, take it.

I don't care

I think that if you are killing mobs at that lvl your gear should keep you well over the cap of 355

i agree, my sham is only 56th and my wis is already close to 300 without kei. i'd love to have an item like this that boosts various other stats that i need. i dont need wis anymore =P

Actually, you do need gear that takes you well over the cap value. There are mobs that cast/proc stat debuffs.

The debuff takes effect based on your "numeric" stat total and not the cap level.

For Carlo with 450 INT, and if fighting a mob that procs a 150 point INT debuff, then during the fight his INT would be at 300. Where as if he didn't raise his INT to that level and just stopped at 355, his INT would be at 205 during the fight.

True, I neglected to mention that :). I still wouldn't say it was a major consideration though.

Quite.

Most of my gear is elemental with a few Time pieces and I have over 450 INT unbuffed. Lack of WIS on this isn't really going to make it any less desirable to priests who can get into Txevu :).
for Wis-casters? Really?
# Sep 09 2004 at 10:18 PM Rating: Default
Maybe it's just me, but why is this for Wis-casters and not all casters where the Int-casters certainly do benefit more? Seems to me that this item is for all casters, but is primarily for Int-casters.
A lack of wisdom on somones part...
# Sep 09 2004 at 7:31 PM Rating: Default
Once again a Kick **** item for us WIS casters, but no WIS on the item.. Did they leave it off and will it be fixed later? If anyone has this thing, can you confirm that it doesn't have wisdom on it.

Double and triple checked - there is no wisdom on this item (as of this posting).

Not too much harm though. By the time a priest is in Txevu, their wisdom should be well-beyond maxxed.
