The click effect on these items is controlled by your "spell particles" setting. If you have your density OFF you will not see the effect. Also, you may sometimes not see the effect if in first person view. Scrolling back a tiny bit or changing to another camera view will allow you to see the fireworks.
What a waste of time. After reading below I now know better. All my toons were created in 2003. I have the worst effect ever, Miragul. I thought it went by the town you did the quest in, so seeing my human got the miragul one in freeport, i redid the quest with my woodelf in Kelethin thinking id get a different effect, and got the stupid Miragul one again, with 1 measly weak rocket, BAH! Can you say destroy? Can you say waste hours and hours of playing time? SIGHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh If you ask me it should work the same as a focus effect item. 1 rocket to 22, 2 to 44, 3 to 60, 4 at 65.
What about characters created in 2004? Does anyone know if this is still good? I wanted to send my 37 Chanter out for a sparkly staff.. but not if it's a waste of time. Please let me know! Anyone? Thanks!

Posted:Mar 25 2004 at 10:18 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) My FV rogue can now duel wield the Solusek sparkler (that she quested) with the Miragul rocket (that my alt quested from my other account). One more reason to love my server, woot!
lore item, for 1, two, NO DROP, you cant transfer them between players, so dont lie, besides, if anyone wants to be clear on why they are different effects, it is the age in yrs of the character you get it from, & once again, you cant trade no drop.... newb
He's on Firiona Vie! 1) Staves with different effects aren't lore to each other, just can't have two with same effect. 2) On FV, almost everything except Epics and a handful of other things is NOT no drop. So, on FV, these Staves ARE NOT no drop. They even sell augments on FV!
So maybe YOU should do YOUR research :) Firiona Vie works different!
Wow to call someone who was completely correct a newb, can we say EBAY? On Firona Vie server, most items are not no drop, in fact, very few items limited to just about epic pieces are no drop, and as to lore, they are considered different items because they have different effects on them. Trust me, I have 4. newb, BAH!
You'll get this one if you were made in 2000. Which is the Kunark Era. It has a nice effect where 3 flames shoot out. They are blue, red, and yellow. The flames then burst into sparks. It's the one I got, and is very nice. :)
The staff you get is according to when your character was made. If you were made in the PoP era, I assume this is the staff you get.
Nagafen = 1999 = Old World Trakanon = 2000 = Kunark Tormax = 2001 = Velious Ro = 2002 = PoP Miragul = 2003 = LDoN
This is my best guess so far. Five years, five staves. I'll update if needed.
Actually, if you were made during EQ's first year, Nagafen, second year, Trakanon, etc. Doesn't go by expansions or by years. I got it for my main, Zhao, who I created January of 2001, during EQ's second year of existance, and I got the Trakanon Tail rod.
**edit, which I should note is right after Velious came out....
No, because EQ came out in March of 1999 (evidenced by this week being the 5th anniversary celebration), so characters created in January, February, or the first half of March 2001 would be 2nd year.
