got the essences today in vxed for quest didn't even do a full clear and got 3 of em. Take right path up and follow it around staying right then before the named room go west then north that is ghost area. Hope this helps have fun all.

This quest is not for everyone, but I'm very glad to have finally gotten around to it.

It can be quite a painful farming experience, but if you have access to the Uqua drops, Cragbeast Queen scales, and don't mind a lengthy Yxtta farm for specific hynid manes... it can yield you a belt with very nice stats that has a spellhaste clicky -- one that you can even cast on others, just like a cleric does.

It's 5% spellhaste for level 65 spells, and with focus carryover it's still 3.75% spellhaste for level 70 spells. Another minor benefit this clicky has is that it's able to land on characters of any level. Even Blessing of Reverence requires level 46 or so.

For the high end game concerns, it's no replacement for (and doesn't stack with) genuine cleric spellhaste buffs. Still, it's nice to have in the absense of clerics.



As stated elsewhere, the safest place to farm Pristine Hynid Manes is the western Yxtta zoneline coming from Kod'taz. Note that the manes themselves are NO TRADE.

Close to the zone line there are two animal spawns -- each is always a cragbeast or a hynid. Repop time is around 20 minutes. From the zone-in, pull the left one first, then the right (single pulls). They are not aggro by default, but will always assist, so don't fight near to them. If you seek help with this camp, you can sometimes bribe people doing the Qvic Alternate Access with bile drops from the cragbeasts. Also, non-animals will drop BiC pages, meldstones, and other goodies. Experience here is okay, so long as you keep busy.

There are many more hynids deeper in, but they are past no less than six static spawns and a two roamers. Fighting in Yxtta should not be taken lightly. All the mobs I dealt with hit for over 1K, and all seemed to quad.

Much greater care must be shown when fighting non-animals. They are often highly resistant, and most are immune to run speed changes Some cast, many proc DoTs or snares, nocs rampage, ra`tuks flurry, etc. Pay special attention to mastruqs as they sometimes gate (i.e. incoming wipe).

I never confirmed from anyone that the hynids deeper into Yxtta can drop the Pristine Hynid Mane, but other Yxtta-wide drops fell for me at the west zoneline so my impression is that they can drop from any Yxtta hynid. If you verify this, please post that ;).

If you intend to farm more than the two western ZL spawns, bring a capable group (or maybe even two groups). Wiping in Yxtta can be a particularly tedious recovery.

Mudarik Aletipper spits out a mouthful of brew. 'Blast ye, [PlayerName]! For the love of Brell what possessed ye to sneak up on a dwarf when he's drinkin'? I thought ye were the [Cragbeast Queen] come to have me for a light snack.'

You say, 'cragbeast'

Mudarik Aletipper nods knowingly and leans in close. 'Listen to me carefully, [PlayerRace]. Keep a wide berth if ye value yer skin. She's got a jaw as wide as an ogre's backside and as strong as a steel trap. From what I gather from the natives, she made an appearance after the great explosion rocked this island. They say she crawled right out of the ocean if ye can believe that. Rumor has it that she's been sleepin' for ages and the blast woke her up. Now she roams the beaches at midnight. She's not angry so much as plain famished. We've been lookin' for bands of adventurers like yerself strong enough to take her down. If ye have the skills and ye manage to best the blasted lizard, come back and speak to me. There are [rewards] to be had for such bravery.'

Mudarik Aletipper smiles, 'That must be the Cragbeast Queen's Scales that ye've got. Mostly undamaged, too. Fine work, [PlayerRace]. Ye'll want to have a chat with the twin sisters Lienni and Larsaki here. The two of 'em are always babbling on about fancy things ye can make from cragbeast's scales.'

Again, you must have Scales of the Cragbeast Queen in your inventory to generate the following, proper quest text.

Lienni gasps when she catches a glance at the scales you carry. 'Unbelievable! Those are authentic ancient cragbeast scales. Why, they're absolutely humongous. Some of the scales are a bit charred or damaged in places, hmm.' She chuckles, 'The beast didn't go down without a fight, I take it? There are enough scales in good shape to fashion a sash. I could do so with the right [materials], if you wish.'

You say, 'materials'

Lienni hands you a compact box. 'This shouldn't be too difficult for someone like yourself. I will need you to bring me the raw materials to weave the sash. Combine them in this box and then return the box to me. The work will require three Pristine Hynid Manes, a pair of Untainted Spectral Essences, and the Cragbeast Queen's Scales.'

Lienni hands you a 6-slot combine container.

Place the Scales of the Cragbeast Queen, 2 Untainted Spectral Essence, and 3 Pristine Hynid Mane in the provided container and combine.

Hand the result back to her to receive a Lizardscale Woven Sash and some experience.

I hunted the two animal spawns in Yxtta nearest the Kod Taz zone for the manes. It was no problem soloing them as a 65 wizard. I would need a group to go deeper. It took me about 15 hours of killing over the course of five days, in between raids and such to get my three drops. Respawn time is 20 minutes and can be either a Wary Hynid or a Ravenous Cragbeast. Both spawn anywhere from 64-66th level. You can single pull either spawn point. Occasionally a roaming mob (noc or mastruq or ukun) will wander up between the two points, and may aggro if the hynid is rooted in its spot. They are 10% AA each, so you can get a little more than half an AA per hour just keeping those two spawn points clear.

All in all I killed more than 85 Wary Hynids and another 40 or so Cragbeasts at the front spawn points. I also cleared the way to Uqua 4 times with various raids, and killed a few in the courtyard while it was open. The mane is pretty rare.

The essences drop easily in Uqua. The six mezzable ghosts off the trap in the north wing drop them every time.

I love my new belt
