With the 8th anniversary under way from 3/16 ro 4/16 (2007), the new "scavenger hunt" NPC Tyla in the Nexus is giving these away, just as the other scavenger hunt NPCs did in earlier years. Also, it seems the scavenger hunts from past years have been added back for the 8th anniversary, so I'm guessing you can get a doll from those NPCs as well.

It's an amazingly good item, well worth 5k if you ***** up and forget to grab one while it's free. Each year I make sure I store one on each of my characters, and then during the other 11 months the chars who don't need one feed them out through my bazaar trader. And yes, I charge a few K for my trouble!

This Item is now Augmentable be sure to update the charactor equipment availablilities as it won't let me add my augment even though I have one on it.....lol, Anyways in response to is this item still available, I have no idea about in game purchases or loot drops but I got mine as a /claim item with ether my titaniumedition budle,or my platinum edition budle I started with, or with the dragons of norrath expansion set not sure which of these it came with as I installed all of them at different times of course but did not claim my items till later and all those items went to my wizardess main, the TSS /claim of the scepter went to one of my alts... but anyways I got mine by /claim and it is slot1, type 7 augementable, and so I am unsure if this is available in game or if it is only /claim item now or what.

But please update site to allow us to add our augments.....lol

Thanks, Lilluvless.

Is this still avail?
# Sep 11 2006 at 1:57 AM Rating: Decent

Went to Thrug, OT, DL, FV and Kelethin and was unable to find the npc merchant. Any update greatly appreciated.
Is this still avail?
# Oct 17 2006 at 8:10 AM Rating: Decent
This item is only available for one month out of the year, during the aniversary celebration (March, I believe). In between times, they can be found in the bazaar, but usually not cheap. I think the lowest I've seen it is 2K.
Is this still avail?
# Mar 26 2007 at 8:00 AM Rating: Decent
Haha someone was feeling really generous on my server (Saryrn), as I got mine for 200pp, someone in my guild was gonna give me one but he was taking too long killing and would've had to run all the way back to the vendor so I went to the Bazaar. Needless to say when I saw that price I hightailed it over there to purchase...:)

For all to know, at the 7th anniversary this doll is being sold by Gimblak Frozensong in Thurgaden. Run straight in at the zone, turn right at the sign of the Broken Glacier, and there he is, and nertz to all those still selling this in the bazaar when everyone can get it for free (again). Loc about -394, -163 hope this helps =D

the Dolly heard around Norrath
# Nov 02 2005 at 4:08 PM Rating: Decent
It's been a few months since the Fabled event & the introduction of the Festive Doll. my Monk still utilizes the dolly for the stats. This was one of the too rare benevolent gestures of Sony to players. Sure players are now trying to cash in by greed on the dolls in bazaar but it is sadly somewhat expected & logical. For a casual player this dolly is a great Range item.

There are no longer sold by the vendor as they were part of the 5th anniversary event which lasted 30 days. You can find them for sale in bazaar at a "slight" markup from the original price.
overthere
# Mar 29 2005 at 4:08 AM Rating: Decent
The easiest way to get it that I have found for my Iksar is to go to the Plane of Knowledge then go to the Overthere portal. Then follow the wall, keeping it to you're right, bypass the entrance to the settlement and go to the merchent VelnasT'Lav where you can get a free doll, coin, cake, and most importantly for us drunks, beer. Oh yeah, if you accept the quest you can get a free 10 slot bag. Not a bad way to start off your new characture.

It appears that all of the 6th Anniversary NPC Scavenger Hunt quest givers are also merchants. Each of them offers the Festive Doll as well as other special items, including stat foods and drinks and fireworks.

In Firiona Vie, it is Nilvara Rishal, loc P788 P1978 P143, to the left of the entrance to the old Drolvarg Fort, just around the corner.

Sarvil Amberstone (I think that is the correct name) in Dreadlands near the Nexus Spire also offers the items.

Nice, but...

Doesn't exactly help with building a sense of accomplishment with the game. Sure, it's in the new FV outpost waaay across the zone past a teeming zone of See Invis mobs, but I tried this my lvl 25 Mage on Stromm and had to wait for the Draknids (sp) to get away from the tunnels before running across the zone to reach her and buy my doll. Replaced a Preserved Split Paw Eye and I've got 150 more mana.

Anyone who started yesterday could make a toon, run him over to the NPC and get it. Or ask someone to get it and *wham!* +15 to alot of stats.

It's just not what I was expecting as a prize for us. I kinda liked last year's Fireworks quest: fairly useless but has a nice sense of accomplishment. Maybe if they started off with low stats in the beginning and gradually bumped them up via yearly quests kinda like the Clockwork Talisman quests.

Its not like one +15 all stats item, with no HP or mana on it, will really unbalance the game. After all, they added the tutorial charms, which are +5 all stats, and unlike these, most people cannot ever get those for their characters.

These are kind of nifty items, however, I only had 3 alts who could even use them as upgrades. the lack of raw Hp/mana/end really makes them less desirable for most long time players.

"After all, they added the tutorial charms, which are +5 all stats" they are actually 10 to str/sta/wis/int and 20hp/mana also this was not this years quest, the xp potion was. but xaanru was right about how this item would be nice for a noob, but soon itll stop being very good, also this has no resists, no ac as well

also it would be cool if they had a quest that kept going from aniversary to aniversary. like say u get an item in charm slot thats like other charms but either "gains power as your character attends more anniversaries" or "gains power as you complete aniversary quests."

just an idea.

I think when the "anniversary" is over the stats on the item will poof. So it's only temporary. That's what happened last anniversary and that's prolly why they are free. The fireworks from last time were cool and can still be used, not sure why they didn't give a quest for something a little more permanent this time but the exp potion sounds cool (haven't done it yet).

Actually, someone asked a GM this same question, and they said:
Quote:
The free items are a gift from SOE to its players for being here to celebrate our 6th year, There are currently no plans to change the festival doll or coin

if they had a message like this up, the person probally bought their money the e-bayed way. I dont think anyperson during the time it dropped would actually buy it. Even if they did that kinda stupidity makes the game a bad place.
RE: Dumb people

No you are the dumb person for selling it. If we are gonna try to keep this game going for as long as we can we need to help people, especially people new to the game. I was hoping the majority of griefers and buttheads left for WoW and EQ2, but I guess there is some still around.

Next time read the post more carefully before scolding someone else. This person said that someone was trying to sell it and they were warning other people that it was free; They did not say that they were trying to sell it.
