Ok, after trying for almost 2 years to get the child's tear, I finally got it night before last and finished my epic tonite. However, I had some items left over. After checking, all but the broken arrow are for the 1.5. However, when I did the final turn in for 1.0, I did not get the entire dialogue I was expecting. I was instead told I had to prove my dedication to their cause before it would be discussed. I've read thru the whole quest again and everything was done. I thought it might be the arrow. Anyone have any idea?

The Broken Arrow has no use whatsoever, it is a red herring put into the quest.

"Broken Arrow" performed by The Dead on August 7, 2004 at Tweeter Waterfront in Camden, NJ in the first set.

When identified it says: "Item Lore: A Broken Arrow"

Tried handing this to the "a greater spirit" in erud's crossing, no luck.
Tried handing this to the "a wandering spirit" in west karana's, no luck.
Tried handing this to the "Tabien the Goodly" in Rathe Mountains, no luck.

My guess, it's probably par to the "trick" to get you to fail the test of patience. You get an arrow from abe and then he says to follow him, course you got the arrow so you feel your obligated to follow him...and fail the test.
I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you thought you heard was not what I meant.

You say, 'What broken arrow?'

Abe the Abandoned 's eyes suddenly come into focus, looking deep into your own and says, 'There was a time when we cared for the world and trod with the spirits along the paths of the cosmos. We built many great things and worked to preserve what was. I came here to wait for an answer when we began to die off. We could not figure why this was and I was chosen to come here and commune with our friends. We carved an arrow, and everyone who was left shaved a sliver of wood from it. We let it drop to hallowed ground and our highest shaman stepped on it, breaking it. I've been waiting here for so long. So, so long, to give it to the spirits, and thank them.'

Wait for a few minutes, then he'll speak again.

Abe the Abandoned says 'Shaman? My time will soon be at hand and I fear I will never see our friends again. But the arrow must be given, our holy broken arrow. Shaman, will you bear our obligation and [give them the arrow]? You will know who to give it to when it is time.'

You say, 'I will give them the arrow.'

Abe the Abandoned removes a quiver slung across his shoulder and solemnly hands it to you without a word.

You receive A Broken Arrow. Now keep waiting.

Abe the Abandoned suddenly gasps and says, 'I have found it! I know the answer! Come with me and I will tell you. Eyes are everywhere and this knowledeg is not for everyone. Finally my centuries of waiting are over hahahaha! Follow me Shaman!'

Don't move.

Has anyone tried following him, to see if he gives any other clues? Or if he really has the answer and is willing to share it?

Ok, i did my spear of fate a while ago, and when all was said and done, i had this little beauty left over. Any one have any idea what it is for? Do all or some, of the epics have left over items that just have no use? I was so afraid to delete it for the longest time =)

First of all gratz on yer epic.

As far as i can tell there is no real use for the arrow. But then again there is the possibility that it has something to do with the final response you get when you recieved the arrow. All my research has yielded no answers at this time. Perhaps SOE will give us a few more clues for this particular item. Or perhaps it may come in hany for the Future shaman epic quest that hopefully we shaman will get in the next expansion Omens of War. But that is all speculation on my part.

I have mine in the bank still as a just in case.

Gawd, I hope it's not part of the future shaman epic! How many shammies had thier epic for 2+ years and finaly decided to destroy the stupid thing before the expanded bank slots came out?
