looks cool
# Aug 02 2003 at 11:47 AM Rating: Decent
friend of mine/guildy just got this. The graphics on this looks really cool, one of those double sided hammers. Although, even without epic, my spear with a tae ew shield is better then this. But for somebody without the shammy epic or UP spear (ensorcelled spear), this is a good item.

It does proc more than my other weapons. Its ugly as sin though, lol. Stupid curved hammer with extemded head. It is kinda nice to hit anywhere from 40 to 175 (on undead once without proc). Average is 60's and 70's though.

In addition to the great ratio this item has BANE DMG:Undead +6. I am not sure when it was changed, but as of May 28, 03 it has this addition. I assume the pic will be updated soon.

I just got this today on my druid (upper 50's).I think our raid was about 30 people, with a mean lvl of just below 60. The thing i noticed is that this thing procs a heck of a lot. Of my first 4 swings it proced 3 times agains some super low lvl skellys in QHills, and after that i tried it on some lvl 30ish skellys and it usually procs 2 times per fight(at 164 dex with focus). This may be really great for whacking the dead guys, but i fear that if i am grouped and taking a few cheap shots and whatever the mob of the day is that the proc might gain me too much taunt. In reality i wanted it for the stats, and since the proc only effects undead this is a limited issue, but it is something to keep in mind. great item none the less.

Umm... damn , kinda makes me wish I hadn't spent time doing my epic. The stats on this weapon are beyond sick, and since I like to melee with my ogre shaman all I can say is <WOW>. By the time I hit level 56 and get celerity I'll be at 72% self haste ( with SCHW ), this becomes more like a 40/27 weapon with adding more total mana and hp than the epic does. Doesnt even matter what the proc is, unless its soem AoE that would get you killed quick hehe. Of course Im looking down the 2hb weapons and this isnt even the best out there, but the question I now ask myself is -- Would it be easier to finish my epic or get this?

epic stats are better. this is a 2hb. epic is 1hp. epic + a good shield make this look crappy. go and get your epic hehe.

Well nevermind I now have my answer--clicked on the link to the mob that drops this--something like half a million hp level 65+ and surrounded by level 60 guards.. i would guess that every single mob that has to be killed/talked to in the shaman epic quest put together wouldnt even scratch this guy ( although Lord Rak 'Shiir 2000hp AE would maybe ). Thx for the info guys, I have just gotten my ring from High Scale Kirn a few days ago, and am looking to do a PoF raid to get my tear ( yes I know I can do Neh' Ashiir now but why not do CoM all in one raid? ). Will have my epic soon....as for this, I dont think I ever want to see this Itraer Vius Guy 'til Im level 60 with about 50 other level 60 with me.

BTW, I used to melee constantly with pet until I got my JBB, which I did not have at the time of the original post.

Finish your epic! Even though there are a lot of NICE melee weapons for us to use, we don't ALWAYS melee - and it's hard to beat that mana-free 1k DoT.

The Curse of the Spirits (https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/spell.html?spell=1714) is a Fast-acting very-hard-to-resist MANA FREE DoT that causes almost no damage at first(and therefor almost no aggro, doesn't break root, etc), then slowly speeds up until it's doing a LOT at the end.

Also, the Spear of Fate (https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=748) DOES have nice stats - it IS a good weapon - and it has VERY nice resists. Raiding, you'll find those come in handy when you are trying to slow/cripple/dot those AoE mobs.

..... but, I can't blame you for drooling all over a good melee weapon like this ... I'd like it as well, hehe - Once I've Speared my foe, if I'm going to melee and don't have aggro, I switch to my Tae Ew Hammer of Aggression (https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=10306) and pound away at 'em, re-spearing as needed.

Our epic is not the hardest of the bunch - I did mine without the help of any one guild, just tagging along in raids or with the help of friends - I did everything up to the Black Dire mostly solo, back before we had all the details of the quest hammered down ... even though I struggled back then sometimes, it was all SO worth it. =) (At least get the boots! https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=1784) (... and no, I don't wear THEM all the time, either ... but ....)

you ignore the fact that this is 2hb so you can't wield a shield like the shield of wurms of the ooiv. epic + one of this shields prolly has better stats than this alone.

Gotta agree here, 2HB makes this weapon suck pretty hard for the level to aquire. WHY does VI keep thinking that people will actually use 2HB weapons for the stats in the post-50 game? I mean, the proc on any of those classes is purely a toy at this level, and there are SO much better combinations of main hand/shield readily available. Water Sprinkler + Shield of Bane Warding gives me MUCH better stats (granted, epic isn't exactly readily available, but SoBW is EASY for a post-50 character with a few friends and some time to kill and that combined with just about any decent 1HB will give you a better balance of stats than this thing). And if I wanna kill some undead, I'll use my Dawnfire (585DD vs Undead proc), thankyaverymuch.

Interesting to notice that you only mention the ONE class that can use this that gets a undeand DD. As a shaman this would be incredible for me as the epic is only 20/30. yes, he stats are better between shield and Epic, but with the loss of 8 wis and some mana I can hit MUCH harder than I could before. The fact that it procs a spell I can't cast makes it even better. Had to give a few more opinions to balace out the previous biased post. (All things I mentioned of course apply to druids as well) =)

this would be excellent for a shaman. shammy's actually have the capability to tank, and slow mobs. druids unfortunatly would get eaten by a unslowed 50+ mob before they got 2 swings in..ds or no ds..:)

Whether you melee or not, the 25 wis is better than anything that can be equipped for pri and sec slot combined, unless you have your epic.
If you have your epic, why are you looking here?

