This item is claimed. This item has a faction modifier. Increases faction with DaBashers by 200. Obtained by entering a code from the July 2004 issue of PC Gamer on a particular website, then typing /claim in-game, or by purchasing the Anniversary Edition then typing /claim. |

I just got this when I bought The Anniversary Edition for my cleric. Got all the other /claim stuff and this shield. I know it's not from the magazine because I never knew about this thing until just now!
Confirmed, this became available to me after purchasing Anniversary Edition.

Tro....answering petitions is what the GM's do, if they don't like being GM's then they should quit. If this is a claim then what would be the point of a GM giving that response? The other claim items given out on accounts have been pretty clear on what they do etc. As far as this item being useful...faction modifier with who and why?

Just a nitpick, but the name of the item, as of right now, that I have is "Scouting Shield of the Da Bashers". Rather redundant use of the word "the", but it's par for the course for SOE. I, also, had my Worn Scout's Shield mutate and am in the process of petitioning to see what I can do about it. I feel it is wrong to give out an item that already exists under a different name, then change the item. I'm feeling just a teensy bit cheated for buying the mag.

I had the Worn Scout's Shield in the bank earlier and it turned into this.
This gives faction with, of course, Da Bashers. The Troll warrior guild. When Identify is cast, you get "Item Lore: This item grants positive faction with DaBashers"
Why it gives faction with them, I don't know. It may have something to do with the upcoming expansion, but since OoW is, itself, an expansion of GoD, I can't begin to understand why we'd need troll faction. ;)

Ya whats the point of Da Bashers faction. Trolls dont even have their own city anymore. Maybe its just enough faction for a baby gnome to not get jumped by the damned troll while camping the kobolds. /shrug

if you mean Bugglegupp in Steamfont, that is a big Nope. my Dark elf Shadowknight was camping the Kobolds there and she attacked her 4 times before i was done. of course looking up the Da Bashers faction info here shows you can raise it by killing Bugglegupp so i see why the shield wont help.
I should have known this seeing how i hunted her down a lot after my mage was over 30 for killing the mage many times when it was a youngling.

I petitioned to ask what faction the faction modifier affects, and when the GM finally responded he said that he could not give out information about the game and suggested that I check the web community, which is a cop-out because nobody knows what the faction modifier does.
Well even if the fact that it's called "Scouting Shield of DA BASHERS" didn't clue you in, try casting identify, and it will tell you that it raises faction with Da Bashers (troll warrior guild).
Try figuring things out before petitioning, the GMs have better things to do than answer stupid questions (by "stupid questions" I mean those that without too much effort you can easily figure out yourself).

They should have made this +2 to all stats, since it is an ALL/ALL item. This would then benefit any class, such as casters, who could put this on their back as a great item to last them a while.
Yeah but i was expecting something my 65th lvl paladin would actually want to use, i would stop using this by 25th
do you really think they will give a way a planar level piece of equipment that all eq players can use?

You have to admit that the SV disease and poison are pretty decent.
But it's definitely not available "only" to PC Gamer readers, as the editors of that mag claimed.

I checked with the two possible races, Ogres, which I found had Bouncers, and then I remembered that it was infact the Trolls who had Bashers, so I checked the Troll warrior guild leader in Neriak to see if the shield changed any sort of faction, nothing changed.

If it is upgradable, the faction is probably for some sort of special "DaBashers" faction that allows you to make that shield better.
