But think

With max haste. (100% Buff/worn + Bards: CoP)
You can get this down to 71/12.
Let alone add Innerflame Discipline.

No you can't dual wield if your using 2hb, but add some Ferocity mods, ex. Maxed out Ferocity AA, Ranger's 2 attack spell with mods (adds up to around 30% with both) Worn (Belt of black dragon).

So I wouldn't say this staff is completely useless. But godly only under the conditions I wrote above.

-Food for thought- ..
Nice weapon, but I'd pass :(

Ok, as someone in a guild who has dropped this guy, I will give you my viewpoint. No monks or bsts have this weapon right now. Nor do I see any taking it. I use Noquifel 2hb augged with enraging blow right now (Segmented Staff of Ceremony) and I use it as a tank weapon. Currently for DPS I use Handwraps of Captured Magic in primary and Shinai of the Ancients in offhand. Should this drop any time in the near future, I would not in any way spend dkp on this. Simply because at the level of progression this guild is at, my next upgrades will be Tacvi monk weapon - Mind Reaper Club (29/20) and Crystal Hilted Shinai (29+1/19). Now with a few other beastlords and monks also waiting for the shinai and both other monks in the guild waiting on club in the near future it is adviseable to save DKP. This might be a fairly good DPS upgrade at the point I am right now. However, in the long run I'd be playing catchup on DKP trying to scrape together enough to get a weapon upgrade. I'd say for someone using 2hb as their primary source of DPS at this point it would be a decent upgrade from Segmented Staff, however for someone who would have to switch from dual wield setup to 2hb and then back to get a dps upgrade it doesn't come out as far ahead. Unless the new double attack aa's with DoDh really fixed the disparities between dual wield dps and a 2h weapon, this will remain true.

Just my thoughts. Specific to my situation. Your mileage may vary.
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 19 2004 at 12:57 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) can you say best weapon in the game? 10 less damage for a whole second faster hit than those other class weapons like the 84/41 zerker axe. this is one of those weapons i can see ppl doing 500 or more dps. the monk that gets this staff, in full GoD OOW time gear .......could see that soloing maby a mob or 3 in ep without even needing heals. soloing bot giants faster than whole grps do with no downtime. disc out and you could solo named of just about any grp quality. no raid mobs.
quick question

Quick question for those Elites out there, curious as what the low/average/high hits are on this, and what kinda crits you guys are seeing.

Btw for Bennelli, if you've read up on GoD, you need to get flagged there just like in PoP, and you'll probably not see the higher end stuff w/o a Elemental/Time geared group, as mobs are quite nasty. Read up before you throw out random stuff bud, and you'll see that quite a bit of work goes into GoD, just as PoP.
Akward Meeting

That sure would be an akward moment when going when meeting a bunch of buds from way low level, now that you're all 65 with your big guilds and uber items..
Xoinnan says,'I've joined up with the Lotus Cult, and we've traveled to the Elemental Planes, I've got this sweet armour suit and Staff of Flowing Water, and jboots!'
Gradturg says,'Bah that's nothing, I'm in Afterlife, and have a full set of Time armour, as well as full ornate and cobalt in the bank, and a Great Split Sword of Destruction ohh yahh!'
You say,'Ya, I wish I had a big guild, but I was lucky enough to get a pick up raid into Txevu, and we took down the boss mob, and I won the role on this Staff of Reaveling Secrets...'
Gradturd says.'..... ...'
Xoinnan says,'.... ...'

Yup, would be pretty funny...

Pick up raid? You first have to be KT flagged, then Ikkinz 4 and Uqua, then Inktu'ta to even get into this zone. No one is going to be winning this on a pick up raid.

Meh people said the same thing about pickup Time raids. It won't happen soon, but it'll happen.

But yes, the flagging requirements are pretty harsh.

I think you are missing the point of the post that I was replying to which I took to be that while other "high end" guilds are in EP/Time someone else could do a pick up raid and win this item during that same time period, which is not going to happen. The majority of the raid needs to be mostly Time or better equip to beat some of these trials and in the pick up raids I have seen, this is never the case.