Anyway, I have a Titans Fist as my 2hb, but this blows the fist out of the water..
I would love this.....

Shield of Bane Warding, quest that can be done by a group of 50's or almost entirely by some level 60's solo, has 20 wisdom for shield slot alone.
RE: just judging from the Wis
# Mar 26 2002 at 6:15 PM Rating: Decent
No way this quest can be soloed by a level 60. Even though the mobs were green to a level 60 on the first item hand ins, the 8 Tormented are still causing considerable dmg to an Ogre tank with primal weapon and ToV armours.

Then heading to Grimling Forest where the second hand ins. Which is a little tougher than the first hand ins.

Best if you get a Cleric, a chanter, and a warrior. all level 60 prefered.

Other than that, Yes the shield is great! only problem is, it consumes so much time camping for the need items.

Level 60 druid can do the entire quest up to the grimling forest part solo. Add a 59 necro there and a 52+ cleric for the final fight.

Before ya say it can't be done, it has been.

Ok lets be serious. By the time you get to a level that you can attain this item the only thing you will melee are pesky pumas and orcs that aggro you sitting at a ring waiting for a TP. This is a nice staff but 2HB items irk me because the melees get awesome 1HS items but priests and int casters always get 2HB. Me personally I would not want this item but to who ever got gratz to them. Thought most people that would see the mob let alone see this item would have thier epic so it is just a novelty at best.
Just my 2cp.

You think meleeing with a cleric is fun try a druid. I have 200 defense/offense. Add about 30 point's of damage shield and 15 points of regen in to that and You can accually melee soemthings for xp at 50.

Shaman Mellee + bracer power
# Feb 02 2002 at 8:34 PM Rating: Default
A common shaman soloing tactic is to slow a mob, dot it and just bracer it to death and to get a good swing or 2 inbetween bracer nukes with a high delay high damage weapon. Sure if neither of the other classes wanted it that much the shaman would be happy with it.
Solo

Well as i know clerics hate (in general) soloing (although have met one that really loved it. hehe wasnt very good at it but loved it all the same)
My post is aimed more at druids and shamans this would be quite a good weapon maybe not to use all the time but to have in reserve, you could switch in it to finish off that undead mob when you are LOM or OOM or tell the truth at that damage delay ratio any mob.
Hmm

We are suppose to hit things past lvl 20? LOL 51 at that? ROFL! Although the stats are nice I think I'll stick with 1 handed items IMO.

That's funny... my level 37 Cleric often melees.

With a good group, there's no reason at all that a Healer should just sit on their duff all the time.

My Cleric has a Defence skill of 179 and an Offence skill of 182... what about yours?
RE: Hmm
# Feb 01 2002 at 11:48 PM Rating: Decent
2 things

you wont get this at lvl 37
and
your lvl 37 cleric meleeing isnt really doing anywhere near melee dmg of the melee classes

hm maybe 3 things

my offense/defense is at 200
doesnt mean i can melee worth a crap tho

ummm, i'm not a cleric or anything....but 25 wis and 100 mana????? you're telling me that you would still go with 1 handed items? you must be damn UBER. i think most clerics would **** there pants for this item.

I agree with the questioning warrior. The problem is that many of the people posting are A) level 60 and should have better, B) in an Uberguild and get items that many of us casual players can't get our hands on, C) are holding epic weapons. basically, in the end, If you have your epic and are a boring sit back and heal kind of cleric, then yes there is no doubt you want the shield and a one hander. I see many with a book out instead of a weapon because they never fight. but if you are the kind that is low to mid 50's, really enjoy getting in there and fighting, and finds yourself in a group here (which I see often so don't bother flaming) then you can have this weapon that will be incredibly useful until you can get your epic. Plus I think at least one class should have had a 2hb epic weapon. Clerics would have been a cool choice for it, because their flail could have been on a longer shaft with a few more stat bonuses. I think clerics would have looked great with it. =D
RE: Hmm
# May 28 2002 at 7:02 PM Rating: Default
It takes several groups to take down IV, and most of those people will be 60 and if not 55+. And to break it to ya, no cleric/druid melees at that level for exp.

This weapon has 0 hps. both hand slots filled and you get 0hps. bad deal.

people killing iv will have 100hps 100mana 30wis and 10 to all saves _at least_ in hand slots.

I'd have to agree with the High Priest of Povar on this one. I'm a lvl 60 cleric on druzzil ro and would rather my 1handers instead.

1. Main hand: Water Sprinkler of Nem Ankh Dmg 20, Dly 32. +10 Sta +25 Wis +15 Cha +10 vsMg +10 vsFire +10 vsCold +10 vsPos +10 vsDis +100 Mana 0.00 Wt

2. Off Hand: Sheild of Dragonkind 40ac 15wis 75mana 75hp 7 vs all saves

Total: 40ac 40wis 15cha 10sta 175mana 175hp 17 to all saves.

And if u want to argue proc. u can still get the 1hb from chardok, IF your cleric melle's.

16dmg 22delay 1hb 15wisdom 15intellegence Effect: Expel Undead - 273dd vs Undead.

Seeing as to how hard the mob is to kill it would take a semi-uber guild to kill for, by that time most of the clerics would probably have the first two items or maybe better.

It's a nice TOY, but nothing really more =(
