Spent 3 hrs in LoIO ... No show spent less than 30 minutes in OT by the round ruins in SW corner, got him on the 5th cycle.

Wasted a few hours killing the Sarnak camps in OT, both the 3 buildings out from Skyfire and the round building closer to Warsliks, went to Lake of ill Omen and there was 2 gem oracles just roaming around the first courtyard when you get to the fort.

Confirmed today, Oracle spawns @ -1701, 372. Place holders were a few different sarnaks in the building. Spawn cycle is quick, maybe 4 minutes. Took 8 spawn cycles,

hmmmm... these posts intrest me... I found one of these on a gem oracle in Lake of Ill Omen- I asked in General what it was used fer. People told me it was for a quest, so I came here, and had not heard anything of this "Curse" before seeing these posts. Well, I found this on day one of three days I camped the front entrance to the sarnak tunnels and those wandering around. The whole time I was there fighting I did not have a phreak incidences of sarnaks argoing any more or less than they did before I looted, but I was also solo, so as far as noticeing them turn or not onto me during casting, I obviousley would not know this, hence, I was solo. :) Either way, I find this very interesting, and will continue to keep this Gem of Yet to Come on my toon for a while and see if it really does make a difference.... You know what they say... Curiousity killed tha cat. :) I'll post it if anything phreaky happens hehe :) Smiley: moogle

I looted a Gem of Yet to Come today (June 27, 2003) from a "Sarnak gem oracle" at approximately loc N1800 P3300. He was standing guard right in front of the tunnel entrance to the Sarnak fortress. A sarnak recruit was also standing there with him.

oh yes these do cause strange things to happen. i was in a group the on the left ledge. one guy in our group had one of thses and sarnaks would pop right on top of him. the RL was open so we moved to keep it from happening and he was kind of up on the hill and it kept happening. the ice of velious that drops off of the recruits sometimes also causes aggro. but not as much as the gem of yet to come

Having this gem rocks if you have a good group. Just sit on the ledges and kill them as they come. Seems to pull revealers and adherents. Death if you have a ***** group though.

If the gem of yet to come makes sarnaks aggro (which it probably doesn't) I'm gonna keep one on me just in case. Sarnaks coming to you, and focusing only on you? Sounds like it would be doing two of my warrior's jobs for me.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 25 2001 at 4:35 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) THE GEM IS CURSED the sarnaks wont atack me cuase im a higher lvl then them and im also an iskar monk so when i found out about the qiest i said ok i will do this so i went to lake of ill omen and killed him got the gem and started to walk out esay i thought in till all the sarnaks in lake of ill omen started agroing me
#Anonymous, Posted: May 23 2001 at 11:26 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) In a related inventory item aggro that I always believed in since I always have my newbie pull their teeth in steamfont. If you are carring the box that holds the diseased livers the infected and diseased rats aggro on you. I've tested that and if I don't have it in inventory I don't get the same reactions. thought maybe it was because I was killing so many infected and diseased rats at first but thats not the case. Even when they are very green to you they still zero in on you right away when you are carrying the case. Hehe as if they can smell the order from afar. Gemmer Goldbar Enchanter Karana server

Am i the only one who thought that sounded dirty?
#Anonymous, Posted: May 11 2001 at 5:36 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Well my group was hanging at the back door when the oracle was pulled we killed it and i looted and kept it. Within minutes we had tons of them on us. They would not stop coming. Eventually my whole party died. Do the right thing destroy the gem cause it is very very bad luck.
#REDACTED, Posted: May 01 2001 at 6:44 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I got a gem and whenver I'm in the fort I turn around and I see sarnaks rushing from all the hallways. I thought it was just because they had a high aggro radius, but now I'm going to try destroying my gem. Thanks everyone.

Wives tales and ghost stories and Everquest Urban Legends!

Sarnak keep attacking you because of a faction bug that happens, more so in Lake of Ill Omen, and has nothing to do with anything in your inventory. The gem is for some Iksar monk quest.

Try these:
-Have the book on how to smith open when you blacksmith, the fletching book open when fletching, etc...
-Kill only a certain try of mob in s ro to get the AC to spawn (pick one type, spiders, skeletons, whatever there is a theory for each)
-Press sense heading when doing trade skills and only click combine when you get a success ie "you are facing south" "you lacked the skills to fashion the item together"
Does this gem have an effect?
# Mar 18 2001 at 6:21 PM Rating: Default
I looted the Gem of Yet to Come off of a sarnak Gem Oracle in the Lake of Ill Omen. I asked around to see what it was for, and several people told me that i should destroy it because it taunted sarnaks like crazy. However, i kept it on me for a while, as i continued to kill sarnaks with my group and it seems to me that it had the opposite effect. I would cast an 81 damage spell on the sarnaks 3 or 4 times, and they didn't even agro on me (there were others attacking it also, but i was easily doing the most damage in the least amount of time). Normally they would be all over me after the second cast.
Does anyone know if this gem actually has an effect on sarnaks either way or if it only exist for the Shackle of Scales quest?

I believe it does. I looted one, and at first nothing happened. I think there may be a trigger that sets off the curse or some time delay. The last 2 days the sarnaks have been appearing from all over and attacking me, even when I am invisible. Yesterday we were pulling to the platform and I was sitting in the back, and two adherants appeared and attacked me. We defeted them, and a minute later it happened again. We defeated them again. I invisd myself so I could rest, but two adherants appeared in the courtyard, ran up to the back of the platform and attacked me again! Making a special point to run past all the other group tanks. It was very strange. Then someone told me about the "gem of yet to come". It was in the bank, and I had to get a TP to destory it. I also had 2 vials of sarnak blood on me. perhaps that has some effect on the curse as well. I destroyed the gem, rebooted the computer, and went back to there and the odd agro behaviour seems to have stoped. I can't prove anything, but next time you seem to be mysteriously trained, see if someone in the group has a gem of yet to come, (and maybee sarnak blood?)
#Anonymous, Posted: May 02 2001 at 10:14 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I had the same thing happen. The next time I logged on after getting Sarnak Blood and the Gem of Yet to Come, I re-entered the zone just as I had logged off last: invis'd and high up on the slope to the right of the entrance (...as u look at the fort on your way in). I cast Wolf Form, began to med, and within 30 seconds, a sarnak is hit'n me, and I had to kite/snare/dd. I look around immidiately as I start the kiting, using the 3rd F9 view position, and it's just me and the Sarnak; it didn't appear to have trained on me from some fleeing soul. I re-camoflauge... "/occ ..." for a fort group... i've just finished scrolling up through the text to verify that the camo hadn't worn off and that I had indeed been attack'd while invis... holy cow... two more Sarnak's have wandered way out of the fort to kick my camoflauged @$$. A kind soul almost got killed while help'n me to stay alive. We get a group together and move to a patio... and constantly I found myself the object of agro for simply casting a damage shield on the tank or puller; if i cast a "Heal"...forget about it: time to run and whimper. The next time I logged in, this was not the case. Is it random agro bug? Who knows. -Cassiusdreuyhd, then 28 DRU
