Where in the discription does it say that this only boosts fire based spells? As far as i can see it should work on all detramental instant cast spells, thus meaning it should work for sk's as well. I also thought that SoS wasn't an instant cast spell. I realize that the name of this focus may tip you off that it's directed at fire. But Sony has a bad habbit of giving names to things that actualy have nothing to do with the words used in that name. Also, i'm curiouse about this strikethrough thing, anyone got a reffernce they can link that explains that?
another question, please don't get to rough with me on this one. But do focus effects have any effect on weapon procs? If so this focus effect would have an insane damage bonus to any rapid proccing class. Remember, this was only a question, not some newbish fantasy what if...
Too bad the focus effect would be wasted on a SK. Being An instant fire based direct damage focus this would be better on a ranger, out of all the hybrids. Ancient Burning Chaos, Sylvan Burn, Brushfire and even Calefaction are 4 rng spells that would benifit from the focus. I am unaware that the other hybrid classes even get a fire based nuke. Rangers are affected by all aspects of this item, SK's are not, Making it more ideal for a rng.
As Nixoh posted, yes this is extremely well rounded item, that anyone can use. Wizards would love for SoS, Druids for pretty much every nuke they have, Mages as well. The fact that its all/all means its not SK only. Whomever has the highest dkp is going to get it.
Some items are more suited for some classes, this is not. Grats who ever got this fine item.
I was thinking a nice item for anyone, but 'specially for wizzy, mage, and druid because of the fire spells. But shadowknight ONLY? I'm going to need some better clarification on this one.
Ok, avoiding all of the usual caveats about an item being for X, Y or Z class I will point out that this is one of the most well-rounded items I've ever seen. It has features for every class, and while the focus effect is quite nice, so is ATK, Regen, Strikethrough, Sun resist, HP, Mana, Endurance, resists, basic stats and AC. It's not the best neck item in the game, but it's probably the best neck item that so equally fits all classes.
Question: Strikethrough can avoid riposte correct? If so, does this limit the impact of Enrage? Does it only work for those classes that get the Strikethrough AA?
Saying it's clearly meant for an SK is about as daft as saying it's clearly for any class... what really matters is what your raid already has, and where this will do the most good, especially given how well balanced this is.
I kind of miss the days of Velious where items were much more class-centric. Items like this won't rot as often, but does anyone expect to be doing zones like this one without a full compliment of folks anyway?!
Strikethrough doesn't avoid a ripost, but your attack that the mob countered with the ripost can have an +X% of still landing, also works on dodge and block. Just like the Tactical Mastery AA
