Ruins of KunarkJust killed the courier 5 times and he dropped the student log every time along with a SK scroll. I'm either incredibly lucky or they upped the drop rate. Been reading several posts here saying this book is a nightmare to get but this hasn't been the case for me on live.

I was PL'ing lower toons and in a few days had all the drops except the Student's log - mostly because I missed the fact I needed to focus on the courier for it. The Illegible Scrolls for the SK epic dropped all the time from the courier, it took about 8 days of hunting the stables and getting the courier sometimes to get the shammy drop - by then the shammy was logged at the zone line because everything had gone light blue and green to him, and I was leveling up different toons. The courier spawns in two places in the stables. As you face into the stables, the first place is to the right, in the corner of the rear building closest to the aisle between the two stables. There are three to four mobs to clear to get to him. The second place is in the first room on the left behind the door in the left-hand stables. My 64 druid always got him along with the undead in the open area next to that room.
The interesting thing is that the courier (or couriers) could be on track, and would despawn before I could clear to them. So, apparently it's up on some kind of schedule, but if not killed despawns and the placeholder appears. (No one else was in the zone at the time, so I don't think someone snuck in and killed it when I wasn't looking.) Keep killing the placeholders and the courier(s) will eventually spawn for you.
The other shammy epic drops are so common as to be a nuisance. This one is the bottleneck in this quest for this zone, but is doable with time and effort. A tracker definitely helps.
I would kill the undead at the end of the aisle, then set up there. The mobs are on 20 minute timers, so I just wouldn't pull when the NPC in the corner was due to pop. Helped avoid the massive trains I saw some days while this was a hot zone.

First time he popped..took a few hours to spawn him but he dropped this right away.
Magical day 7 :) had a full group in city of mist killed the courier about 3 timed and low and behold i looted the Log. Only problem i have is i get kicked off every time i enter the qone. Anyone else have this problem?
I for one hope i get it soon, i've camped city of mest for 6 days now and no log :(
I and my two cleric friends just spent 2 days searching for the "Student's Log". We had the courier pop and all he droped was a page that can not be read.. have seen this several times. So I took it and put it into the Ancient Journal with the other 5 readable items.. Well, It did not work..
Do I need to be able to read the item to be able to do the combine in the Journal?

They need to change that from common to rare. Been camping this 10 hours and had about 12 spawns and havent got the drop yet. Pathetic :(

No, It can't be multiquested, because it is one of 6 pages that need to be combined in a container that is given to the quester.