In response to this ever being obtainable on a "pick up" raid, at least on the server I am on, pick up raids are very unorganized and not well equip. I guess maybe years into the future after several expansions and level increases it may happen, but again I don't believe that is what this poster was talking about.
Intelligence?
# Aug 21 2004 at 1:27 PM Rating: Default
ok, If this staff is Monk and Beastlord only, then what designer made this have intelligence? from what i know, Intelligence has absolutely no change and effect on anything for a monk and beastlord, so why give us this crappy useless stat?

INT determines how fast you learn a lot of skills. Even if one who would obtain this has all their skills capped it can't be bad to have. Remember a lot of players are completists and want the best characters as well.
RE: Intelligence?

It's the higher of INT or WIS that determines the skill-up rates - which the 30 WIS covers well enough (thanks to most "leather" gear being for DRU/BST/MNK, it's loaded with +WIS). The INT is pretty much redundant.

kuriaba "not that amazing ..."
hmm ok name 3 better monk bst weapons for dps also take into consideration that although the proc looks like **** sence its only 100hp rune the perpous of that rune would primaraly be to stop damage taken from DS's sence the weapon is "fast" for a 2hb the ds damage adds up and dont forget with 71 damage your looking at average hits of 400 with crits around 1k

As usual this weapon would be equally as nice for a Beastlord as it is a Monk.
There is not all that much difference between the Beast Vs Monk now.
Im at lvl 70, have 589AAs, have a cleaveIII item, raid buffed I can get my Atk over 2500, use tribute that raises by double atk slightly.
My 2HB now maxes at 270.
Now tell me I couldn't lay the smack down with this stick, this would be a great tanking weapon, not super fast for less reposte, and procs a 100Hp rune.
Would hit somewhere Im guessing around 435 max, which when your strength/Dex are maxed and your Atk is always above 2000 you hit for Max allot.

Will a equally equiped/AA'd Monk do more damage with the weapon "alone?" Yes, Still dont make it any better a weapon for the Monk than a Beast.
A Beast can effectively tank better than a Monk can (Because we can hold aggro better)this would be a nice weapon for BOTH classes equally.

Max hit w/o a damage modifier buff = 524. Max crit with Vetran's Wrath 3 = 1203 non disc, innerflamed max crit = 2315.

Effectiveness between monk / bst? MUCH more effective melee DPS increase for a monk due to our greater # of swings and beast's melee time lost while casting. Beast parse MUCH lower MELEE dps than any monk. If this upgrade would double a beast melee dps or a monk melee dps, then you would definitely want to double the monk dps.

Yes, both classes can make effective use of such 2hb's, but enough of the self justifying statements inferring that effectiveness of use between a monk and beast are EQUAL. They simply aren't when you're talking about MELEE dps increases. And don't start with the mana / wis on this item, because if you want mana / wis you should dual wield since you can nearly double the amount of mana / wis of this item by dual wielding AND get better melee dps with top GoD 1handers...

Sure it's a nice toy for you to play with in lesser zones and tank / duo / solo with, but overall at this level of the game you likely raid more than exp / farm and are actually hurting yourself and your guild if you aren't dual wielding for the greater HP, mana, resists and dps...

Like I said, try as you like to justify beast "equal" effectiveness, but anyone that plays near end game knows you're full of bull.

Beside all that, you can get Cudgel of The Watchful Dragorn much easier, and w/o any flags. Smiley: tongue

Actually I can confirm that without a damage modifier buff or anything I can hit for more than 524. I currently use the archaic jagged coral sledge. I max hit for 495 unmodified. If I use savagery, spirit frenzy and growl of the leopard, I can hit for up to 707 sometimes 848 non crits. I have seen crits for 1413.

Omg this staff is awesome. However on the monkly-business website there have been reports that Handwraps of Captured Magic + Demerix the Painsipper 1h combo is parsing higher dmg than this staff. This is still extremely nice though. Since I"m a monk I'm drooling right now..but I'd be extremely happy for any monk or bst that gets this when we get to txevu. *sigh* We got a long ways to go from uqua
