I Believe "The Ebon Hand" is the rogue guild in Neriak. it might be the Ebon Mask, but not sure. if it is indeed the ebon hand.....hmmm *struggles hard to think*
well...

actually, necros/sks use reanimation haste, so your theory falls through :)

actually, i have a decaying bone idol on my lowbie necro (was given to me by a friend) and it does work with necro pet spells, almost halves the cast time it takes, so this buckler will work with =any= spell that summons anything, be it food or drink, or be it a pet, or what ever

actually recheck your previous patch msgs :) all pet classes will use any for of summoning haste on pets aka decaying bone idol is summoning haste 4 and yes it works on necro pets
Very Very EEEnteresting!

So I was poking around on lucy.fnord.net, you know, that site that has spdat parsed and all laid out for ya, and I made an enlightening discovery!

Spdat.eff doesn't list Reanimation Haste IV or Reanimation Efficiency IV. At all. (or Reagent Conservation IV, but who cares? :) )

So perhaps... perhaps necros can benefit from the Summoning IV ones, even though they can't benefit from Summoning Haste or Efficiency I through III.

Somebody go test it that has one of these!

If anyone's worried about it, Summoning Efficiency IV was in there, we just haven't found such an item yet. :)

Hehe, NEVER assume VI thought of that little quirk when they made this item...

not random classes
# Nov 19 2002 at 3:25 PM Rating: Good
for all of you wondering about why not this class or that class take a closer look at the effect. Summoning Haste only speeds up the casting time of pet summoning spells. The classes listed are all classes that have several pet spells. and before anyone says "wizards, clerics, druids have pets too" druids never use their pet unless they are just messing around, and if i remeber correctly the cast time on wizzy and cleric pets is allready fairly short. so the sheild is useable by "pet classes" and the effect is fairly useless anyway since i have rarely seen anyone cast a pet during battle
RE: not random classes

Actually bro if a good mage gets in trouble he will already have another pet coming up just as his old pet dies in combat so this sheild could be really helpful if the mage is smart when he gets in trouble in combat. The added summon haste will give him a couple extra secs incase he is already casting when he notices his pet is almost dead
Huh?

Good point, let's pick 6 random classes, that all have pets, and give them an effect that lets them summon their pets faster. (That was sarcasm in case you couldn't tell). Take a look at these six classes again, see if you can figure out what they have in common:

beastlord
necromancer
enchanter
magician
shaman
shadowknight

Also think about why these classes would want summoning haste...

Dooesn't seem so random now, does it?!
Wiz ?

Why Not Wizzy ???

Don't Like I complain But they made Staff Like Great Staff of The Battle Wizard ( or something like that ) usable by all INT caster and we cannot use A Buckler ?
RE: Wiz ?

It should be for 2 other INT class casters over the Shaman and Beastlord. I would say otherwise if it was Spell Haste 4 but it's Summoning Haste 4. That and the +10 to INT aren't going to help us out much. The rest of the stats look sweet tho - if they switched the INT to WIS - I would say go for it on the Shaman side. Beastlords use Dual Wield more than shields after level 17.

Ever heard of swapping out items for specific purposes? I have several items that I ONLY pull out when the time is right to cast whatever spell their effect is useful for casting. Most times I leave the main item on the cursor while casting said spell and then put it back just as soon as that spell is done casting.

Maybe because wizards are overpowered as it is, and it was made so wizards could complain and groan some more? Spell haste 4 for a wizard would be devastating. Maybe it wasnt made for a wizard to save them? i mean, with all that extra cast time, they could probably fix up some mean agro casting a couple extra nukes in the same amount of time

Have you ever tried to play a wizzy? We may do more damage than other classes on DDs but the other classes have pets or heals or pet heals. Necros have LTs Magicians have awesome pets, chanters could kill 50 mobs at the same time (I am slightly exxagerating here). We aren't overpowered. We're also very poor till 29.

Maluum, 25 wizzy, Ayonae Ro
Krellian Stonesinger, 29 Magician, Ayonae Ro
Jinantonx Ontharocs, 26 Necromancer, Ayonae Ro
Mazilli, 18 SK, Ayonae Ro
Bankuma, 7 warrior, Tallon Zek

You don't see many focus effects for Beastlords...
