From the December 7, 2021 patch:
- Fixed an issue that prevented the Hole Key from saving to your list of /keys.
This goes along with keys being moved from your key ring to achievements, in the same patch.
To buy the Hole Key, you first need Bone Crafted Key to operate the elevator into inner Paineel. Then use find to locate Rallia. Uncheck [ ] the "Show only items I can use" checkbox in the vendor window to view and purchase Hole Key (no trade). Head to the underwater rock door that leads to The Hole zone, and click the rock to keyring it, with the message "Hole Key has been added to your key ring". Once you've done that, the next time you pick up the item out of your inventory it will poof with the message "Hole Key vanishes as you commit its details to memory."

Everybody I knew used to not bother with the key -- You could just hop into the pool and swim diagonally down into the crack of the stone doorway, then keep ducking/standing and you'll swim right past, glitching your way through the door. Large toons had to shrink to do it. Nowadays it's just unlocked and you can click to open, or you can jump right in from above.

did not go onto my keyring. but after destroying [hole key] I could still open the door. logging out and back didn't "fix" this either. sent in /bug report
confirm - it does not go on keyring. clicked the stone in the pool with and without it on cursor, jumped into the deep, no keyring entry. maybe because the hole is now an open zone?
Yeah now that the door to The Hole is no longer locked, this key no longer adds to your keyring. So don't waste time buying it.

Hey, want an easy way to raise Heretics Faction with out having to spend hours in the Warrens? Here's how...
1.) Have to be, bare minimum, Level 30.
2.) Zone in to Erudin, from Toxxulia Forest, and Kill the Sentinels. Sentinels are anywhere from level 20-30 mobs.
I took my level 50 Iksar monk, who con'd Ready to Attack to the guards in Paineel, in there and killed 19 Sentinels. When I went back to Paineel I was amiable. Can figure on 4-5 Sentinel Kills per Faction Raise.
Now, this beats spending hours in the Warrens, killing countless numbers of Kobolds, doesn't it? Enjoy your Paineel/ Hole keys!

If you MUST get the key to the HOLE. Then just shroud in goblin form 60-70. Make sure your shroud has lock picks to open the outer door to the Paineel elevator. Make sure you have the requisite amount of pp, then find your way to the Vendor, buy the Key using SNEAK to be indifferent to her, and then use to shroud AA gate to return to the Spirit Shroud NPC. Voila, you have your key.

I'd really like to know how you were able to find a lockpick that a goblin can use. All the picks I've tried are unusable despite saying they can be used by all. Picking your way in goblin rogue shroud form can not work.

51 Dark Elf SK, Killed Kobolds in the Warrens long enough to burn though 3 Virtues, started at con Dubious, hit Apprehensive about the same time the My Faction Standing with Kobol Could Not Possibly Get Any Worse! Got the third Virtue, came out when it faded to refresh, and Bing! I was amiably!

Confirmed: Shroud does indeed work. Picked my way into Paineel, sneak/hide to vendor, got behind vendor, right clicked and bought key for 126 pp.
I was dubious to vendor as a goblin rogue, but if you sneak/hide behind her, right click, she will sell to you.

Rogue shroud no longer works. I went to use pick lock on the rock and got a message saying you cannot use pick lock on this door.
Shroud does work, just did with my main the other day using 70 Gobby Rogue. Must have lockpicks on cursor then you click rock. Make sure you hide/sneak to the vendor (sow helps this go faster) and stand behind the merchant to purchase the key.
Rogue shroud does still work. Two of us got it done tonight with a 30 rogue shroud and a 40 rogue shroud. One of us had to buy a set of lockpicks to use on the door.

I just tried this today and it does work. I put the lockpicks on my cursor before and it wouldn't so it must've been simply bugged at the time and it was fixed at some point.

1. get an EB item so it is a lot safer to swim inside
2. shrink yourself to the maximum or use illusion gnome/halfling and you can swim inside without a key.
3. oldfashion rogue for lockpicking, but no need normally.
4. make a lvl 1 toon and bind yourself in the zone and jump down. there is a spot where you will not die when you jump down!
(5.) Graphicbug when you use a mount and wizzypet after you jumpd down (zoned) you are stuck on your pet. when you tell your pet than to go away you will take fall damage, but will not die. Don't know if that still works, but workd fine for me the last few years.

p.p.s. The worst case scenario is to get a rogue shroud from PoK, buy a lockpick, pick the paineel entrance, snaeak and hide behind the merchant and buy a key.

Tried using the shroud tonight with the following results:
Used Goblin Rogue (lvl70) shroud and found that picking the lock worked first try, every try, however the merchant conned Dubious & wouldn't sell to me.
Went to the Warrens & killed every Kobold I could find for an hour or so (I did about 2 "Laps" of the warrens).
Conned Amiable after that. Successfully got The Hole key, and the key to Paineel!

You need to stand behind the vendor and use sneak. It dosent work if you are stood infront of her.

Did it the old-fashioned way. The kobolds despise me. However, it is nice as a 45 iksar to have another city I can play in (Paineel) and access to a cool zone in The Hole.

3. Lockpick the paniel entrance rock thingy
4. Hide + Sneak to the trader, CTRL F to have a nice easy path too.
5. Buy the 'Hole Key'
6. Activate Spirit Sending and remove shroud
7. Congrates now your toon has there hole key
Im sure sony will find away to nerf this though :P

BTW when you are looking for the key in the venders list, it looks like a bag not a normal key. FYI so you don't think your not finding it. LOL

Haven't been to the hole in a long time, but I read these posts the other day about "needing a key" to get into the hole now.
So I spent several hours killing kobolds in the warrens. The end result: Guards still want to attack me and I still shrunk myself and went into the little hole in the rocks in the water and spent about 5 min clearing out the elementals (when you come out of the water) and down to the first bridge. Didn't even have any trouble when 3 of them jumped my pet. (Sick'm Boy!!) He just ate them up.
Long story short: Sometimes the old ways still work good. :-)

Eye of zomm (or the tinkered Stalking Probe) will open the Paineel elevator-door. As will a pick lock skill of 17 and probably lower. From there though you still need to be able to buy it. The Probe can help Sneak classes who are kos get there.
Best way to get this is by killing hella lotz of kobolds inside warrens until the skele guards become amiable or kindly and they gave yah a key to Paineel (the one that opens up the big stone) and since yer amiable with the guards yah dont have to worry in agroing npc inside and look for the merchant that sells the Hole key. Now aint that easy

Personally i think its far easier to get an erudite illusion potion to get your faction up enough. that might have just worked for me since i was a sk anyway, but i had been killing in the warrens and then decided to give it a try. drank the potion, asked the guard for a paneel key, then bought the key inside without taking the days required for enough faction for it. also much easier than buying tons of shrink potions (or begging a shrink) or having to get a rog or a bard.

Is there any way to get one of these without getting into Paineel and buying it?
Alot of people might start wanting these, because you can't get in any other way now. The collision error with the rock was fixed, now I can't get inside.

I have never been here--if you use the key to get in does it become part of your keyring to be used forever, or do you need a new key each time. If not permanent, at 100p+ per try, I'd rather go with a rogue or bard. =P
It doesn't appear on the keyring sadly. However it's not no rent and doesn't get eaten when you use it. so just means wasting another slot in the bank, and remembering to grab it for trips to the hole.
