I think the last line of that focus would indicate it does not focus spells that do damage. We would need someone with this focus to make sure but I would bet it doesn't affect dots at all.
The focus effect on these... how does it work.. For instance... On my druid would this effect increase the duration of my DOTs? Does it stack with other effects?
Ok on the spell descriptions they have several lines of information. Lets break it down line by line.
Focus Effect: Discordant Thoughts <this is the name of the effect> 1: Increase Spell Duration by 30% <this means that the duration of the spell is lengthened by 30%> 2: Limit: Max Level(65) <the max level of the spell affected is level 60> 3: Limit: Min Duration(24.00 sec) <only effects spells that have a duration of at least 24 seconds> 4: Limit: Effect(Mesmerize allowed) <only effects spells that mesmerize> 5: Limit: Spell Type(Detrimental only) <Only spells that are detrimental in nature> 6: Unknown #311 (100/0/0) <I dunno =p>
So in breaking that down we can see that this focus effect will affect any detrimental mesmerize spell that has a duration of 24 seconds or more up to a level 65 spell. So, as far as I know this would limit this ficus effect to the following class:
Enchanters <natural choice> Magicians <they mez summoned dudes> Necromancers <they mez the dead dudes>
I am fairly certain that NO focus effects affect bards and besides they only have an 18 second mez any way.
This is indeed for Mesmerize spells only. just look at the other "Limit:" types like Limit: Fire, which will only function on any spell (provided it matches all other restrictions) that checks against Fire resist. the same for Limit: Poison. it only works if the spell checks against the targets Poison resist.
