Better chance of finding fableds due to contest
# Apr 01 2007 at 1:57 PM Rating: Decent
EverQuest is currently running a "Fabled Adventurer Contest". Because of this, there is an increased chance of finding a fabled creature. I have seen 5 or 6 in just a couple of days (one of them being Fabled Rucksif) leading to GREAT loot and tons of XP. It's great. I suggest you take advantage of 'tunity and go searching for Fabled creatures ad kill them for the good loot-- just a thought. :)

Happy Hunting, all! And good luck!

Tonight, my buddy (42 Beast) & I (42 Bard) went on a mission to get a piece of Fabled gear. We considered some of the newbie Fabled, but decided to try for mid level stuff in an easy zone. Eventually settling on Unrest. We didn't know quite what to expect, but were content when we discovered atleast 3 seperate Fabled spawns. 1 of which was only red con to us, Fabled Garanel Rucksif. Knowing of the notorious underconning of Fabled mobs, we were apprehensive about engaging this one. Especially because on the way there, a Baron Ranger tried to leap frog us, and died to the mob in the process. We ended up making a plan of action, and preforming it flawlessly.

Starting from the side porch. My beast friend led the way clearing most of the trash with his pet. We continued down the basement until we reached the pit, with the ramp leading to his room. I lulled with a stringed instrument all surrounding adds using my f9 views. On the last one, I accidently got his agro. The Beast already on his way, we both hauled *** up top & to the front yard. I started a small chant kiting circle, and my beast friend added major dps with his pet (taunt-off), dots & DDs. This chump went down quick & easy.. We saw him again shortly after, did it even quicker. He's cake if you can keep him out of melee range. GL!

After the patch I made it to Unrest. Found the fabled Garanel Rucksif up <con light blue to 63rd non uber Cleric>. I cleared the path out of the basement before I pulled. Then I pulled with Epitaph of Life outside to a romantic part of the maze where we could be alone. Doubled down with Sermon of Penitence. Clicked AA Celestial Regen. Followed with Supernal Remedy that crit healed me to full from 41%. Recast Epitaph of Life, Recast Sermon of Penitence, Supernal Remedy that crit healed me to full from 52%. Recast Epitaph of Life, Recast Sermon of Penitence.... Continue untill one of you is dead. I ended fight OOM 61% health. I was swinging hammer the entire time but spell casting was just as I noted one right after the other bang, bang, bang. You cannot solo tank with the hammer alone. DOT's are the key. I think I cast both dots 4 times each and healed myself 3 times ( not counting my AA heal ) two of which were crit heals that got me to 100%.

Luck... maybe. Would I do it again? You bet :)

My understanding is that the patch on the 23rd set the levels of the Fabled mobs to something a little closer to reality, rather than just the levle fo the non-fabled version.

Well I went to Unrest just to see what all the Fabled stuff was and found the ghost.

Nobody was around and there was only a few level 10s in the zone so I decided to take him outside and kite him around a bit.

Long story short he doesnt summon, he hits for about 200 - 300 he never resisted any of my dots and he is an EASY kill for anyone who can kite a HG.

This is the wrong place to post something like this but is the Ghoul Magus bugged or does he just not drop any fabled stuff. I kinda expected a Fabled Savant's Cap

This mob doubles for as much as 280 a pop. Thats some serious damage from a green con to a 46. Luckily a 59 bst was there to save me.
Fabled Boots

61 Ranger here, who was planning to solo this guy. I arrived at the camp and it was empty. Luckily for me, a two-boxing 60 Warrior and 55 Cleric showed up who also wanted the boots. Had to kill about 4 or 5 PH's before the named spawned. Hit me for about 280+ but luckily our DPS was pretty good. The two-boxer needed to get a couple of heals off to keep us alive. I looted him and got the boots.

Then I stuck around to help the Warrior get the boots, and luckily another named spawned next. So named spawn seems completely random, or I guess we were just lucky. So Warrior got the boots as well. Can also confirm that the spawn time is exactly 20 mins.

The Fabled version of Garnel hits VERY hard for a green con. My 54 pally has helped kill him about 6 times, and probably would have not made it with out a bit of help. The boots dropped every time. The plain DWBs droped about half the time along with.

Garn pops about half the time, with a Festering Hag as PH the other half.

Note, Unrest has several Fabled mobs..

Unrest has 4 fabled mobs, Fabled Garanel Rucksif, Fabled Undead Barkeep, Fabled Undead Knight, and Fabled Reclusive Ghoul Magus. The Ghoul Magus, however does not have a Fabled drop, just drops what the regular drops.

Fabled Ghoul Magus has been fixed now, he drops Fabled Dusty Bloodstained Gloves 9 AC 4 WIS 4 INT and some other stats and resists, cloth/leather classes only. I farmed the Unrest fableds today for some alts with a 54 mage with no external buffs. All four fableds are soloable; Garanel takes some effort and the other three are easy. Undeed Barkeep was green at 54, the other three fableds all DB.
